We’re Lily, Wesley and Danielle, your hosts at Cabin Glory. We're a family of joyful and curious nature lovers. We started this journey with Cabin Glory on a whim, driven by a deep desire to spend more time experiencing the wild around us. Lily was seeking out a new project, and Danielle was embarking on her handy-woman career. There's nothing quite like hearing the symphony of rustling leaves as the wind passes by, being carried by the gentle movement of the river, or simply in awe of the magnificent horizon.

Cabin Glory is a place intended for connection. Slow down, take a breath, and find what it is that you’ve been missing. Whether it’s a sense of adventure searching for wild animals on a winter hike, a slow morning with a book, a late night with the stars, or stories over a campfire - you’re sure to find it here.
Situated on 18 acres, available to our guests we have our main cabin, a dining gazebo, and a riverside gazebo. The area is well treed in for privacy and a true feeling of an escape. Guests can access hours of private hiking trails along the river and through the forest. An open area next to the cabin is available for lounging and games as well as viewing of the night sky with no light pollution.
Located an approximate 200ft from the York River, our 700 sqft cabin features vaulted ceilings with ample amounts of sunlight for a cozy yet airy feel. It is fully winterized with baseboard heaters and a wood stove.

Cozy cabin suitable for 1-2 people. This is a small heated 8 x 10 cabin with a queen-sized bed for sleeping and an outhouse for your use. The cabin has minimal cooking items for your use, Coleman stove, percolator for coffee, and campfire tripod are available. You will need to bring your own bedding, toiletries, and utensils for cooking. Please leave the cabin exactly as you found it. You will need to bring your own propane for the Coleman stove and Martin heater.
In the winter you can ice fish, cross country ski, hike on Baptiste lake or hop on the nearby snowmobile trail for days of riding. The cottage is at the edge of a large wilderness area. We supply an ultra-safe large canoe with paddles and lifejackets. It's an easy and fun 15 minute paddle to reach the cottage.
The cottage is an artistic gem on a safe and quiet lake with beavers and loons and numerous bird species -- owls, herons, hawks, ospreys, and many migratory songbirds. In over 20 years of experience on the lake, we've seen no bears. It's a cosy three-room place with a small bedroom (8x12) with an antique double bed; a main room (16 x12) with a single bed; and a kitchen (8X12). Sleeps 3, max.
Access to the cottage is up a short set of irregular stone stairs from the lake. This could be an impediment for elderly or frail people. The lake is not a private lake. There are other cottages. But it's a very quiet lake and often there's no one else there.
The landscape is very similar to Algonquin Park's. North Kawartha is famous as the birthplace of the canoe. This is a thinly-populated landscape of rugged granite bluffs, thickly-forested hills and valleys, and gorgeous lakes that remain quiet and peaceful even during the hottest summer weeks.
This place was made by and for lovers, artists, poets, musicians, dreamers, writers, environmentalists, ecologists, escapists...and their children.

This property was settled by the Irish in the mid 1800’s. Originally inhabited by Algonquin peoples the land was cleared for farming and they erected several building including a large German style hand hewn timber frame barn which still stands and is used today. The farm house was built in the 1910 and the original log cabins have been reframed into artistic buildings. It is wild to look around and imagine what life was like before now in a time when the land had no boundry lines and was traversed by indigenous peoples of this area. We have a great respect for those who have walked before us and a deep sense of gratitude for being here today.

There is no running water, you will have to bring your own drinking water. You will need to bring everything you require for cooking, eating and washing dishes. There is no sink, stove, or BBQ on site. As the site is off-grid, there are no appliances.
There is a split log bench beside the self-contained fire pit. Please bring your own firewood, matches/lighter, and/or firestarter materials. Small fires only please, as this is a well-treed location. Fires must be extinguished prior to going to bed — there is a bucket by the firepit.
If you are wondering if something is there, I suggest you reach out to check with me before arrival.
There is a new private outhouse on site. The outhouse is past the bunkie along the path. Solar lights work with the flick of a switch — one switch by the door, one by the bed.
You have access to 2 kayaks and 1 canoe, 2 adult lifejackets. These are located on the waterfront between the bunkie and the house @260 Matcheski Road. Please return these as you found them after each use. They are shared with the guests at the house. It is a natural shoreline at the bunkie, with a sandy bottom — pretty good swimming, actually! Absolutely no harsh chemicals/detergents in the water!
Please leave the site tidy and as you found it. Take your garbage and recycling. This is a small lakeside community — no loud music, please. Respect the solitude!

