You will have access to our beautiful peaceful surroundings, with adequate shelter under some lovely big trees park your camper or pitch a swag. We also have a nice running creek that you can enjoy watching our many wildlife that are present throughout the creek, fish, eels and turtles.
It's truly a very private and relaxing spot to chill out and enjoy camping for a few days or whatever suits your needs while passing the area. Plenty of fantastic swimming holes nearby including Josephine falls and Babinda boulders very popular spots for tourist and the locals.
Site 1 right down on the creek large grass flat space big enough for two families to set up camp. The creek runs around the outside so there are a number of viewing points to see the wildlife mentioned above. A set of solar lights hang over the firepit area allowing for more light while cooking on our wonderful swinging hotplate BBQ.
Site 2 Our newer spot work in progress not so ideal for camper trailers. your situated under our tree line away from the main creek. A smaller paver firepit, plenty fine for sitting around an open fire while watching the stars at night.
Swimming in the creek is not recommended.
So please check by internal message before confirming your booking that way we can confirm a spot while discussing your needs to ensure you have a clear view of your camping area.
Onsite we have our shared outhouse porta toilet which is positioned in the middle of both camping areas for everyone's convenience.

We have a beautiful freshwater swimming hole down the road, and also the Mulgrave River is very close if you want to do some fishing.The camping area is large, grassy and reasonably level, with space closer to the tree line, and space more out in the open. We have had recent sightings of cassowary on our property so keep an eye out, you might just see one!We prefer self-contained campers, who have their own amenities, but we do have a toilet and shower up at the main house (about 50 metres away) you are welcome to use if needed. This is an unused bathroom downstairs so you will still have privacy. Access into the property is not suitable for large motorhomes. Entry will be too small for vehicles approx 8.5 metres long and 3.5 metres high.We grow exotic fruit on the property including limes, pomelos, mangosteens and more. When it's in season, you're welcome to sample some! Gordonvale is the nearest town, with a quiet historic charm, just 15 minutes drive away, while Cairns is around 25 minutes.

Tolga Caravan Park is situated on the Kennedy Highway at the northern end of the Tolga Scrub, the last remnants of the endangered Mabi Rainforest in the region. The Scrub is home to an abundant variety of local wildlife, including the Spectacled Flying Fox – with the Scrub being their only permanent camp on the Tablelands.
We have easy access, large, grassy, flat sites with some drive through sites available. We offer powered and un-powered sites.
We also have onsite cabins – with more accommodation options coming soon.
The Rail Trail can be accessed to the rear of the property offering guests a great walking or bike riding trail with direct access to Atherton and to the Tolga Hotel.
A few places to explore are Lake Tinaroo, Paronella Park, Yungaburra platypus viewing, Crater Lakes, Herberton Historic Museum, Millaa Millaa Waterfalls, Curtain Fig Tree and Gallo Dairy Farm to name a few. A perfect base for all of your Tablelands exploring.
Pets are welcome if you have your own van.
The park is walking distance to coffee shops, takeaway, Tolga Hotel, newsagent, bakery, hair salon and The Humpy. Supermarkets and the main town of Atherton are just a 5 minute drive along with a dump point.

We had a fantastic stay despite the rainy weather. Rowan moved us to a different spot in case the rain and road got worse, it was very thoughtful. We had a secluded spot just for us, above the creek, it was a very short walk to a nice swim spot with plenty of shade. We will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in a beautiful place near Innisfail

Baron river retreat isn’t just a beautiful place for camping for a few nights, it’s a special place that soothes the soul and refreshes and recharges you. From the moment you arrive and drive down through the farm, giving a cheeky wave to the cows you can feel your troubles melt away. The camp site itself has so much space and options for all tastes from lush grass in full sun to shady spots under the trees, all of which are flat and easy to set up on. Where ever you choose to make home for the time you are here you will be able to hear the gentle sounds of water bubbling over the rapids while you’re serenaded by the kookaburras. There’s a wonderful flat area next to the river which is perfect to have your morning coffee and if you’re lucky you might spot the resident platypus. Go for a refreshing swim, a paddle up the river or brave one of the rapid pools for a refreshing massage. And to top it all off you can finish the day with a hot shower courtesy of the donkey hot water system followed by toasting marshmallows around the fire pit while looking for fireflies. The green loo is a bonus for those who don’t do “bushy bushy”
You will not regret a stay at Baron River retreat and the hardest thing is leaving at the end of the stay.

My partner and I had a fantastic time at Glens property. It was very hot but the creek had the perfect temperature for a cooldown.
The best about our stay: No phone reception!! (At least not with Optus haha)
Glen was incredibly kind and came down a couple of times as storms approached to let us know. We will be back, for sure!!

This was definitely a favourite of ours the ease of getting there the proximity to cairns only being 20 mins the un powered sites were pick your own spot it was peaceful and tranquil the horses and chickens roaming freely made it feel like a farm stay and a big shout out to ROXY the kelpie you are a god send so beautiful always coming to say hello and have some play time loved every minute of this stay wish I had more time to stay here we will definitely be back

A little spot of paradise right here on earth. I felt as though I were wandering the Amazon. Dead white sand, crystal clear water, cool and green, jungly trees reaching across the creek, a place to restore your soul.

This place is truly your ultimate camping experience. The land where we camp is large enough for multiple caravans and level. Right in front of where you camp is the most magical fresh water creek. Plus your own private waterfall which is a short walk from your site. This place is truly so special and magical. Hubby and I have a rule that we never return to the same place twice. In 15 years of travelling around the world- this place is the only exception
