Quiet, majestic back to nature spot! This is a place to get away from a busy life. With close proximity to Winchell Lake, this land is ideal for fishing, hiking or simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery. We have 4 campsites available for tent or RV/trailer campers. If you're bringing an RV, we have two power outlets and water available. You will be parking on a field and the site requires levelling. We have cows, goats, chickens, horses and dogs on the property that generally love people. :) I have only one dog and typically allow dogs to run off leash. We do have to be careful that it doesn't turn to a dog gang as this happened once and they took down one of my goats. The goats Hon and Chewy are okay but it took months for poor Hon to heal. I also worry about the chickens so please keep and eye on your dogs! Lots of treed areas for private camping, horseback riding hiking and walking! Bird watching is big around here as we are on a bird migratory path. We are just above Winchell Lake and less than 10 km from Water Valley Golf Course and Saloon. Please recognize that you are visiting a Ranch not a campsite. We are sharing our piece of heaven with you and you are helping to support our animals and their heaven. Chickens are "True" Free Range and hand fed every morning. Eggs are $10 a dozen to pay for their feed. :) Every spring the rain tends to cause ruts and washes out some of the road on the way to the back forty where the meadow is. We gather rocks on the property to fill the ditches but the early part of the year the roads can be bumpy. Please ask the conditions of the road when you book if you have concerns. Thanks!

Potable water is available, directions to it will be made available after checking in. Also, if any of the sites, garabge bin or outhouse needs attention, PLEASE let me know. I ask that you don't leave bags of garbage on the ground after checking out since birds, dogs, or bears will take that as an ivite to make a mess looking for a snack. I do have a full time job that prevents me from being around 100% of the time, so with your help, we can ensure a clean and safe campground for everyone to enjoy. There is a metal dumpster at the end of the road that can be used if needed. Points of interest nearby include: Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park, Devonshire Beach. 5-10 minutes away. You can't say you've been to Slave Lake with out saying you've been to Devonshire. Endless amounts of clean white "squeaky" sand and shallow waters perfect for summer beach days. You will never find a rock on the beach or in the water. The southern end of the park consists of sand ridges and blowout dunes, behind which are a series of marshes and wetlands. Marten Mountain View Point (Lily Lake Trail). 15 minutes away. By far the best view of the lake that you will ever get! At 1020 meters, Marten Mountain is the highest point of land for hundreds of square kilometers. From the Marten Mountain Viewpoint, you can take in a truly breathtaking view of Lesser Slave Lake and its forested slopes. The view point is also the trail head to get to Lily Lake, a medium difficulty 4 km round trip. The cozy lake is stocked with trout and is an excellent afternoon adventure. Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation. 5 minutes away. It is one of Canada's northernmost bird observatories and is one of the only boreal forest bird observatories in the world. Nice walking trails and a great information center with stunning architecture. Gilwood Golf Course. 2 minutes away. Neighboring the property is an 18 hole golf course with a clubhouse and restaurant. Activities nearby include fishing, hiking, wildlife watching, swimming, and so much more! Pets are welcome, campfires are permitted.

Escape from the city for a night of stargazing, warm up by a wood stove, daydream in a hammock or simply unwind in nature, this is a soul-soothing getaway that brings you back to what matters. The Experience Adult-Only Cabin (Sleeps 2): Thoughtfully designed for couples or solo travelers seeking solitude. Clean linens, cozy blankets, and a wood stove for warmth - this is next-level glamping with a frontier twist. Dish-Free Stay: Dishes provided, but you don’t have to wash a thing. Simply leave them in the sealed bin - we handle the rest. No Power, No Problem: Candlelight, lantern, and a beautifully stocked cabin set the tone for an authentic, pioneer-style stay. Private and Peaceful: The entire site is yours, no sharing. Onsite Amenities Firewood Stove: Wood for the indoor stove is INCLUDED from Oct. 15–May 15. From May 15–Oct. 15, your first bundle is on us. Outdoor Fire Pit: Large firewood bundles available for $15 each. Enjoy fireside stargazing beneath some of the clearest skies around (check Parkland County for fire bans). Optional Add-ons: Propane for the BBQ, picnic baskets, and fresh farm-to-table organics available by request. Comfort Touches: Slippers and socks encouraged - no shoes in the cabin. Good to Know Max 2 adults in the cabin. Additional guests welcome to pitch a tent or park an RV on-site (pls add on for extra guests, 6 guests max per site) Private outhouse, pergola, and outdoor seating area included. Caretakers nearby if you need anything during your stay. Gravel driveway and parking pad - easy to access, one step up to cabin. A Stargazer’s Paradise Known for its crystal-clear skies and low light pollution, our homestead is a magnet for meteor showers and northern lights chasers. The added touches to this stay made it a perfect romantic weekend getaway. The old woodfire place that was perfect to cook in, the decorative wall hangings, the added extra coffees and hot chocolates, all the plates and silverware you will need. The outdoor fire pit, the picnic table underneath decorative lights. It was a magical weekend for two adults and a pup. Only a short drive outside of Edmonton and easy to find. ( 1 hour ) Highly recommend and look forward to going back.

1 night at Elk Island Getaway

Beautiful, serene, quiet, very well maintained. We could see every star in the sky, and it is so close to Elk Island Park, it made sightseeing easy! A lot of coyotes at night - mind your pets and bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper - that was the only sound we heard. Would highly recommend this spot.

Weekend Trip to Collinswood Retreat

Staying in Poppy was a very pleasant experience! We arrived late, in the dark. We were struggling to find our spot (albeit, I did not look at the instructions carefully). Pat came to find us at the entrance, and helped escort us to our stay. They also provided some extra water (due to the water line being shut off because of cold temps) a heater and some heating bottles to keep us warm. The location is very beautiful, with some cool amenities available throughout the grounds. All in all, Geri & Pat are very welcoming, thoughtful and we would love to rent out the whole grounds in the future! Thanks again!

We had an amazing stay at this campsite! The area is very private and surrounded by beautiful fall colors, it honestly feels like your own little getaway in nature. The place was clean, quiet, and relaxing, perfect for a peaceful weekend escape. The owners are wonderful people! They are responsive, and easy to communicate with. They made sure everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out, and we really appreciated how organized and welcoming they were. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a cozy, private, and scenic spot to unwind!

Loved poppy bus, had a great experience living in here as it is my dream to eventually do this. Enjoyed how there was so many hiking trails everywhere. We spent an hour or more looking and exploring. The whole place here is so much to take in. I especially loved interacting with the friendly horses. I plan to bring my extended family next spring.

Great Site and hosts! With only being a short drive from Edmonton, this is a hidden gem. Kara and Dan are quick to respond to inquiries and requests. The grounds are clean, well maintained, and vibrant. The water feature is aerated so the is no stagnant water smell. The wood totes are of a good size for the cost and come with some kindling. The wood was cut into good size pieces and dry! The farm fresh eggs were some of the best eggs I've had in a while with large yolks. The campsites are well spaced out with some co-located for groups. There is obvious signs of improvement and tree planting which speaks to Kara and Dan's dedication to being great hosts. I camped with a large group and a dog which needed 2 sites. Kara and Dan made great suggestions which improved our experience. I look forward to booking next season. Thank you, Kara and Dan!!!!

We really enjoyed camping here for our friends 30th! The bus was really awesome and a great theme for a little weekend getaway. The property is fun to explore with many nice little trails to walk down, and the view of the stars at night was fantastic on a clear night. Thanks Pat & Geri for a great weekend!
