Weekend Trip to Raylia Cottage Farm Stay

What a perfect stay! Michele was a lovely host and the cabin was in such a beautiful, peaceful spot. I loved the vibe of the cabin, cosy with the option to make a fire (loved chopping wood), and lots of cosy dvds' and vhs's to watch on the couch. The cabin also had its own privacy (its far enough from the main house & has its own driveway) which was perfect for us. It's located in a super convenient spot too, probably the best part of the island to stay - right next to a few cute shops, coffee carts and a restaurant while still being tucked away in the woods. Also next to a lovely hike. Would highly recommend!!!

Weekend Trip to Forest Sanctuary Cabin

Stayed three nights for my partner's birthday long weekend! We had Christian's property all to ourselves for most of the stay, which definitely contributed to the zen vibes we were hoping for. It's nice to be able to spend so much time "doing nothing" without a sense of guilt, haha. We brought a bluetooth speaker, but only used it on a couple occasions (when cooking). The opportunity for silence and stillness can be a rare thing. The cabin is not fully finished but it has everything one could hope for. Bed and sofas are on wheels so a good chance for your closet interior decorator to shine. I recommend bringing headlamps or at least external batteries for your phone torch for convenience at night (we brought board games). The wood stove is easy to manage once you get the ropes, and Christian does a good job of teaching. We were toasty throughout our stay (evenings around 10C or so), but it doesn't hurt to bring extra for your sleep, when managing the fire might be harder. The kitchen is well equipped and we had a blast grilling up steaks. No issues with the outhouse. We didn't get enough sun for the solar showers but it's a neat setup. Overall a wonderful stay. Beautiful piece of property and it's clear how much care Christian has put into it- and continues to. Honestly hard to say how different our stay would be with others camping nearby, but the experience we got was very memorable.

The campgrounds were amazing!! the setting was beautiful and the directions were on point!! Everything listed was there: kitchen, kitchenware, running hot water for bathrooms, functional toilets in restrooms. Though the tent had a heater, it didn't do a great job, but thank goodness for blankets! (bring your own sleeping bag if you'd like extra comfort and warmth). was a perfect location for my hikes within Olympic; 30-45 mins to Hurricane Ridge and 15 mins from Storm King. I'd surely consider staying here once I plan my Pacific NW road trip!

What an amazing place! You can tell that the owners of this location put a lot of love and mindfulness into this place, from the amenities of well-furnished kitchens(!) and hot(!) showers, to the hand-carved and selected decorations hidden everywhere and multitudes of places to sit by yourself or hang out with others. Even with all of the pleasures of civilization, it still feels like you're truly camping inside the rainforest, which was exactly what I was hoping for. (And I spent more than a little time on the rope hammock platform, just soaking it all in!) Aside from the nearby roadway during the day, which isn't terrible and is less noticeable in the further campsites, it's incredibly peaceful and quiet, and that same road takes you to so many nearby sites for exploring and hiking that I can't find it in me to mind the mild noise! I'm so glad I stumbled across this place, and I greatly look forward to returning! I was in one of the "glamping" spots, #5, and very much appreciated the setup and available power, as well as the clever use of padding between tent and platform. It was perfectly cozy on the mild September nights - I brought an electric blanket just in case but didn't need it - and there was more than enough room and height to not struggle with space at all.

Madeline was a very responsive host and we enjoyed the guide book inside of the nearby area. Oh my god, what a lovely experience! As a LOTR nerd, I was delighted at the theme. :) The site was peaceful and quiet, the doggies were so friendly and welcoming, and every detail was thoughtfully designed. For me, this was capital G glamping. There was a very clean flushing toilet outhouse with all amenities you’d need, the shower was so amazing - think, steamy cedar, cool island air, fresh fluffy towels. The outdoor kitchen with organic coffee, spearmint tea, and yummy cookies in the morning was truly next level fancy shmancy. The tent was amazing: clean, cozy, and warm, beautifully designed in art nouveau fashion. We slept like logs! 100% worth it, and a great value! I sure hope to be back one day for longer!

