Heritage listed homestead featuring children’s art and literature. Currently featuring a beautiful exhibition by award winning Australian authors/illustrators Mark Wilson, Leigh Hobbs, Ann James & Gabrielle Wang. Nestled in the Macedon ranges in the tiny hamlet of Riddell’s Creek, Dromkeen is 30 minutes drive from Melbourne Airport. This stately National Trust home has beautiful gardens with a range of Australian native and European plants, a gazebo and two resident alpacas. We have space in the large carpark for vans, motorhomes, or alternatively the horse paddock for tents and campers. Ample toilets available. Dogs permitted by advance request. Guests are welcome to visit the Tea Room, open 10am – 5pm Wednesday through Sunday. Our daily menu contains a selection of delicious cakes, devonshire tea, toasted sandwiches, specialty pies and weekly specials and of course, tea and coffee. Breakfast is served all day. Browse in the galleries or wander around the beautiful gardens which have trees more than 100 years old, some listed on the National Trust register. Meet our 2 Dromkeen alpacas Hannah and Lilly. ***Please note, we are a rubbish free campsite, so campers are asked to take their rubbish with them. Dromkeen has very clean toilets, but a reminder there are NO showers. Also all sites are unpowered, but upon request prior to arrival a powered spot may be available at an extra $10 a day. Please ring to verify this. During summer months because of fire restrictions we also remind campers there should be NO outside campfires. ****Also please note, each van or tent is considered a separate booking site and each site is considered a space for 2 adults and up to 4 children. Where there are 2 couples, they are required to make 2 separate bookings.

A stand-out Hipcamp!
This is truly a great Hipcamp for location, price and facilities. The proximity to the Airport, Trains, shopping options and tourist routes is just so convenient and hard to find at this level so close to Melbourne. We chose to pay extra to have power connected as we wanted Aircon during warmer weather, and Bernadette couldn't have been more accommodating. We ran out of time to try the café, but from what we saw at check-in, everything on offer looked delicious. The site areas are grassed, well spaced and all have views, and should suit all set-ups, with just a bit of levelling. Potable water was available to fill from, it was Pet-friendly on-leash, and there were lovely clean toilets. 5 stars from us and hope to return to try the scones!

Lovely and peaceful
Lovely and peaceful place to camp and Bernadette was so accomodating. Loved that there was a toilet block nearby and that we could have breakfast/lunch in the Gallery cafe. So convenient we could bring our doggo with us and even got to watch a nice sunset!

Serene Paddock Escape
Lovely quiet site with gorgeous views over the paddocks and neighbouring cows! We went during a long weekend and even with a handful of other camper groups there was still plenty of space to make it feel like a private get-away. Also highly recommend lunch at the cafe/gallery on site - we’ll be back for the cakes!

Garden View Site
Expensive given facilties on offer
Host was lovely. Facilities limited to toilets & power (extra $10 per night.). Nice views over paddocks with herd of kangaroos in next paddock often. A tad on the expensive side overall. Hipcamp collecting $14 as a booking fee for each and every night of a stay booked through them is a bit much IMHO.

Camping without the crowds
Beautiful quiet spot. Very pretty scenery. Toilet available 24/7 If you are self contained it's perfect. Would only be a problem if you don't have battery power and water! We enjoyed our stay. Handy to Riddell so try it out guys. Good food in the pub. Mt Macedon the next day. Easy parking. Give it a try!

I recently returned to Bernadette’s campsite for the second time, and once again, it was a wonderful experience. The view from the site is absolutely stunning—every morning, waking up to such natural beauty is a real treat. Bernadette is as warm and welcoming as ever, always going above and beyond to make sure her guests have a memorable stay. The campsite itself is peaceful, well-maintained, and the perfect escape from everyday life. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
