Weekend Trip to Lakeside or Orchard Paddock Camping

We loved camping on Nik’s property near the lake. The property is beautifully maintained, with lovely gardens, chickens and sheep. We enjoyed a camp fire each night, toasting marshmallows which Nik kindly offered us. We liked having access to a flushing toilet and a laundry sink, a short walk from the campsite (with the path between well lit at nighttime). We were the only tent by the lake, and there were a couple of caravaners in a back paddock (which we could see but not hear). The property is located a short drive from the Pig and Whistle pub (with a great beer garden), and a short drive from Trentham town centre with a well stocked grocer. Would highly recommend Nik’s property.

Weekend Trip to YELLOW FLATS

Yellow Flats was a great place to stay. My family and I loved our time there and wished we could longer. The location is great, close proximity to surrounding attractions but remote enough to feel in the middle of nowhere. John was great. He met us on site and gave us the rundown, kept in touch during our stay but was happy to leave us to enjoy the privacy and space we had all to ourselves. Would definitely go back!

Had a fantastic time camping at silver creek escape the site is well maintained and the fire pit is the PERFECT size. We had a group of 7 people staying with a caravan, a car tent, and a standard tent all of which fit beautifully will 100% be booking again

3 nights at Sunset Stargazing Private Camp

Lovely, peaceful spot with good view. Site felt clean, spacious and private, and had plenty shade for our tent and swag. We enjoyed our three nights here, my son liked riding his bike around the field and climbing trees. The birdwatching was unexpectedly good thanks to the huge old tree in the middle of the site. I saw a new bird. Vaughan was friendly, helpful and thoughtful, even with a last minute request. I do recommend.

Great space, could use more signage. We arrived in the dark so perhaps missed some but we couldn’t find the toilet during the day. Would recommend for a serene, quiet space, with access to a fire.

Absolutely loved staying here thank you so much Chrissy. The dogs are amazing and well behaved dogs if you don’t have dogs or don’t like them don’t stay because they just want pats and to keep guard. It’s super close to town if you get a chance stop into eagle hawk bakery the old one any pie from there is amazing.

Weekend Trip to Magic Mountain

We stayed with a toddler and a dog, and had a great time. The site was well organised and the A frame was clean and cosy. Our toddler loved reading books in the beanbag under the loft bed. A gas bbq and a wood fired pizza oven made life easy and we loved watching the sun set together from the giant hammock. The speed bumps going up the driveway are pretty intense, as previously noted. We have an Outback and still struggled on some of them. I'd recommend taking them on an angle at the edges, where the gradient isn't so steep. The way down is much easier. Overall, we loved it. An easy getaway from the city with a great view.

2 nights at Castella River Farm

We really enjoyed our time at Castella River Farm. Carly was very helpful in providing all necessary information on where to go and how to get to our spot in the River Camp and providing an unobtrusive, comfortable stay. The kids particularly enjoyed being close to the river and were lucky enough to spot a platypus in the wild. Being able to feed the horses in their space was great too. The property was lovely and easily accessible with a clean and well set up camp site in the middle of nature. I had an extremely relaxing time, especially with the added security of not being completely alone in the wild with myself and two kids in tow. So much so that I took the kids home and came back for a night on my own. Thank you for sharing your space with us.

Weekend Trip to Fowkes Family Flower Farm

The views from Fowkes farm were lovely and it was so peaceful. Tamara wasn't there but her mum Debbie and husband Dan were very helpful. The compost toilet was clean and smell-free.

Beautiful spot. Alive with wildlife. Could hear some local traffic and lots of planes, but that was not a deterrent. Great star gazing, lucky enough to see the ISS. Cozy space. Would definitely come back.

We loved our stay at Mountain Ash Camp. There's a small path that leads to a charming little stream, adding to the peaceful atmosphere. The site was clean and well-maintained. We stayed for one night, and it was just the change of scenery we needed.

It was a delightful experience. My son loved to run around the little hill and play at the playground. Feeding sheep was an extra fun for him. The owner Tamara was responsive and sweet as well. I would love to come back here with our dog and some sandpit toys next time.

Peaceful spot in the valley with sugar gliders and waves of native birdlife coming through. Had a great time in this rustic spot. Loads of available firewood and I was amazed at the complete lack of flies and mozzies, so close to the big dam. Little doggo had a ball. Brilliant!!!

