As mentioned, there is about a 40 ft incline just as you approach the clearing down by the lake . Please wear running/walking shoes and descend slowly down either of the 2 trails provided. The trail "Easy Street" is definitely an easier descent and climb. Learn more about this land: Situated just off the main road, The Ridge Retreat offers you the privacy and beauty of 6 unspoiled acres. Follow the gravel walkway/road down (5 min walk) to your amazing private dock situated on Howes Lake, Verona Ontario. Deep, clean water for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, etc. There are 2 firepits should you decide to have a campfire - one at the road site (RV and trailer) and one at the waters edge. This property provides privacy and solitude for nature lovers. The designated RV parking spot is up near the main road along with a very nice outhouse but if you decide to tent camp, there are a few choices that would bring you closer to the water's edge. An additional outhouse is located at the top of the incline to the lake. The gravel/asphalt trail down by the lake is the steeper of the 2 trails. Choose the "Easy Street" trail off to your right after you pass the stop sign indicating that no vehicles should drive beyond. This trail is a bit longer but a much more gradual incline. Grocery shopping, nature trails, etc are just a few minutes away. The scenic town of Westport is a 30 min drive away with amazing shops and a local winery.

Jacobs Landing was designed for an off-grid tiny home in the forest experience. Accommodating two adults only. We prefer no pets as we have much wildlife living in the forest and around the house. Our area, also known as the land of lakes, is gleaming with local farmers markets, great food, artisans, walking trails, many lakes and so much character. We hope you enjoy browsing through pictures and getting familiar with our Forest house. I have just completed building our forest dream and am very excited to share it. I will be working hard on the gardens this spring, with hopes to have fresh vegetables in season for our guests. We also continue to upgrade our walking trails. The forest house is an off grid set up that runs off of solar panels that charge batteries. With this system we are able to run the water pump and supply an inverter to charge devices. Most of the lights in the house are battery operated it doesn’t take much to light this place up. Our water is collected with two 1000 gallon drums supplied by natures finest, our rainfalls. With the water collected I was able to supply a kitchen sink and a shower. Our hot water on demand system works well for the shower. There is a gravity operated sink just outside of the privy. The perfect place to capture or recapture tranquility. An unplugged space for a clear mind, we take pride in being free from WI FI, hydro electricity and cell service is scarce. Signals vary in the forest depending on your server. Our forest house has a cozy, comfortable and unique ambiance. A wood stove for those chilli nights and mornings. An antique, but well functioning ice box. A cozy reading loft, cribbage board, cards and dice. Parking is off the dirt road and about 200 meters from the forest house. It’s a short and lovely walk. We use our UTV to get to and from the forest house and are more than happy to carry your belongings for your convenience. You can shut the gate for a sense of complete privacy once you’re in. Jacobs Landing lies next to Long Sault Creek and its Wetlands. We’ve made sitting spots along the marshland for birdwatching. Barbers lake is situated across from the main house (a ten minute walk). It’s a beautiful spot to spend some peaceful time on the water. A quant quiet lake with little population, no seadoos or speed boats make it a perfectly peaceful body of water with ample wildlife. Whether you enjoy fishing or just enjoying the great views and peaceful tranquil paddling you will certainly enjoy Barbers Lake. Don’t forget your camera! We have a barbeque outside and a two burner propane cook top inside. If you’re staying in the cooler seasons the woodstove works nicely for warming up soup and heating water. We offer a fire pit when there is no “fire ban”. Feel free to gather dead wood in the forest, and we offer wood for sale. When the “ban” is on, or the mosquitoes are annoying. Enjoy a lit screened Gazebo. There will be a visible notice posted in the forest about fire status. We take very much pride in what we have built, it truly is a place of tranquility. My greatest reward will be sharing this with you. I strive to be a great host. This is all new to me, I look forward to meeting you all and welcome your feedback. Available for June 2024