In the cabin we have a double bed, a table and 2 chairs, a two-burner stove with oven, a washing up station. Fall asleep listening to owls call and wolves howling in the distance. Wake to the sounds of the animals on the farm, you may even be able to arrange to gather your own eggs for breakfast!
We are confident you won't want to leave the farm, but in case you choose to explore beyond our 98 acres there is lots to still see and do within only a short drive.
We are located close to Buckhorn, where you can explore more lakes, pick your own berries or visit pumpkin patches, pick up groceries or enjoy the restaurants in Buckhorn. Also, in nearby Bobcaygeon you can find world-class shopping and dining, parks, beaches, festivals, a heritage village, and even more lakes.
One hour north of us is Haliburton, with the Haliburton Forest and Wolf visitation Centre, Sir Sam's ski resort, shops and restaurants, and Sir Sandford Fleming's college of Fine Arts.
Lakefield is only 35 minutes away offering shopping, a world famous literary festival, fine dining, and antique shows most weekends.
Trent University is only 40 minutes south, in Peterborough where you can watch Peterborough Petes play hockey, attend free music festivals in the summer months, experience the best restaurants around, shop, see a movie, watch the boats in the Lift Locks, a World Heritage, visit the canoe museum, skate on the canal, and much more.

Cabin Glory is a place intended for connection. Slow down, take a breath, and find what it is that you’ve been missing. Situated on 18 acres, available to our guests we have our main cabin, a dining gazebo, and a riverside gazebo. The area is well treed in for privacy and a true feeling of an escape. Guests can access hours of private hiking trails along the river and through the forest. An open area next to the cabin is available for lounging and games as well as viewing of the night sky with no light pollution.
Located an approximate 200ft from the York River, our 700 sqft cabin features vaulted ceilings with ample amounts of sunlight for a cozy yet airy feel. It is fully winterized with baseboard heaters and a wood stove.

The cottage is at the edge of a large wilderness area. We supply an ultra-safe large canoe with paddles and lifejackets. It's an easy and fun 15 minute paddle to reach the cottage.
The cottage is an artistic gem on a safe and quiet lake with beavers and loons and numerous bird species -- owls, herons, hawks, ospreys, and many migratory songbirds. In over 20 years of experience on the lake, we've seen no bears. It's a cosy three-room place with a small bedroom (8x12) with an antique double bed; a main room (16 x12) with a single bed; and a kitchen (8X12). Sleeps 3, max.
Access to the cottage is up a short set of irregular stone stairs from the lake. This could be an impediment for elderly or frail people. The lake is not a private lake. There are other cottages. But it's a very quiet lake and often there's no one else there.
The landscape is very similar to Algonquin Park's. North Kawartha is famous as the birthplace of the canoe. This is a thinly-populated landscape of rugged granite bluffs, thickly-forested hills and valleys, and gorgeous lakes that remain quiet and peaceful even during the hottest summer weeks.
This place was made by and for lovers, artists, poets, musicians, dreamers, writers, environmentalists, ecologists, escapists...and their children.

This property was settled by the Irish in the mid 1800’s. Originally inhabited by Algonquin peoples the land was cleared for farming and they erected several building including a large German style hand hewn timber frame barn which still stands and is used today. The farm house was built in the 1910 and the original log cabins have been reframed into artistic buildings. It is wild to look around and imagine what life was like before now in a time when the land had no boundry lines and was traversed by indigenous peoples of this area. There is a split log bench beside the self-contained fire pit. Please bring your own firewood, matches/lighter, and/or firestarter materials. Small fires only please, as this is a well-treed location. Fires must be extinguished prior to going to bed — there is a bucket by the firepit.
If you are wondering if something is there, I suggest you reach out to check with me before arrival.
There is a new private outhouse on site. The outhouse is past the bunkie along the path. Solar lights work with the flick of a switch — one switch by the door, one by the bed.
You have access to 2 kayaks and 1 canoe, 2 adult lifejackets. These are located on the waterfront between the bunkie and the house @260 Matcheski Road. Please return these as you found them after each use. They are shared with the guests at the house. It is a natural shoreline at the bunkie, with a sandy bottom — pretty good swimming, actually! Absolutely no harsh chemicals/detergents in the water!
Please leave the site tidy and as you found it. Take your garbage and recycling. This is a small lakeside community — no loud music, please. Respect the solitude!

