We have cows, goats, chickens, horses and dogs on the property that generally love people. :) I have only one dog and typically allow dogs to run off leash. We do have to be careful that it doesn't turn to a dog gang as this happened once and they took down one of my goats. The goats Hon and Chewy are okay but it took months for poor Hon to heal. I also worry about the chickens so please keep and eye on your dogs! Lots of treed areas for private camping, horseback riding hiking and walking! Bird watching is big around here as we are on a bird migratory path. We are just above Winchell Lake and less than 10 km from Water Valley Golf Course and Saloon. Please recognize that you are visiting a Ranch not a campsite. We are sharing our piece of heaven with you and you are helping to support our animals and their heaven. Chickens are "True" Free Range and hand fed every morning. Eggs are $10 a dozen to pay for their feed. :) Every spring the rain tends to cause ruts and washes out some of the road on the way to the back forty where the meadow is. We gather rocks on the property to fill the ditches but the early part of the year the roads can be bumpy. Please ask the conditions of the road when you book if you have concerns. Thanks!

Since then, we’ve made many changes out there, we now have a guest cabin that used to be a Teacheridge (back when teachers would live in a one room building beside the school), eventually it was turned into a cafe and now it sits on our land as a guest cabin. Nestled on the south slope of a hill, our property boasts breathtaking views of Woodlands County. We're fortunate to offer 40 acres of working farmland and 80 acres of forest for you to explore. The forest is crisscrossed by several creeks, with underground springs occasionally bubbling to the surface. You'll have plenty of opportunities to forage for wild raspberries, bunchberries, and other nature's delicacies. Keep your eyes and ears open to catch glimpses of the area's diverse wildlife, including deer, grouse, owls, moose, and more. Surrounding the property are working farms, adding to the authentic rural ambiance. You might hear cows grazing in the morning and evening, or farm dogs barking from a distance, but we believe that's part of the charm of the area. Learn more about this land: Our humble campsite includes a private area on our small property at the foot of the mountains. We have one large fire pit, a large table for gatherings, and an outhouse. We also have fresh spring water and first aid supplies available if needed. We are family-friendly and pet-friendly! We are only 30 minutes from Waterton Lakes National Park. The park is internationally known as one of the most beautiful destinations in the Canadian Rockies. And for good reason. Waterton is where the rolling prairies of Alberta meet the stunning Rocky Mountains and is filled with diverse wildlife, dozens of different wildflowers and some of the best hiking in North America. The town of Waterton Lakes National Park is the perfect destination if you're looking for adventure, fun and relaxation no matter what season it may be. Staying in Poppy was a very pleasant experience! We arrived late, in the dark. We were struggling to find our spot (albeit, I did not look at the instructions carefully). Pat came to find us at the entrance, and helped escort us to our stay. They also provided some extra water (due to the water line being shut off because of cold temps) a heater and some heating bottles to keep us warm. The location is very beautiful, with some cool amenities available throughout the grounds. All in all, Geri & Pat are very welcoming, thoughtful and we would love to rent out the whole grounds in the future! Thanks again!

Loved poppy bus, had a great experience living in here as it is my dream to eventually do this. Enjoyed how there was so many hiking trails everywhere. We spent an hour or more looking and exploring. The whole place here is so much to take in. I especially loved interacting with the friendly horses. I plan to bring my extended family next spring.

It was my first time camping and it will be my most memorable stay Corey is a great host, she posted all the instructions on how to arrive at the site in advance. There are 4 sites but when we arrived there were no other campers which made our trip more adventurous We stayed at site #1, the bed is comfy and the view early morning is breathtaking Please take the woods bundle pack from Corey. It will be cheaper for you and you can use as much as you can

This was my second time camping here and I think it’s officially my favourite campground. :) Geri and Pat are so welcoming, plus the sites are private with beautiful surroundings. This morning I saw the horses coming through the property too which was a huge bonus! With the Bowden Sunmaze close by, not to mention that this site comes with a bundle of firewood and water, I can’t recommend this place enough. With winter coming soon I hope to plan a weekend in the treehouse or other buildings soon!