The forest house is an off grid set up that runs off of solar panels that charge batteries. With this system we are able to run the water pump and supply an inverter to charge devices. Most of the lights in the house are battery operated it doesn’t take much to light this place up. Our water is collected with two 1000 gallon drums supplied by natures finest, our rainfalls. With the water collected I was able to supply a kitchen sink and a shower. Our hot water on demand system works well for the shower. There is a gravity operated sink just outside of the privy. The perfect place to capture or recapture tranquility. An unplugged space for a clear mind, we take pride in being free from WI FI, hydro electricity and cell service is scarce. Signals vary in the forest depending on your server. Our forest house has a cozy, comfortable and unique ambiance. A wood stove for those chilli nights and mornings. An antique, but well functioning ice box. A cozy reading loft, cribbage board, cards and dice. Parking is off the dirt road and about 200 meters from the forest house. It’s a short and lovely walk. We use our UTV to get to and from the forest house and are more than happy to carry your belongings for your convenience. You can shut the gate for a sense of complete privacy once you’re in. Jacobs Landing lies next to Long Sault Creek and its Wetlands. We’ve made sitting spots along the marshland for birdwatching. Barbers lake is situated across from the main house (a ten minute walk). It’s a beautiful spot to spend some peaceful time on the water. A quant quiet lake with little population, no seadoos or speed boats make it a perfectly peaceful body of water with ample wildlife. Whether you enjoy fishing or just enjoying the great views and peaceful tranquil paddling you will certainly enjoy Barbers Lake. Don’t forget your camera! We have a barbeque outside and a two burner propane cook top inside. If you’re staying in the cooler seasons the woodstove works nicely for warming up soup and heating water. We offer a fire pit when there is no “fire ban”. Feel free to gather dead wood in the forest, and we offer wood for sale. When the “ban” is on, or the mosquitoes are annoying. Enjoy a lit screened Gazebo. There will be a visible notice posted in the forest about fire status. We take very much pride in what we have built, it truly is a place of tranquility. Beautiful location, it’s as quiet as the description makes it out to be. The campsite area that was provided was well kept and tidy. Some of the amenities were not available due to the lateness of the season and were disclosed prior to arrival. It’s a pull-in site that I feel limits the overall length of vehicle and trailer to get brother location so I’d recommend you check with the host about that if you’ve got a larger rig and may need to coordinate things. I’m relatively new to backing in trailers and I got it parked without any damage (and no spotter). I didn’t have an opportunity to explore the land as much as I wanted, there’s so much to explore. Eric was very welcoming, and provided ample firewood.

Weekend Trip to Bushwood!

First of all, id like to thank Brian and Jen for welcoming us on to their land. This was a fantasfic experience. Brain ended up meeting us and welcoming us to his area. He then took all of our stuff to site with his side by side. This spot was beautiful, set up extremly well and maintained and very quiet. We had a canoe to use, and although the water is shallow and weedy, a canoe here was a great time. We paddled and explored various islands. Night time the stars we great although the moon was too bright for them to truly shine, we were able to see saturn and its rings using our telescope. On our 4th and final day, brian and i had agreed on a time and he met us, using his side by side once again to cart our stuff back. He even helped us scour the site to make sure we didnt leave anything behind. Overall, it was an acceptional stay and the hospitality and kindness of Brian made it a trip to remember.

Weekend Trip to The Ridge Retreat

We had a great time at The Ridge Retreat! The campsite is beautiful, well-maintained, and the views are amazing. The fire pits were perfect, and we really appreciated how easy it was to set up camp near the road at the top of the hill. That spot is very convenient for loading and unloading gear, though being close to the road does mean you’ll occasionally hear passing cars and nearby dogs. Next time, we’d probably choose a spot closer to the water for more privacy and atmosphere. The trail leading down to the water and lower campsites is long with steep inclines, so be prepared for a bit of a trek. We brought a wagon, which made transporting our things manageable—without it, carrying everything would’ve been tough. The dock and water setup are absolutely gorgeous. We spent most of our days down there soaking in the views, and our dog had the best time playing by the water. We didn’t swim ourselves, and while we didn’t catch any fish, just being by the water was incredibly relaxing. The host was wonderful—very friendly, accommodating of our late arrival, and made sure we had plenty of firewood. Overall, we’d definitely recommend The Ridge Retreat to anyone looking for a scenic, peaceful camping experience with a balance of convenience and adventure.

It was an amazing spot to stay, the outhouse was super clean, it was very quiet and peaceful! It is definitely a hike to get to the water from where we decided to put our tent up so we will definitely remember to bring the wagon next time, to make bringing things up/down a bit easier. We brought our dogs and they LOOVED It - soo many squirrels to chase and they loved jumping off the dock Overall super nice spot!

This is our second visit this summer to Tiny Village Woodlands. Such a nice park! Very clean and well cared for. We loved this site. It is a large site, with good privacy. It has an upper and lower level which is right on the water. The incline between the levels is steep, which may not work for some but was fine for us. Monica is a great host, very friendly and accessible if you need anything. We have nothing but good things to say about our visit.

This was our second time visiting Eric's camp site. Weather was cool at night but we were lucky that the fire ban was lifted and that there was lots of firewood to keep us warm. It is such a great spot to enjoy with friends, we had a great time floating on the clear lake, watching all the fish. There are some deeper spots and a jumping rock which was good for swimming. We were lucky to experience a meteor shower while we were there and the dock provided great viewing. Eric was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. Already looking forward to coming back!

Weekend Trip to Perth Camping by the River

This was our third time here this season and we love it so much we booked another trip next month! Sitting by the river with our coffee and a book has become our new favourite way to unwind after a busy week. Our kids love being able to swim and paddle board right off the site, and they are still in direct sight line! Plenty of space to set up multiple tents, and the dining shelter came in handy on a wet morning. Tons of shade but some sunny spots, too, ideal mix of spaces. There is a bit of poison ivy around the edges of the site so take a peek around to make sure you know where it is. This has quickly become our favourite family get away and we will be coming back again and again!

The water was fabulous for swimming and paddling around. The site was very private and peaceful. We saw a beaver, some deer, frogs, snakes and a variety of birds. Despite the fire ban, we really enjoyed a (mostly) bug-free stay. Sandra was a very accommodating and gracious host.
