The Marsh was luckily available for a last-minute booking, and I am so glad it worked out to have Ashley as my host for my short stay on Gabriola! She's got great advice on areas to check out, weekly events on the island, and such a warm and welcoming demeanor. The site had all I needed: I set up my tent in a little blackberry nook and found the jungle composting toilet to be quite the novelty.
I'll be keeping her place in mind for when I return to Gabriola.

My partner and I had a lovely time staying at The Marsh. It was a quiet and relaxing place to spend the weekend. Ashley was fantastic, she sent us helpful tips on where to go and what to see, and was very accommodating throughout our stay. We would definitely return and spend more time at this site. The directions were clear, and all the information we needed was provided. The facilities were exactly as described.

Rosemary’s spot was absolutely amazing! She warm and welcoming. There are some long term residents as well on the property who are also amazing. It was a tight fit getting our tear drop on but we did it as a team. Getting it out was easier once we had the knowledge. The resident puppers and our dogs played well together. There is a farm just across the street you can walk to for fresh produce. Easy access to so many trails. Overall, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend staying here.

Had a wonderful stay! The campsite was great! Rosemary was absolutely lovely and so sweet! The other guests and their furry friends were also incredibly friendly, would return again if I’m ever on the island! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a laid-back and welcoming getaway!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Fan Palm, and it was a fantastic experience! Andre and Rosemary were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.
The location of the campground is perfect, and easy to get to. The amenities provided were top-notch. Everything was clean and well-maintained, convenient access to water and electricity, everything was designed to make our stay hassle-free.
One of the highlights of our stay was the presence of adorable pups and the ability to bring our puppy! The hosts' friendly dog and a few other pups added an extra layer of charm to the campground. They were always around to greet us with wagging tails and playful antics, making our experience even more delightful.
Overall, Fan Palm is a hidden gem that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, excellent amenities, and wonderful hosts. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable camping experience.

We had the pleasure of staying 3 nights at this newer Hipcamp. The owners are super friendly and helped us maneuver to the ideal site for our 21ft Sprinter.
There are several sites available and we were pleasantly surprised they had full hookups (listing only mentioned potable water access ... they are in the process of updating it).
The nearby hens and a rooster made for entertaining company during our stay!
The sites are away from the road and we could only hear a tiny bit of traffic during the day. At night we could only hear nature.
There are 2 adorable dogs on site who love visitors. There were a few other campsite guests and we enjoyed swapping travel stories with them. The premises felt very safe and peaceful.
Make sure to check out the many farms nearly in Saanich, the farmers markets, and the amazing hiking trails in nearby parks with their mountain vistas and ocean inlets.
The only very slight item to be mindful of is that the turn to get through the entrance gate is a little bit tight. We made it just fine with careful mirror checks. I believe a 2nd access point may be available for longer RVs.

We had a great time on Andre’s land :). We car camped in my Forester, perfect little spot to spend the night near Butchart gardens! We were the only ones there, so had the place to ourselves, looks like there’s a few lovely sites. There’s a really cool goat and some chickens nearby. Lots of birds in the morning. Andre (and his dog) were great, very helpful, and kind. Thanks for the fun times!
