When it's in season, you're welcome to sample some! Gordonvale is the nearest town, with a quiet historic charm, just 15 minutes drive away, while Cairns is around 25 minutes.

Pets must be kept on a lead at all times as we have vulnerable wildlife, cassowary, wallabies etc. living here too. The cassowary do wander through the property with chicks and feed on the rainforest fruits which is one of the reasons why we strictly don't allow dogs off leash at any time here. There is an off-leash area at the beach. There are seasonal creeks with beautiful waterfalls within the property to explore. Miallo Lakehouse is situated on a private farm allocated along a beautiful rainforest stream that is perfect for swimming and relaxing. The location is perfect as a base camp to explore this fantastic region, just 8 minutes from Mossman, 20 minutes from Port Douglas, and 20 minutes from the Daintree. Sites are located by the stream and are well-shaded in the afternoon and morning, but with enough sunny space to charge solar panels. Adjacent to the campsites are horse and cattle paddocks, where you'll see our animals grazing. All campers need to be self-contained with their own camp toilet. There is however water available. Well-behaved pets are welcome too!

Nearby tourist destinations include Chillagoe Caves, Mt Mulligan plus Mareeba those into wine, coffee and spirit tasting as well as the rich history of olden day farming. Two private spots are available a few short meters from the edge of a massive dam with another completely secluded site amongst the bushland. Bird watchers dream with the constant residents such as Pacific Black Ducks, Royal Spoon Bills, Egrets, Plumed Whistling-Ducks, Herons and Plain Turkeys plus seasonal birds flying in for a rest Black Swans, Pelicans, Jabirus, Black Cockatoos and so many more. Swim, kayak, catch and release fish, throw in a RedClaw pot or hunt for muscles clams. Do some hiking or 4 wheel driving around the hundred acres with our 4 wheel driving tracks. Please Note: Waterfront campsite is the only site accessible by 2WD with no trailer. The other campsites are 4WD access only and with off road campers/caravans only. These are self contained sites so please take your own shower and toilet facilities and take away all waste. Plenty of fantastic swimming holes nearby including Josephine falls and Babinda boulders very popular spots for tourist and the locals. Site 1 right down on the creek large grass flat space big enough for two families to set up camp. The creek runs around the outside so there are a number of viewing points to see the wildlife mentioned above. A set of solar lights hang over the firepit area allowing for more light while cooking on our wonderful swinging hotplate BBQ. Site 2 Our newer spot work in progress not so ideal for camper trailers. your situated under our tree line away from the main creek but still with your own small dirt track down to the creek. A smaller paver firepit, plenty fine for sitting around an open fire while watching the stars at night. So please check by internal message before confirming your booking that way we can confirm a spot while discussing your needs to ensure you have a clear view of your camping area.