We are confident you won't want to leave the farm, but in case you choose to explore beyond our 98 acres there is lots to still see and do within only a short drive.
We are located close to Buckhorn, where you can explore more lakes, pick your own berries or visit pumpkin patches, pick up groceries or enjoy the restaurants in Buckhorn. Also, in nearby Bobcaygeon you can find world-class shopping and dining, parks, beaches, festivals, a heritage village, and even more lakes.
One hour north of us is Haliburton, with the Haliburton Forest and Wolf visitation Centre, Sir Sam's ski resort, shops and restaurants, and Sir Sandford Fleming's college of Fine Arts.
Lakefield is only 35 minutes away offering shopping, a world famous literary festival, fine dining, and antique shows most weekends.

The wood stove was easy to maintain and keep burning, and the locale was quiet and so gorgeous. We loved coming back from a day of activities to watch old movies on vhs.

The experience was very peaceful and enjoyable, literally so quiet out there. Lots of trails to explore and we were able to skate on the lake and the hot tub was a big bonus. A big thank you to Rocky and Jason, who helped my guarded dog socialize so he could enjoy some play with a pup friend! We all had an amazing time, will be returning in the near future!

Great cozy little cabin. Amazing views of the river and lake. Great to explore with the dog and go on a trek through the nearby woods. Private and secluded. Directions were easy to follow. Cabin has everything you need that's listed.

Dale's yurt-style tent was an excellent spot for us to meet up and rest for one night before our canoe trip in the Kawartha Highlands. Dale was quick to respond to my questions and went out of his way to provide wine glasses. The electric fireplace was a welcome feature on a cool night. We made breakfast at the well-supplied outdoor kitchen. The light at the outhouse was a nice touch, though it could have used some cleaning. Thanks a bunch, Dale.

2 nights at Natural Joy! Cosy Canoe Cottage
Paul's cabin is so cozy and situated within such a stunning and remote area.
We loved canoeing around Ragged Lake and looking the beautiful big faces of the Canadian Shield. We also loved just starring out at the lake and looking at the birds, the trees and the stars. My partner and I had such a lovely time and will definitely be visiting again!

We had a wonderful time here. The place was private, beautiful, clean and cozy. Dale was an amazing host - super responsive, flexible and a pleasure to deal with. If the outdoor shower setup and the outhouse can be fixed up a bit that would make it even more comfortable, but overall it was a great value for the price and I would 100% recommend this.

We had again an amazing experience at Sharrons. This was our second time staying here and i believe now this is going be every year. My 5 yr old loved every single moment here especially the beautiful animals. She fed them, played with them and even held a bunny. It was a dream come true for her. Natalie's bunkie is a truly magical place! The cabin itself is so cozy and thoughtfully provisioned with everything you could need all season round, from practical supplies like cutlery and cookware and a wood-burning stove to keep you warm on cool autumn nights to board games and paperback books and even a portable DVD player for makeshift movie screenings, if you can peel your eyes away from the view of the starry night sky.
The bunkie sits on a scenic body of water and a waterfall that make for great canoeing and swimming or admiring over morning coffee, and the rest of Natalie's property is bursting with whimsical art installments as well as gardens, fire pits, fairy lights, and fields of flowers.
My partner and I have visited twice - in the summer and the in the fall - and have found each season and each stay so uniquely gorgeous and relaxing. If you are looking for a place to retreat from the noise of the world, the bunkie is perfect. Natalie is so warm and welcoming and has put so much care and attention into providing people with a home away from home.

Weekend Trip to Big Rock Eco Retreat & Campgrounds
What a wonderful time away where it felt that time stood still in the midst of falling leaves and glorious rays of sunshine. Jason and Susie ensured to meet all needs with prompt responses and, when needed, support. We enjoyed viewing the property, a peaceful boat ride and, of course, the accommodations. We didn't want to leave. A true bucket filling experience where we left feeling relaxed and grateful. Only regret is not booking an extra day.
