The Murrays of Trilby Station have called the banks of the Darling River home for 7 generations now, grazing merino sheep since 1860. An authentic family run property offering guests a unique outback experience and a glimpse into their way of life not often accessible to outsiders – all with the comforts of home. We offer secluded river and billabong campsites through HipCamp and fully renovated Stockman's Cottages and the Shearer's Bunkhouse through our own website. Our campsites all feature a firepit and wood to get you started ( then you gather more in as required or bring some with you), rubbish and recycle bins and a long drop loo nearby. Bathroom/laundry and camp kitchen are a short drive away from the camps. While their accommodation is great, the experience of Trilby Station is what people really love and talk about ..the scenic river, the private waterfront campsites complete with firewood, the self-guided Mud Map drives around the station, Liz’s wholesome country style meals, the cosy cabins, catching yabbies and fish, the birdlife & wildlife and Liz!! Yep – me ... fancy that!

We offer secluded Darling River campsites on our 320,000 acre sheep and goat property. Each campsite has a firepit and wood to get you started, (You can then gather more as required), rubbish and recycle bins and a long drop loo nearby. It's a short drive to hot showers, flush toilets, washing machines and camp kitchen - as the river campsites go under water in a flood. Some sites are only large enough for one couple/family/caravan/camper trailer and some are big enough for groups travelling together, so we definitely need to know how many in your group, the number of vehicles and if you're towing a camper trailer, caravan, motorhome or just a tent/swag. The family price of $40 per night is for one family, so Mum, Dad and small kids.  If there is more than one family the balance is payable on arrival at Trilby Station. It is imperative that we are informed if you are a group so that we an allocate a campsite large enough. If you're staying two nights then you can explore the station with detailed trip notes on our Mud Map drives.

Our river campsites are situated on the banks of the Darling River with firepit and wood to get you started (then you gather more in from around camp yourself or bring some with you), rubbish and recycle bins and a long drop loo nearby. It's a short drive to bathroom, laundry and camp kitchen facilities. Checkin is from 12 noon and checkout by 10am, and your camp fee includes use of our canoes/kayaks, swimming pool, yabby nets, self drive MudMap tours. Note the Mud Map tours are only for guests staying two nights due to the time taken to explore.

Our Billabong campsite for couples is right on the bank of the water with beautiful sunset or sunrise views over the water, depending on which campsite we allocate for you. It has a firepit, wood to start you (then you gather your own in from around camp or bring some with you), rubbish and recycle bins ( we recycle for the RFDS) and a long drop loo nearby. It's a short drive to bathroom and laundry facilities plus our Camp Kitchen. This site is suitable for a tent, camper trailer or caravan.

The nightly tariff is for one couple or a single travelling solo. If you are booking for more than one couple please make a separate booking and note that you are travelling with others so we can put you together on a large site OK. Some sites are only large enough for one couple/family/caravan/camper trailer and some are big enough for groups travelling together, so we definitely need to know how many in your group, the number of vehicles and if you're towing a camper trailer, caravan, motorhome or just a tent/swag. The billabong is 6km in circumference, and we have 9 campsites scattered around the perimeter. Each is situated right on the waters edge with a campfire pit and wood to start you (then you gather more in from around camp as needed), rubbish and recycle bins and a long drop loo nearby. It's a short drive to bathroom, laundry and camp kitchen facilities. Your campsite fee includes use of our canoes, yabby nets, the pool and station self guided drives.

Trilby Station River Camp with kids
Liz hats off to you and your team. Absolutely brilliant love the campsite. The amenities were absolutely spotless. Showers had hot water and the surroundings were just stunning. Thank you for having us Sam and Sam.

Excellent setup, huge sites. Lovely welcome with startup fire pit and information pack. Unfortunately we only stayed one night which we regret so we will be definately coming back for a longer stay.

We had a great stay with nothing to improve. Site was great easy to get fire wood and have a greay campfire. The drive around their property was also really great.

Camping anywhere along the Darling River is amazing. Staying at Trilby Station takes it to another level. Liz is very welcoming and generous. The campsites are large and well dispersed along the river. We highly recommend Trilby Station to anyone venturing into the outback.

Beautifully maintained campsite and amenities. I stopped in here for 1 night on a road trip and my only regret was I didn’t stay longer. Liz was also very helpful. Also don’t follow google maps to get here or you might get bogged! Cheers Liz!

