Rustic bunkie located on 2 acres, is nestled among the trees beside a small, crystal clear lake. With 700 ft of untouched shoreline, privacy is second to none. From this lake, you can access 3 other lakes by provided canoe/kayak without portage.
The site is 35 min. from Algonquin Park and 11 km from MKC, the world-famous white water paddling centre.
10x10 main floor with sleeping loft. Solar power provides lighting & a propane furnace for cool nights. Solar lights outside provide ambient lighting-may be turned off if preferred.
The call of the loons & the barred owl will be your lullaby as you drift off to sleep after a day of hiking, paddling, or swimming.
There is no running water, you will have to bring your own drinking water. You will need to bring everything you require for cooking, eating and washing dishes. There is no sink, stove, or BBQ on site. As the site is off-grid, there are no appliances.
There is a split log bench beside the self-contained fire pit. Please bring your own firewood, matches/lighter, and/or firestarter materials. Small fires only please, as this is a well-treed location. Fires must be extinguished prior to going to bed — there is a bucket by the firepit.
If you are wondering if something is there, I suggest you reach out to check with me before arrival.
There is a new private outhouse on site. The outhouse is past the bunkie along the path. Solar lights work with the flick of a switch — one switch by the door, one by the bed.
You have access to 2 kayaks and 1 canoe, 2 adult lifejackets. These are located on the waterfront between the bunkie and the house @260 Matcheski Road. Please return these as you found them after each use. They are shared with the guests at the house. It is a natural shoreline at the bunkie, with a sandy bottom — pretty good swimming, actually! Absolutely no harsh chemicals/detergents in the water!
Please leave the site tidy and as you found it. Take your garbage and recycling. This is a small lakeside community — no loud music, please. Respect the solitude!

The Upper Place is a 100 acre managed forest that is carefully stewarded and curated for diversity of wildlife, healthy trees, and healthy people. In addition to the red pine plantation, there are wilder areas to explore with mixed hardwood and seasonal streams. Bring boots to explore! Directly across the road is a large Mennonite Farm with fresh produce, syrup, eggs and pies!
This property is large and I will usually have a chat to determine best placement for you/other guests depending on your needs and size of tent/trailer etc. But for now, I'm just started out and have the one spot with firepit. If you don't intend to have an outdoor fire, let me know and we can place you in another location!
You must have a self-contained method of disposing of all waste. Leave no trace. No garbage collection.
Some poison ivy and nettles in wilder swampy area far off the main path. I will provide a map...it's not likely you'll see it!
You may encounter deer, fox, rabbit, fisher, partridge, turkey, coyote. Be aware of the whereabouts of small children and animals at all times.

We also offer an interactive self-guided tour, allowing you to explore at your own pace alongside the pastures while viewing the alpacas in their natural environment.
There is plenty of graveled parking space for larger RVs to turn around and park. Parking is adjacent to the highway, though traffic noise is generally minimal during the evenings and overnight.

Fall brings a whole new dimension to this picturesque community nestled in the Upper Ottawa Valley. The fall foliage, with all its splendor during September and October, offers many opportunities for the camera buff or hiker.
The cabin is set on 100 plus acres of private, mostly forested land and has a beaver pond that creates habitat for many different species of birds and wildlife.
The Bunk House cabin can sleep six guests, with 2 single bunk beds and one single bunk over double bed. The kitchen area is complete with dishes, drink ware, pots, pans, utensils, toaster and coffee pot. A propane BBQ is also made available to our guests. The kitchen comes equipped with a 4 burner propane stove with an oven. A two burner camping stove can also be made available. A wood fired, air tight fireplace for warmth on those cooler nights, provides both comfort and ambiance (wood is provided).
Please note: guests must bring their own bedding/sleeping bag/pillow as we do not provide that.
The cabin is solar powered with a back up gasoline generator.

We loved this place so much! The overlooking patio, dock and beautiful swimming lake were the best. All the amenities made camping that much more convenient. If felt very private and so nice for the dog to be free to roam off leash for our stay. I was concerned a bit about proximity to the road, but it really was not an issue for us. We hope we can come back next year!

Loved the history that was written on the walls of this bunk house. Stan took the time to walk us through running the different systems that we were unfamiliar with. The solar, the generator. Beautiful area for a fire. Tools from years past and Stan shared some stories with us too. Exceptionally friendly and my boys and dog had an absolute blast. Nice cool breeze in the evenings, some rain here and there. But such is nature. Stan checked in here and there to make sure everything was okay, but never intrusive. I told my boys it felt like we were just visiting our grandpa's place. Thanks for everything Stan and will definitely be visiting again.

My two kids and I stayed in the Princeton, and it was absolutely perfect! Everything we needed was provided. It was very clean and comfortable and the forest setting was so beautiful and peaceful. We really enjoyed our evening camp fires, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and cycling. They also have peddle cars which both of my boys (5 and 10) loved. Chris and Cathy were so kind and welcoming and very quick to respond to any questions or requests. Chris even took the time to show the boys how to catch and hold the chickens in their coop! We can’t wait to go back and spend more time there as a family.

This is our 2nd year coming back to Monique’s place.
We love that spot. The water is amazing, clear and no weeds. It is a very private spot with lots of room to play and relax.
A real gem at Otter lake. The tent is very roomy and the mattress is really good.
Our dog was also happy with so
much space to run free. There is quite a bit of board games to play with as well as aquatic stuff, kayaks and so on. There is even a fan in the tent for the hot nights.
I cant have enough of your “peace of heaven”Monique.

Weekend Trip to Hidden Gem on Lorwell Lake

Great cabin, extremely quiet (we were there on weekdays). The nightsky is a great view, we heard lots of animal noises coming from everywhere, it was mystical. Our dog loved the place.
We did not get to meet Steve, but he is a super responsive host.

2 nights at Organic Farm Camping & Bunkie
Our third visit. Das Bunkhouse remains our favorite place. Unfortunate the trails were not cleared it seemed for hiking/treking. They have such beautiful property to explore....We miss Mother Oak.
Minor bout with an ant infestation, but we bought traps and delt with it. Checked all our luggage at home and were were clear.
As usual, kitchen and bathroom area, sleep area are great and very well set up. Water, wood, paper, toilet paper provided. Lanters provided (bring your own AA batteries) Some dishes need washing from previous guests, but overall clean.
We didn't get to use the outdoor showers this year, (so much rain anyway) but they have been greatly renovated and look beautiful, nice shower heads, cedar wood. I wish we could have tried them.
We got to chat with our host Mark about heirloom chickens, new goats in the family, and previous farm critters my daughter remember over the years.
Rain did not wash away our spirits here!

Amazing! The kids loved it, super close to the beach and Julie setup everything before hand which made the stay super easy! A ton to do close by and would recommend.

Second time here celebrating my son’s bday and it was again so much fun ! The beach is great for young kids and has all the water boats you will need ! Also great fishing !

We had a very relaxing stay and Monique has thought of everything you might need. The spot on the lake is beautiful and the water was warm and clear. You really only need to bring bedding, food, and clothes. Everything else is there. Our dog had a great time in the lake. Found a great butcher and bakery in Shawville. Would definitely do this again.

Everything was set up and ready. You did not need to bring anything other than bedding food and drinks. Location to Barry’s Bay and Algonquin Park is perfect.

Super cozy place! It’s a great site stocked up with all the necessities. Julie was so kind and was always happy to help with any questions we had including exact directions to get to some of the nearby attractions. The area is also beautiful and Moores Falls is a MUST SEE! Thanks Julie for everything!
