Overview

About

Immerse yourself in the tranquil splendor of Yarrahapinni Wetlands National Park, a haven for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers alike. Traverse the lush landscapes, observe the rich biodiversity, and revel in the peaceful atmosphere of this protected area. Whether you're seeking a leisurely stroll or an educational journey, the park offers a myriad of activities to connect you with the natural world.

When to go

The best time to visit Yarrahapinni Wetlands National Park is during the cooler, drier months from April to September. Wildlife is abundant and the weather is more conducive for exploring. The wet season, from October to March, can be challenging with heavy rains and potential flooding, making some areas of the park less accessible.

Know before you go

  • Check the latest park alerts and weather conditions before planning your visit to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Remember to bring insect repellent and sun protection, as the wetlands can be a haven for mosquitoes and the sun can be intense.
  • Wear appropriate footwear for walking on potentially wet and muddy trails.
  • Be mindful of the park's wildlife; observe from a distance and do not feed the animals.
  • For any inquiries or assistance, contact the Kempsey office during contact hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 4:30pm.
