This site is located within a short drive to many of eastern Ontario’s tourist destinations. Hike Rock Dundar or Frontenac Provincial Park and experience their magnificent vistas. Visit the Opinicon Resort at Chaffey’s Lock for an ice cream. See the Thousand Islands on a Gananoque boat cruise, experience a sunset ceremony at Old Fort Henry, hop on the Kingston Trolley and tour the many historic sites in the Limestone City. There is so much to see and do. We invite you to enjoy nature’s beauty relaxing in a hammock, roasting marshmallows over a crackling campfire or just chilling as you escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. As mentioned already, this is an Off-grid site with no power. Potable water and basic necessities are provided. Pets are welcome but please clean up after your fur baby. Off grid cabin for rent Our newly renovated off grid cabin is situated on 200 acres of land. There is a queen size bed, as well as a single over double bed. It is heated with a propane fireplace, so you wake up cozy warm. There is a propane stove and BBQ for cooking. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes pots & pans, and utensils, as well as some basic supplies. (Coffee, tea, sugar, hot chocolate) The cabin is powered with solar and batteries, with generator back up, so we ask that you be mindful of how much power you use. There is no running water in the winter, but we will provide potable water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. There is a fire pit with wood for burning. An outhouse is on site. Suitable trails for hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, when conditions allow. There is access to some lovely 4wheel trails as well. In the summer there are lakes that are close by,(15 minute drive), for swimming and fishing. When conditions allow, there is ice fishing as well. In the early spring we produced maple syrup. It gets quite busy with people helping us, but you can see how maple syrup is produced. The sugar shack is across the road from the cabin. There are no guarantees that we will be making syrup on the days of your stay….that is up to Mother Nature. There is a winery located near Tweed, and Prince Edward County is about an hours drive from the cabin.

The outdoor kitchen is supplied with electricity for all of the appliances. Or use the shared propane BBQ or "campfire pit with a grill" to cook your meals. In the Green Man Garden, you can learn and teach organic practices and hand-harvest the culinary herbs we grow to add to your meals. You relax in the shared five-person Hot Tub we keep at 38C. The Big-screen TV uses WIFI, and so can you. Bring a canoe or boat to take a voyage up and down the pristine Irish Creek. You can book our rowboat if you sign a waiver to absolve us from any risks. The Rideau Canal system and the Railway Museum are minutes away. Tripadvisor webpages can provide "near me" tourist attractions and places to buy the food you will prepare in the outdoor kitchen or on the BBQ. Watch the birds, take pictures, and see flocks fly in murmuration patterns. Our frog pond complements a meditation area, enabling you to explore your peace of mind. The Irish Creek dock calls you to be one with Nature's bounties.

Solitary oasis on a rock

A small, unassuming cabin located on top of a solid granite rock formation near the village of Tweed, only minutes from town but it feels like you're away from it all. If you're looking for a solitude, this is the place. **send me a message and I can send a link to the YouTube video of the cabin and property** It is a private cozy cabin situated on top of a hill on a 1-acre lot which is all granite. You have to walk up the hill/rock for about 45 seconds from the driveway to get to the cabin, there are some landscaped stairs. There are 3 parking spaces for vehicles. Its a basic cabin, with a bathroom, kitchen and running water. Drinking water is provided in an 18L container with an electronic spout/tap for drinking and cooking use during your stay. You can bring your own additional water in containers. The 18L container can be refilled at the local grocery store (10 mins away) for $3. There is hydro in the cabin, space heaters, interior and exterior lighting, extension cords and lamps. There is a kitchen with an electric stove, oven, microwave, espresso and coffee makers, kitchen essentials, utensils, pots and pans. There is a propane BBQ, and a fire pit for your use. There is ample firewood on site for you to use, and we have a fire permit for the year. Common use dock and small boat, kayak, canoe launch is about 1 minute walking distance across the street, this dock is on the Moira river which leads into the bigger Stoco Lake. Vanderwater Conservation area is a few minutes away. There are lots of country roads for biking. The Moira river is great for fishing, paddling and boating. Cabin has a sofa which converts to a pull-out double bed, one single/twin size bed with fitted sheets, and one rollaway twin size bed. All beds have fitted sheets. You have to bring your own linens, blankets, comforters and pillows. You can also bring sleeping bags and put them on top of the beds if that's your preference. There is a stereo system with aux-in cables to connect to the headphone jack on your phones/cd/mp3 players to play music. (no bluetooth). We, (Rusty and Marty) are co-habitating in separate residences on the same property with a shared vision of community and sustainability. Our residences are not off grid yet but the cottage, (which is for guests to rent, Rusty"s tiny house, Marty's tipi and the school bus conversion all share a 60 amp service. We collectively aspire to a simple and natura,l alternative way of life, living as close to nature as we can. We utilize the sun and earth to create our own energy and food sources and leave a minimum carbon footprint. We actively try to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as we can in an effort to honour Mother Earth and her gifts. Each residence has a lovely view of the lake and private areas.
