It is a private timber reserve and a working forest farm. We have a combination of native eucalypt forest and plantation, and we grow hay and our own beef. We have many walking and bike trails through the 150 acres of forest and pasture accessible to campers. The campsite has spring water on tap, a hot shower, toilet, rustic camp kitchen, wood stove, gas BBQ, level sites, and a campfire when permitted. Tent sites are flexible so you can choose your own space within a 2-hectare area, while Level pad sites are limited. The Port Arthur Historic Site and a safe swimming beach are within walking distance and Safety Cove and Remarkable Cave are only a 5-minute drive away. Longer walks, including the Three Capes tracks, are easily accessible. Launch your boat nearby to access good fishing or fish for squid off the Port Arthur jetty. There is plenty of wildlife to see at night and birds during the day. You might even see our resident Wedgetail Eagle! Dog-friendly (must be under control/on a lead/contained). Falcon Ridge is 208 acres of rural paradise on the way to Orford or into the township of Sorell (which is 15 minutes away). The property slopes up from the road to a large ridge line, on the right days, you will see Peregrine falcons or wedge-tailed eagles using the uplift to effortlessly soar over our property. We also have multiple echidnas that share our property, along with a family of shy wombats (that you might be lucky enough to see at dawn and dusk). The majority of the property is native eucalyptus bushland, with a few more open acres. There are sweeping views to the North and East. The property has options for all vehicle types, although some minor levelling may be required in parts for vans/campers. You're welcome to bring your dog along too! We can only accept self-contained campers, so you'll need to have your own camp toilet. There is a dump point located in Sorell (15 mins away). Located on the property are multiple fire trails, perfect for an evening or morning walk. Pushbikes are also very welcome and the more adventurous types can make full use of some of the steeper sections of the property. A fire pit has been made for your use. There is an abundance of sticks on the ground for you to collect an burn (subject to fire restrictions). Settle in, and experience the resident wildlife during the day or the Milky Way at night.

You'll discover 100 acres to walk, close encounters with sheep and cattle, and no doubt our Tilly dog will visit for a hello and a pat. Hence, we have additional electric fences if animals are close to the camping area. Take in a great therapeutic cool morning swim in the river, and beach combing along the driftwood shore is fun to do. Our dusk and night skies in the valley are truly magic. Watch the colours on the hills, mountains, and water change in front of your eyes, so pour a local wine, plate up a Grazing platter or Farmers Breakie basket and seat yourself on a good stump or camp chair and enjoy. (or platters and baskets are subject to availability and ordered in advance) Choices for day trips and activities are boundless as in all directions you can visit many National Parks, waterfalls, beach coasts, and rivers. We offer a pickers hut rustic shelter, camp toilet, picnic table, and bench along with a fire pit. (to be used in respect to fire bans). Firewood is available to purchase in advance. Please remember to bring your own fresh water to drink. We're animal-friendly, so bring along your four-legged friend so long as they're controlled, and on a lead at night. We have a Leave No Trace policy, so please ensure you leave the camp as clean and tidy as you found it, taking all rubbish with you. Relax in the beautiful peaceful setting of Meluklerdee country. Our trio of Suri Alpacas are a wonderful blend of goofy and graceful. They will come and say hello and Thunder gives cute 'eskimo kisses' Penelope Jane (PJ) and Duncan are our gorgeous mini donkeys, they are endless fun watching them play and wrestle. They both love a good scratch and cuddles and plenty of human company. Our 3 mini goats Huckleberry, Dudley and Elfie are cheeky little chappies and what they lack in size, they make up for in character. They all like a good head scratch and pat Wildlife Encounters: We also share our 100 acre hobby farm with an array of Tasmanian native wildlife including wallabies, pademelons, possums, echidnas, bandicoots, wombats, quolls and even Tassie Devils. Wedge tail eagles and hawks soar the dams, native hens (turbo chooks!) rush around the paddocks and if you are lucky you may spot a tawny frogmouth sitting on the fence watching for his prey at night. Nature enthusiasts and photographers will find plenty of opportunities to observe and capture the unique flora and fauna of Tasmania.

We are approximately 13 km south-west of New Norfolk, and 50 km from Hobart. We have a range of accommodation options, including camping, a ten bed dormitory and a self-contained family cabin. All guests have access to the communal facilities comprising: * kitchen and common room * toilets and hot showers * free laundry facilities * free barbeque facilities * free Wi-Fi Discover the variety of unique Tasmanian animals and birdlife on the property, or take an easy drive to some of Tasmania’s most renowned World Heritage wilderness areas and National Parks a short distance away. Due to our driveway access, we do not recommend booking our site if you are towing a caravan.
