Learn more about this land:This comfortable and spacious yurt is located on the 30-acre property of the historic Paisley Mill along the Teeswater river. With three large windows, a dome skylight, and wool felt insulation, the yurt provides a wonderful "glamping" experience. There is a double bed and a single bed in the yurt along with a cooler, table, chairs, and storage space. In the future there will be solar power, but right now the lighting available is by a battery powered lantern (provided). Next to the yurt is a picnic table, fire pit, and a sawdust toilet. There are basic utensils, plates, bowls, pots and pans available in the yurt. Bring your own: camp stove, water, bedding, pillows Important to Note: The only heating source is a wood stove. You need to be comfortable using a wood stove safely to stay at this yurt. While the yurt site only a short distance from the main mill residence, it is secluded and offers a beautiful private camping space. The town of Paisley is only a 10 minute walk from the yurt. THE AREA You will have access to 700+ acres of conservation/county forest beginning at your campsite. You can walk out of your tent and explore! There are 2 small lakes within a short drive of Dusty Hills. McCullough Lake is about 5 minutes by car or an easy bike ride to the public beach. Williams Lake is less than 10 minutes by car and also has public access. We are a 10-minute drive from Kinghurst Forest, which is 370 hectares of old-growth forest designated as an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest (ANSI). Centrally located, just south of the Bruce Peninsula -- you will be perfectly situated for day trips to Georgian Bay or Lake Huron. The sandy beaches of Port Elgin, Southampton or Sauble Beach are a 40-minute drive. Access points to the Saugeen River for fishing/paddling are also nearby. LOGISTICS We are a short bike ride away from the town of Williamsford, which contains a sprawling bookstore/café in an old mill, the famous Williamsford Pie Company, and a well-stocked convenience store (LCBO Licensed). Any other shopping needs can likely be satisfied in Owen Sound, 20 minutes north of us. We can provide drinking water, and have folding tables and chairs for your site if you would like them. This was a magical and tranquil camping escape. The waterfront spot was perfectly quiet and peaceful. The clear skies and zero light pollution provided phenomenal stargazing nightly. Chris was very generous host. He provided us an abundant and complimentary supply of firewood. It made our evenings effortless and cozy. We will definitely return!

Lots of beautiful trees and nature to explore around the yurt.

My partner and I stayed at Emily’s Yurt this past thanksgiving weekend 2025 as a last minute booking. Emily accommodated our stay and was very quick to respond. The yurt was stunning, we’ve stayed at many hip camps and this was by far the best experience. From a eco friendly outhouse with a wood chip system, very clean and well stocked with necessities. The yurt had all supplies needed, along with many games and other activities to do. Can’t thank Emily enough for sharing her beautiful property and being so welcoming.

Excellent campsite, the river access is a great spot with stairs going down. Do wear good water shoes for the large rocks. We made a raft of four donuts and floated down the river to the conservation site. Very fun, the trek up river was a task as the river seems slow when going down. Have fun! Next to the field we saw lots of butterflies and stars!

We were lucky to have the space to ourselves while we were there, Chris is very nice and accommodating. There is one small site that is secluded and close to the water with shade all day, but the rest are more open with no division between campers. The river was awesome and so nice to have to so close to our site, we went many times in the day. We brought our dog who LOVES to swim and he had a blast swimming against the current. The current is strong, so fun to walk up and float back, it’s rocky so bring water shoes, lots of crayfish to watch. There is even a small space by the river to bring chairs. All in all we had a great time!

Back 2 Zen is a private, tranquil camping spot thriving with an abundance of greenery and good vibes! We camped during very hot weather and were able to live and sleep comfortably due to the surrounding forest and short commute to the water. The highlight of our stay was the complete and total privacy offered, which is hard to find during the summer camping season. Communication with the hosts was quick and efficient. Fantastic camping site!

Where to go

Georgian Bay Islands National Park

Sixty-three islands make up Georgian Bay Islands National Park—part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Beausoleil Island is the park’s largest at 8-kilometres long and features lakeside vistas that campers can hike or bike to for the night. The park also hosts 130 campsites among several campgrounds—some are more primitive while others offer amenities such as flush toilets and showers. Keep in mind that the park is only accessible by boat or kayak, but there are shuttle boats available.

Tobermory

Scuba divers flock to Tobermory, the “freshwater scuba diving capital of the world.” Explore Bruce Peninsula Grotto, a wave-carved cave in the bay. Or explore shipwreck dive sites at Fathom Five National Marine Park. Then visit nearby Driftwood Cove to witness its famed stands of cliff’s edge trees—among the oldest trees in eastern North America. Its distinctive ecosystem is also home to rare orchids, like the ram’s head lady slipper. Bruce Peninsula National Park is renowned for the Bruce Trail that meanders along the crags of the Niagara Escarpment. Find rustic cabin rentals, lodges, and campsites with washrooms and picnic tables throughout Tobermory—near the cove and other attractions.

Sauble Beach

Sauble Beach, part of the eastern shores of Lake Huron, is widely known as Canada’s best beach, stretching more than 11 kilometres. Visitors come for day trips to swim, sail, beachcomb, and enjoy postcard-worthy sunsets. Campers can also find many RV parks, campsites, and cabin rentals nearby in Sauble Falls Provincial Park for beach camping experiences with amenities like electric hookups, showers, firepits, potable water, and comfort stations.

Head to Ontario’s Golden Horseshoe to check out Niagara Falls.
