The Northumberland Forest is quite close and it offers many cross-country ski trails. Because of the cold weather, our outdoor shower it’s not operable during the winter months. An adorable little retro styled bunkie on a private woodsy property that’s just a fifteen minute walk (or three minute drive) from a picturesque rock beach on Lake Ontario. Tucked in privately from the road out of site by a bunch of junipers and other trees located on the property. The bunkie offers a nice queen sized bed, a little area to the side with chairs and a table to relax if you need to get out of the sun/rain, and a very chill 70’s beach vibe. If the wind is just right, you will be able to hear the waves crash from the beach! The property has a perfect little hangout area where there is a nice big fire pit, patio table/chairs, as well as a portable bbq (you will just need to bring your own little Coleman propane cylinder with you.) If it’s a nice clear night, stare up to the sky and you may see the Milky Way above! There are a couple short loop trails that you can walk your dog on that loop from the bunkie/hangout area that will loop you back to either spot on the property. I just ask you to be respectful of cleaning up after your pets if you bring any. There are some pylons located in areas on the trails to indicate not to go past those any further due to it being not maintained past that those points. The land is located on probably one of the quietest roads in the County. You may see more off road vehicles if your on your way to the beach then you would cars. There is also a little outhouse located at the front of the property off to the side of the driveway. Twenty minutes from the town of Picton where you can find any amenity you require! A gorgeous town with tons of great restaurants, wineries, breweries, farm stands, artisans and shopping. Check out the rest of Prince Edward County by just adding a few more minutes to your trip in any direction to explore our other great towns around the community. Jacks Cabin was a perfect cozy cottage in the woods. Beautiful property and plenty of classic board games to play by fire light. The wood stove kept up very warm throughout the night. The only con is the outhouse has a window but no curtain. Its a small critique but worth mentioning. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would recommend anyone looking to get away for a quiet weekend check out this property.

Natalie's bunkie is a truly magical place! The cabin itself is so cozy and thoughtfully provisioned with everything you could need all season round, from practical supplies like cutlery and cookware and a wood-burning stove to keep you warm on cool autumn nights to board games and paperback books and even a portable DVD player for makeshift movie screenings, if you can peel your eyes away from the view of the starry night sky. The bunkie sits on a scenic body of water and a waterfall that make for great canoeing and swimming or admiring over morning coffee, and the rest of Natalie's property is bursting with whimsical art installments as well as gardens, fire pits, fairy lights, and fields of flowers. My partner and I have visited twice - in the summer and the in the fall - and have found each season and each stay so uniquely gorgeous and relaxing. If you are looking for a place to retreat from the noise of the world, the bunkie is perfect. Natalie is so warm and welcoming and has put so much care and attention into providing people with a home away from home.

Weekend Trip to Fifthwind

Highly recommended trip with Henry and his funky bunkie! I love every single minute in it. Very clean place, they provide everything you need. Just bring food. Henry is very friendly and intelligent, this bunkie he built is filled with of characters. It’ll be better if the fire pit was closer to the bunkie. It’s definitely a great place for couples and small families to spend some wonderful time at the farm.

Weekend Trip to Fifthwind

We arrived the on the holiday weekend for Thanksgiving and we were fortunate enough to get the Bunkie for an evening unrelatively short notice through HipCamp. The girlfriend and I wanted a small getaway even though we lived within 2 hours of the funky Bunkie. It was unfortunately raining and not very nice weather that evening. My girlfriend and I settled in made ourselves comfortable and we quite enjoyed our secluded getaway. A couple of times the stars broke out in the evening and it was a beautiful sight. That being said, Henry, the host give us a tour throughout his amazing property. If anybody who reads this post to the fullest, you will meet the "Doc Brown" of environmental building. What he's done with what he outsourced and is pretty mind-blowing at a construction standpoint. If you're into the stuff, Henry ia enthusiastic to share his creations. :) Henry and his wife have been amazing hosts and looking for ward to visiting again.

Monica is fantastic host. The campsite is clean. The yellow chalet is cute. Each cottage houses have there own personalities. They have the stuff you need for cooking and fire pit. Access to the water is good. Good for swimming boating and fishing. The hiking trails are marked. Highlly recommended if you like nature away from city noises.

This location was everything and more that was described. The lot was bigger than expected and the setup was amazing. While it was just the 2 of us there were many little spots within our site to sit and take in the nature around us. From the bumble bees to the massive amount of birds to the amazing beaver. The spot was very well stocked. We definitely over packed. My only complaint was we weren't there long enough. We will definitely be going back.

I love Riverbend. Such a magical place. The cabin is sweet and simple and has everything you need, but it's really the land. This morning I swam in the cold river water as two herons flew overhead and the fall leaves glowed around me. Magic. From the many chairs placed around the property giving you a stunning view to the screened in gazebo and over look at the waters edge. The water was low when I was there, but it provided the opportunity to walk among the rock bottom of the river! The wildlife was also abundant, and we caught a few glimpses of the Grey Otter! The hosts were helpful, kind and make every effort for their guests.

Weekend Trip to Cabin in the Woods

Hi all! We had a wonderful stay at the Blue Heron Bunkie. Super cute and cozy cabin; the host even put a little fire in the wood stove, so we’d have a warm first night. We scored with the view and I scored with a kindred spirit who owns this beautiful land. Did I mention the outdoor shower? Divine.
