Rustic bunkie located on 2 acres, is nestled among the trees beside a small, crystal clear lake. With 700 ft of untouched shoreline, privacy is second to none. From this lake, you can access 3 other lakes by provided canoe/kayak without portage.
The site is 35 min. from Algonquin Park and 11 km from MKC, the world-famous white water paddling centre.
10x10 main floor with sleeping loft. Solar power provides lighting & a propane furnace for cool nights. Solar lights outside provide ambient lighting-may be turned off if preferred.
The call of the loons & the barred owl will be your lullaby as you drift off to sleep after a day of hiking, paddling, or swimming.
There is no running water, you will have to bring your own drinking water. You will need to bring everything you require for cooking, eating and washing dishes. There is no sink, stove, or BBQ on site. As the site is off-grid, there are no appliances.
There is a split log bench beside the self-contained fire pit. Please bring your own firewood, matches/lighter, and/or firestarter materials. Small fires only please, as this is a well-treed location. Fires must be extinguished prior to going to bed — there is a bucket by the firepit.
If you are wondering if something is there, I suggest you reach out to check with me before arrival.
There is a new private outhouse on site. The outhouse is past the bunkie along the path. Solar lights work with the flick of a switch — one switch by the door, one by the bed.
You have access to 2 kayaks and 1 canoe, 2 adult lifejackets. These are located on the waterfront between the bunkie and the house @260 Matcheski Road. Please return these as you found them after each use. They are shared with the guests at the house. It is a natural shoreline at the bunkie, with a sandy bottom — pretty good swimming, actually! Absolutely no harsh chemicals/detergents in the water!
Please leave the site tidy and as you found it. Take your garbage and recycling. This is a small lakeside community — no loud music, please. Respect the solitude!

This property was settled by the Irish in the mid 1800’s. Originally inhabited by Algonquin peoples the land was cleared for farming and they erected several building including a large German style hand hewn timber frame barn which still stands and is used today. The farm house was built in the 1910 and the original log cabins have been reframed into artistic buildings. It is wild to look around and imagine what life was like before now in a time when the land had no boundry lines and was traversed by indigenous peoples of this area. We have a great respect for those who have walked before us and a deep sense of gratitude for being here today.

Guests can access hours of private hiking trails along the river and through the forest. An open area next to the cabin is available for lounging and games as well as viewing of the night sky with no light pollution.
Located an approximate 200ft from the York River, our 700 sqft cabin features vaulted ceilings with ample amounts of sunlight for a cozy yet airy feel. It is fully winterized with baseboard heaters and a wood stove.

Fall brings a whole new dimension to this picturesque community nestled in the Upper Ottawa Valley. The fall foliage, with all its splendor during September and October, offers many opportunities for the camera buff or hiker.
The cabin is set on 100 plus acres of private, mostly forested land and has a beaver pond that creates habitat for many different species of birds and wildlife.
The Bunk House cabin can sleep six guests, with 2 single bunk beds and one single bunk over double bed. The kitchen area is complete with dishes, drink ware, pots, pans, utensils, toaster and coffee pot. A propane BBQ is also made available to our guests. The kitchen comes equipped with a 4 burner propane stove with an oven. A two burner camping stove can also be made available. A wood fired, air tight fireplace for warmth on those cooler nights, provides both comfort and ambiance (wood is provided).
Please note: guests must bring their own bedding/sleeping bag/pillow as we do not provide that.
The cabin is solar powered with a back up gasoline generator.
An outdoor fire pit with seating is close by, as well as an outhouse. Walking trails along the beaver pond and property are maintained for your hiking pleasure. There is ample parking for vehicles and trailers.

Originally inhabited by Algonquin peoples the land was cleared for farming and they erected several building including a large German style hand hewn timber frame barn which still stands and is used today. The farm house was built in the 1910 and the original log cabins have been reframed into artistic buildings. It is wild to look around and imagine what life was like before now in a time when the land had no boundry lines and was traversed by indigenous peoples of this area. We have a great respect for those who have walked before us and a deep sense of gratitude for being here today.