Weekend Trip to sol duc rainforest retreat

I had a nice time at Sol Duc Retreat and got very lucky with temperate weather and even some sunshine. My stay was in the glamping tent site 5 and it included a full sized air mattress and a single person cot with pillows and blankets. The site was gorgeous and really felt like you are camping in the rainforest, but its pretty close to the highway so car traffic noise could always be heard. Finding the campsite was a breeze with the directions from the host. Sol Duc Retreat is a skip away from Lake Crescent and relatively close to so many hikes in Olympic so location was awesome. The amenities were just fine - the kitchen equipment seems to just be cleaned and maintained by the guests so it was a tad grimy. I would recommend bringing some of your own utensils and plates to eat with, but I felt fine using pots and pans because I could burn off any germs through cooking. The bathrooms also followed suit with the kitchens and felt unclean, but I was fine with that for a few nights! They were always properly stocked with toilet paper and hot water. Definitely bring shower shoes! The kitchen and bathrooms were not as clean as I had hoped but they were there and still super helpful to use. Overall, I would recommend staying at Sol Duc Retreat because it was a solid accommodation that allowed me to soak up every bit of Olympic!

Our stay at Valinore Glamping exceeded my expectations. Not that I had low expectations, but upon arrival at the property, both my partner and I were impressed by the craftsmanship of the cabin, the shared amenities, and the well-kept grounds in general. The property is in a nice central location perfect for exploring the mid Island, with lots to do nearby and the highway is right there for exploring further afield. The cabin is comfortable and well-equipped, with cooking supplies, coffee/tea, an A/C unit, heater, a propane fire pit, and even laundry. The common area has a nice clean shower and toilet, as well as additional cooking supplies. During our stay we were thrilled to be warm and dry in the cabin while an incredible electrical storm thundered overhead and dumped buckets of rain. We sat under the overhang and enjoyed the propane fire pit as the sky exploded — it was pretty awesome. Nearby Parksville/Qualicum/Coombs offer lots to do, I’d recommend checking out the new brewery/restaurant Fern & Cedar, swimming at Englishman River Falls Provincial Park, and mountain biking at Hammerfest riding area. I’d certainly stay at Valinore Glamping again.

In a cedar grove, nestled among the ferns, a lotus belle tent awaits you. A unique bed and breakfast in an off-grid tent. Inside the belle tent there is a comfortable double bed with clean sheets, plump pillows, and a warm Pendelton blanket. A 'west coast homestead basket' with granola, fruit ,and farm eggs is provided for a nutritious breakfast. A Berkey water filter provides delicious water from our mountain well. Inside the tent, a comfortable chair looks out over the mossy forest toward the creek. There is room to stretch, and a couple of yoga mats to use. A stretch is especially nice after exploring the nearby trails through Mount Maxwell forest. The trails take through a varied and fascinating forest. Along the way are mossy knolls with vistas of the valley, ocean, and Vancouver Island. One trail leads all the way to Burgyone Bay. The belle is an off-grid seasonal tent with electric candles for lighting and a composting toilet. At night there are solar string lights--should you want them--which illuminate the path to the tent. The Gertie Bus is located a 5 min walk to a beautiful white sand beach (at low tide). There are walking trails all around and lots of beach access. Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need. The bus has a gas stovetop/oven, bar fridge and sink with grey water system. Equipped kitchen and sofa area to hang out. The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away. There is beach access across the street through a private park with picnic tables, a very old eagles nest and a private access to a rocky beach perfect for sunsets. The home itself has a pottery studio on the main floor with a full time studio Practice. Give Paige a ring if you’d like a tour, she’s usually working away. Our family lives on the top floor. Outside the bus is are lush veggie gardens, fruit trees and a nice private outdoor dining area. A BBQ and solar lights also help with evening hangouts. Family friendly! Also we love animals but we ask that you clean up after your pet and keep any animals that aren’t so great with kids and other animals on leash. We have a dachshund on the property that is friendly and old ( barks at strangers but is all bark I assure you, he just wants to be friends)

Enjoy the sounds of nature on forested acreage in Roberts Creek. Unwind with the abundant wildlife and the sounds of creeks in the forest. Stay in our thoughtfully furnished renovated private camper on a secluded grassy meadow with ponds and a towering cedar forest on six acres. This is a rural property in a small horse ranch community. In the spring to fall, you will likely come across owls in the trees, frogs, crayfish, ducks and a turtle in the creeks and ponds, deer, coyotes, cougars, and bears, who will walk through the land on a daily basis. Please be aware, keep your distance from all wildlife and use your bear smarts. This really is a wonderful coastal experience with a balance of comfort and rural. 15 mins from the Ferry, close to Gibsons boasting cideries, breweries, restaurants, art galleries, and shops. This is a rural property with extensive wildlife. Please expect to come across bears, deer, and coyotes with the occasional cougar sighting. Please keep your space clean and make your presence known.