Liz, thank you for being so generous with all that you’ve built. I’m in awe, I’ve no idea how you keep everything so tip top and clean. Honestly, the most thoughtful camp we’ve ever stayed. So beautiful, so private and shout out to the sun, the stars, the pizza oven and the animals for putting on a show. Can’t wait to be back and camp along the billabong.

We originally had dates booked but due to unforeseen rain the roads were closed. Liz was fantastic with communicating and was very accomodating. We unfortunately did not get to stay this trip but along with the wonderful reviews we have viewed and our experience we definitely will be putting this on our to do list! Thank you Liz.

Absolutely loved Trilby Stn. The sites are great, well spaced on the river banks or the billabong. Heaps of beautiful birds to watch catching fish and floating by. The history around the station and the surrounding area is very interesting. Liz was a great host. We are definitely going back.

Billabong Campsite - one couple.
We loved our stay at Trilby. We only stayed one night but wished we could’ve stayed longer. We stayed by the billabong, the site was private, quiet and beautiful. The facilities had hot showers and toilets with everything being very clean. Liz was was a great host, would definitely recommend.

Billabong Campsite for a family
Liz has set up an amazing experience, well worth the drive and dust! We had the Billabong site right at the end of her camp-site, it was private, gave us the starry sky and camp-fire we wanted on new years eve and a long drop to boot - a very welcome surprise. Close to the homestead are showers, toilets, laundry and a very well equipped camp kitchen and a pool! We did the self drive tour of the station and visited the historical sites, my older teenagers had a great time and our son who is on his Ls got to drive us and loved it. Could have stayed for a week it was so great. Lots of kangaroos, emus, and we saw a band of wild little piggies (no mum or dad in sight). A great way for our family to witness outback life on a station now and back to the 1960's. Liz is a great host and her family history and station operations are also openly shared to enhance your experience, she has the friendliest cat on the planet and was also babysitting Frankie the smiley staffy.

Billabong campsite for a family.
We’ve just finished a three day stay at Trilby Station and are struggling to find the right words to best describe our stay. While the new years period is the ‘off season’ for Liz and her team, we felt very well looked after. Our private campsite by the billabong (‘Merle’) was perfect for our family and there was plenty of room to set up and enjoy the bird life, swimming, star gazing and solitude. The mud map tour was fascinating and provided us with a privileged and unique insight into the history of the station. Our two young kids have filled their travel journals as a consequence! We could not speak highly enough of our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Trilby Station is amazing - we had a great campsite by the Darling River, with firewood ready for us. Very private and great amenities. Loved reading about the area's history, and seeing a working station. Liz was extremely helpful and a fantastic host. Would've liked to stay longer.

We loved camping at the billabong camp-site 1. The scenery was amazing and perfect position to watch sunsets. Our kids loved using the canoes and watching the fish jump. The showers and amenities were nice and clean. We enjoyed the mud map self drive tour of the farm soaked in history. We definitely will come back to stay!!

Trilby Station is a fantastic stay. Mid August. We stayed 2 nights on the billabong side which was amazing. Sunset over the billabong is spectacular. Canoeing the billabong is beautiful. Do it mid afternoon for sunset paddle. We also did the mud map that Liz provides for a self tour of part of the property and old farm ruins. It is well set out and documented. Highlight of our stay. They do have a shower and toilet facilities in the main area including washing machines. We can’t review as we didn’t use them as self sufficient Liz is a great host, the property is amazing and we really hope to be back again. Thank you.

The whole experience was fantastic, a beautiful stay by the billabong (literally under the shade of a coolabah tree), wild Warragul spinach and native sorrel steamed with butter, why bring supermarket greens? Exceptionally clean amenities, very friendly staff. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. Thanks Liz.

Liz is an amazing host, despite running a huge sheep station has lots of time for her guests. The facilities were amazingly clean down right down to the drop toilets (with a view) and we were unprepared for camping in the cold and she lent us blankets. Camp kitchen was awesome. Yabbies in the billabong at present. The info booklet is unmatched in detail and we really enjoyed the self guided tour and the secluded campsite. We will go again soon for sure.

Heaps of room around each camping area. Great facilities and very clean. Friendly staff. Everyone staying at the station were friendly and mindful of others in the area. We will be back and stay longer. Our 3 dogs even enjoyed the holiday.