Go for a hike up the mountain, meander along the streams, walk to the lake 15min down a beautiful country road. Enjoy what we have going on at the art barn where we host artists in residence studios, music jams, workshops and events.
Enjoy an evening around your private campfire or perhaps join some folks gathered at the communal fire pit under the stars.

You will need to bring your own bedding, toiletries, and utensils for cooking. Please leave the cabin exactly as you found it. In the winter you can ice fish, cross country ski, hike on Baptiste lake or hop on the nearby snowmobile trail for days of riding. An open area next to the cabin is available for lounging and games as well as viewing of the night sky with no light pollution.
Located an approximate 200ft from the York River, our 700 sqft cabin features vaulted ceilings with ample amounts of sunlight for a cozy yet airy feel. It is fully winterized with baseboard heaters and a wood stove.

The cabin is set on 100 plus acres of private, mostly forested land and has a beaver pond that creates habitat for many different species of birds and wildlife.
The Bunk House cabin can sleep six guests, with 2 single bunk beds and one single bunk over double bed. The kitchen area is complete with dishes, drink ware, pots, pans, utensils, toaster and coffee pot. A propane BBQ is also made available to our guests. The kitchen comes equipped with a 4 burner propane stove with an oven. A two burner camping stove can also be made available. A wood fired, air tight fireplace for warmth on those cooler nights, provides both comfort and ambiance (wood is provided).
Please note: guests must bring their own bedding/sleeping bag/pillow as we do not provide that.
The cabin is solar powered with a back up gasoline generator.
An outdoor fire pit with seating is close by, as well as an outhouse. Walking trails along the beaver pond and property are maintained for your hiking pleasure. There is ample parking for vehicles and trailers.

The Cabin itself was beautiful and has more than enough amenities to enjoy a stay comfortably. Directions were clear and easily understood. The experience was very peaceful and enjoyable, literally so quiet out there. Lots of trails to explore and we were able to skate on the lake and the hot tub was a big bonus. A big thank you to Rocky and Jason, who helped my guarded dog socialize so he could enjoy some play with a pup friend! We all had an amazing time, will be returning in the near future!

Our 1 night winter stay in the cabin was magical! We appreciated the eco-friendly ash that the host August had spread on the steep parts of the driveway, path and stairs for traction and that the wood stove was already warm to greet us.
Our party of 6 enjoyed a winter hike (challenging), sledding right next to the cabin, and could have skated on the pond if we had stayed longer! Sitting around the campfire with moonlit snow and zero light or noise (other than cowbells from the trio of bovine wanderers!) was truly special.
Winter-weight sleeping bags and hot water bottles were enough to keep us warm thru the night (-15C outside). The rustic cabin was exactly as pictured in the listing and the composting toilet shed was bright and clean.
We would like to come back in the summertime to explore the creek and trails.
Hipcamper tip: pack dishtowels, headlamps, and indoor slippers.

What a wonderful time away where it felt that time stood still in the midst of falling leaves and glorious rays of sunshine. Jason and Susie ensured to meet all needs with prompt responses and, when needed, support. We enjoyed viewing the property, a peaceful boat ride and, of course, the accommodations. We didn't want to leave. A true bucket filling experience where we left feeling relaxed and grateful. Only regret is not booking an extra day.

We ended up being able to drive all the way in to our site in our Corolla, there was only one rock that stuck out a bit but Sarah warned us about it. This was our 2nd time coming to Iris's property. We've agreed this will be an annual trip for us. Iris is so welcoming and kind. We love getting to chit chat with her during our stay. Her new dog Thunder was an absolute joy to be around. We were lucky to see Sterling again this year as well. You really don't need for much when you stay here. Trailer is very well equipped with the things you'll need to cook meals. Lorwell lake is stunning! Very clear clean water, great for swimming and kayaking. We absolutely love staying here!
