The Stonefield Estate Gazebos

1. The Stonefield Estate Gazebos

38km from Cobourg · 3 sites
The Stonefield Gazebos has 3 luxurious units on a beautiful 100 + acre piece of heaven. Our original Lakeside Gazebo is steps from our private lake with its own dock. The White Oaks Gazebo is in our old white oak forest and The Cedars is in our Cedar forest beside a stream and river. Each of these 3 luxurious units are not in close proximity to each other. We designed it this way in order to give our guests the utmost privacy. Each gazebo has its own chic and private outhouse with shower area. All gazebos have beautiful beds with comfy and ultra soft bedding. They are equip with everything you should need from plates, cutlery, BBQ utensils, tea kettle, coffee french press, wine glasses, cups etc. There is a propane BBQ with a side burner ready to cook your meals. There is a dock where you will find the canoes, a kayak, paddles and life jackets. If you paddle out to the middle of the lake you will find a raft with 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella on it. Bring some drinks and snacks, because once there, you will not want to leave. Our curious loons will no doubt swim up close to say hello. Enjoy!! PLEASE NOTE: This retreat does not have electricity. However, a small, silent portable power station is available in each accommodation for guests who wish to charge their phones, laptops and small electrical devices. ***This property is an animal-free zone due to SEVERE allergies. Please don't ask if you can bring your dog, cat etc, or try to sneak them in. This applies to service animals as well unfortunately. Just because different terms are used to describe the same thing, a dog is a dog etc, whether it is your pet or a service animal. Although we do sympathize with people who require service animals, my severe allergies do not know the difference and I do not want to die. Our property is exempt from domestic animals entering the grounds, we ask that you please respect this. We also have deer and other creatures that live around the gazebos. The scent of a dog or other animal would scare them off, fundamentally changing the nature of the experience and impacting it for other guests. This is a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with nature and yourselves, disconnect from the grid and stresses of everyday life. It's a pretty special place and a one of a kind experience. Historical Significance of the property When we first saw the property we were awestruck by its beauty and allure. We were captured by the natural springs, river and stream. It wasn't until after the deal closed that we found out that we also had a lake. What an incredible surprise and gift. It also wasn't until much later that we learned about the historical significance of this special place. It turns out that our property is part of the Percy Portage, which was an important route used for centuries by the Hurons, Iroquois and Mississaugas. It also formed the basis of the first road in the region in the early 19th century for settlers an those heading north. Samuel de Champlain used this portage in September 1615 when he travelled south with his Huron and Algonquin allies on their way to upstate New York. In the 1970's, a group of students from Trent University retraced and marked the route by adding orange metal markers to some of the trees along the way. Some of them are still present today.

70km from Cobourg · 3 sites
Our glampsite at Marmora Retreat is tucked into a peaceful corner of the property. We have three glamping domes on site, that look out over our alpaca field. Enjoy wide open skies, fresh country air, and uninterrupted views of pastureland. Our two Boho-Luxe domes blends elevated comfort with the simplicity of outdoor living — plush beds, thoughtfully designed interiors, spa-inspired washrooms, and private decks made for slow mornings and star-filled evenings. Step outside and you’re immersed in the heart of the farm: a herd of gentle alpacas roaming nearby, horses in the distance, and open space that invites you to wander, pause, and breathe a little deeper. For those drawn to a more classic, rustic glamping experience, our Sky-View Dome offers a simpler, wood-stove–forward stay that feels closer to traditional camping — just with a little more comfort. With panoramic views and a cozy cabin atmosphere, Sky-View invites guests to tend the fire, layer up on cooler evenings, and fully embrace the rhythm of the seasons. It’s ideal for those who appreciate the charm of a hands-on, back-to-nature escape while still enjoying the beauty of the alpaca fields and open countryside. The alpaca field is more than a backdrop — it’s part of the experience. Guests often find themselves lingering by the fence with coffee in hand, watching the herd interact, graze, and curiously observe their human neighbours. It’s grounding, a little magical, and completely unhurried. With wellness amenities like sauna and cold plunge, and acres of quiet countryside between Toronto and Ottawa, the glampsite at Marmora Retreat offers a refined nature escape — where comfort and connection live side by side.

If you allow maybe our barn cat "JeffandSue" will join you for a cuddle.Wake up with the sun or our rooster and enjoy our super delicious farm-style breakfast at 9.30 am as the alpacas are fed by the farm staff.Spend your day at Haute Goat enjoying some of the wonderful experiences before heading back home.Do not forget to bring your camera because you will want to capture every memorable moment to share with your family and friends. This is your opportunity to truly be "one with the herd!"Please note that there are no Farm experiences scheduled on Mondays and Tuesdays. Not suitable for kids as much as we love kids to enjoy the farm life, the Alpaca Sleepover is probably not the right experience for kids under 9. It’s a limited area in the alpaca pen, with a queen-size mattress and only limited space beside it. In addition to that alpaca, behavior can be disappointing for children.Alpacas are very curious animals and they want to know who you are. If you sit/stand still they will come close to you and maybe give you a kiss. But they are also extremely timid and shy and do not like to be petted. But if you earn their trust they will let you touch them.

Great for canoes, kayaks, bird and wildlife watching with spectacular star gazing. This property was part of an old homestead and as such I am still finding things so please respect the caution tape. Some finds are treasures (European Grapes, Bergamot, French Roses, Asparagus, Rhubarb, Ramps, Fiddle-heads) and others not so much. I am re purposing what I can and collecting the rest for disposal as I nurture this land back to what it was meant to be, paradise. There is an outdoor shower available as well. If you are green minded you are welcome here!

Learn more about this land:INCLUDES FARM TO FORK BREAKFAST FOR 2!The majestic Huacaya alpaca herd at Haute Goat Farm invites you to come to spend the night with them!Come and experience a very unique getaway from your everyday routine. Leave your fast-paced life behind, unplug from your normal routine and immerse yourself in one of the most beautiful spots in Northumberland County. Simply listen to the world around you which often is muted by the rush of our daily lives. Slow things down and enjoy the simple happiness of life in the country and tap into your true self. You may show up early at Haute Goat and enjoy the farm until check-in between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Once you have settled in you may head out for dinner at one of Port Hope's many wonderful restaurants or you can arrange to have dinner prepared for you in our Screaming Goat Cafe upon request.Enjoy the peace and quiet of a country evening. Walk the farm trails as the sunsets. Relax as you watch the night sky light up with stars and when you are ready to turn in for the night head to your private space inside the alpaca enclosure and settle into a big, comfy queen-size bed.Listen to the sounds of nature; perhaps even some coyotes off in the distance. Our livestock guardian dogs keep the farm safe and the alpacas will keep watch over you, humming contently, as you drift off to sleep.
