Tips for Snagging a Campsite Reservation
- Advance bookings are essential, and you will need to pay the full amount before arrival. Campsites have a minimum nightly rate, and minimal stays may apply in peak season.
- Space is limited at some Crowdy Bay campgrounds, so book at least three months in advance for peak periods such as summer, school holidays, and bank holiday weekends.
When to Go
With its subtropical climate, Crowdy Bay is a year-round spot for swimming and outdoor activities. Summer temperatures can climb over 30°C, so come prepared, especially if you plan to hike—an early start is recommended. Wildflowers blanket the landscapes in spring, while the late-blooming Christmas Bells are most vibrant around the holiday season. May to November is the time to spot humpback whales on their annual migration.

Camp between the bush and the beach in this coastal national park.
Crowdy Bay National Park has the best of both worlds. Along the coast, swim and surf at the sandy beaches, or hike along the rocky headland of Diamond Head for ocean views. Wildlife-watching opportunities are plentiful, too—spot koalas and bowerbirds in the trees, look out for dolphins and migrating whales along the shore, and see kangaroos hopping through the bush.