Fowkes Family Flower Farm

Our farm is only a minutes' drive from the township of Kinglake. Or a 20-minute easy walk to shops and cafes. We are close to all the Yarra Valley and Kinglake Ranges have to offer from wineries to the National Parks for hiking, biking and 4WD driving. Fowkes family farm is a small, hobby, flower farm. Opening during Protea season for pick your own flowers and sheep feeding. Made up of 15 acres of working land and 35 acres of bush land. We have a 2-acre orchard with seasonal fruit available to be picked. ( Feb - April) The farm has over 100 king protea bushes and many other varieties of protea. Seasonal pick your own flowers too. ( Aug - Jan) Backing onto the national park and walking tracks. Jehoshaphat Gully, Shelley Harris Track, Mt Jerusalem Track. Walking distance to Kinglake historic walk, Cookson Hill Track, Mt Everard Track, Bollygum Park. Visit Mason Falls Waterfall, 12-minute drive to Kinglake West. We have 2 dogs, 6 pet sheep and 4 lambs, 2 blue tongue lizards The farming area is completely fenced in, this is to keep the deer out, but you can venture out onto the property bush land with the correct map and navigation equipment. Our walk the neighboring farm (105 acres) Eagles, cockatoos, black cockatoos, kookaburras, magpies, rosellas, king parrots, Gang-gang cockatoo, honey eaters can be spotted most days and lyrebirds if you’re keen to go looking. Small playground with swings, slide, monkey bars and sandpit. Taxi service - The Graceful-Goat to get you around to the local eats and wineries. The Kinglake market is on the 4th Sunday of each month 10-2pm except December which is the Sunday before Christmas - twilight 2-7pm No market in January. The St. Andrews market is every Saturday, 9am to 1pm just 12 minutes down the mountain. Whittlesea market is on every Monday 9am - 1pm We manage 2 sites on our farm & 2 sites on the neighboring farm

Magic Mountain

Nestled amongst the mountains just outside of the township of Whittlesea our 40-acre property sits above the clouds. This experience comes with sweeping views, a hidden waterfall, a clear campground, and plenty of wildlife. The camping area is accessible by 4WD only, otherwise, strap on a backpack and earn it! (800m walk/hike from where a non-4WD can park). The waterfall is reached by a single trail track from the campsite, and you do need to be an experienced hiker to get to the waterfall. Which is part of the appeal! We welcome self-contained campers, who bring their own toilet and take all waste with them. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy. Or choose to stay in our beautiful A-frame cabin, with plush bedding, cozy fire, and outdoor lounge. More than anything else this is a place to relax and be away from normal, live outside yourself, and rediscover what weekends are for. Dogs are welcome, so long as they don't bother the wildlife. Campfires are allowed, BYO firewood or campers can collect fallen timber from the property.

The Whip Stick Forest campsite is located on the outskirts of Bendigo. This is an ideal place to take a break away from it all. Peace and tranquility surrounded by nature. We are just far enough away from the town to offer the outdoors feel and close enough to town to enjoy sightseeing, and many outdoor activities and access to shops, fuel and most of the usual shopping needs. Here you will find a nice open space amongst the gum trees with drinking water, toilet, and outdoor shower. rubbish/recycling bins and access to wifi if needed. Relax under the stars with a warm fire in a secluded spot in the middle of open space and the fresh air. The property is fenced off, so you can feel safe and secure. You can relax and let the kids can run around knowing they are safe inside the camp ground. There are five dogs who live here. They are all friendly and love people. Especially Daz who will be your best friend while you stay here. If you don't like dogs you probably shouldn't stay here as Daz loves people. Only minutes from town where you will find supplies, close to the local swimming pool and 10 minutes from a popular watering hole. Enjoy all that Bendigo and surrounding areas have to offer, check out the historic gold mining attractions and come home to rest in a tranquil setting amongst the trees, the birds and the stars. Bendigo itself features some fantastic heritage architecture and a creative community. Be sure to check out coffee houses down little laneways and the many culinary options of the restaurants in town.

Castella River Farm is an 8 acre property with many natural features including Mountain Ash trees and bushland near the camp sites. The Yea river runs behind the property and camping areas. Locally we are close to all the Yarra Valley and Kinglake Ranges have to offer from wineries to the National Parks for hiking. We are 10 minutes from Kinglake township and 15 mins to Yarra Glen, which means a quick trip if you need supplies. The highway is close by which makes it handy to get out and about. Wildlife we have seen on the property includes Wallabies, Echidna, and an abundance of bird life. Laugh with the Kookaburras at sunset. Dogs are welcome however due to wildlife and the bush location, we ask that you please keep them on a lead at all times. If you are planning on bringing a dog with you, please let us know in advance. We also have horses (separate from the campsite) that campers can feed a carrot if they wish! Water is available from our stables water tank. It is Tank water so not crystal clear but think of it as euculyptus tea! NB: **We do have neighbours and the highway near by so there will be some noise . Would suit campers who want to kick the footy, wade in the river and maybe go 4wding or out and about fishing. Ok to play your own music near the camp fire as you are far enough away down the back paddock! **Not suited to those wanting to be in the middle of nowhere

We are family and dog friendly, with the space for multiple families to camp together on sites 1, 2 and 4. THIS PROPERTY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR NOISY AND/OR DRUNKEN PARTYING!!!! Come to Kyneton in the Macedon Ranges and stay close to iconic Hanging Rock. Take under an hour to drive up and explore bountiful Bendigo, nip across to experience delightful Daylesford and meander around the wonderful wineries of the Macedon Ranges. Take a week tasting the commuter belt community before you decide to move here permanently or perhaps take a few days to visit homes for sale. Pitch your completely self-sufficient sleeping quarters on our peaceful, flat, 7 acre property which backs onto the Bald Hill Nature Reserve and is less than five minutes drive from Kyneton’s historic Piper Street which is full of delightful restaurants and cafes. There is a local taxi service if guests would like to go out for lunch or dinner with wine and/or cocktails at some of the delicious Kyneton cafes, restaurants and bars: we love Little Swallow Cafe, Home Grown, Miss M's Lounge, Dhaba, The Kyneton Hotel, Fook Shing, Animas Distillery and Botanik Balcony at Royal George. Kangaroos often bounce through the property at dusk and dawn plus there is a beautiful dawn chorus of native birds. The Bald Hill Nature Reserve has many walking tracks and native flowers and there are plenty other outdoor activities in the local area. Campfires are allowed subject to local fire restrictions and must be fully extinguished before you turn in for the night. Please search for the CFA website 'Fire Danger Period: Can I or Can't I?' which has all of the appropriate information. A fire pit with nearby water hoses and logs to sit on is available closer to the house. This is not really suitable for cooking on but is great for toasting marshmallows! Each site has a fire pit which you can use providing it is not a total fire ban. Firewood is available at a cost to you of $50 per wheelbarrow load which will easily cover two nights. This is the main source of fuel for our home so if you burn the wood we have paid to have split on our property we’ll have to replace it to keep our family warm. We have four separate camping locations on the property; site 3 right next top the dam is limited to one large RV and/or a couple of tents but you can easily have up to four RVs on sites 1, 2 and 4. We have tried to ensure privacy for each location but you may be able to see other guests and/or the house through the many trees. Please be aware that there are two dams on the property, only one of which is fenced with livestock fencing, so children should supervised at all times. My own children swim in the dam and there is a kayak available but lifejackets must be worn by children in, around and on the water to minimise risk. Pets are welcome but are entirely your responsibility. The kangaroos may prove quite enticing for some pets and as such we recommend dogs should be kept on their leash. We have one dog on our property and our neighbours also have dogs. Site 4 has ringlock fencing and farm gates which can be helpful to contain your dogs. Please be aware that the Kyneton Gun Club has their monthly clay target shoot on the 3rd Sunday of each month (2nd Sunday in December) from 11am until 5pm during which time you will hear them clay pigeon shooting. We are NOT a commercial campsite and, as such, you must be fully self-contained for power, water, showers, sewage, refuse disposal, etc. We only have our household wheelie bins and once they’re full then they’re full. Rubbish cannot be left on the ground next to them due to the local wildlife. THIS PROPERTY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR NOISY AND/OR DRUNKEN PARTYING!!!! Guests under the age of 25 must be accompanied by their parents.

Granite Springs is a working farm running various farm animals and working horses. You are welcome to walk the property and visit the farm animals during your stay(as long as you stay on the outside of paddocks/yards) There are dams and a seasonal creek running through the property, providing many options for campsites and also fishing(catch and release) (Please note creek is seasonal and not suitable for swimming).
