We have a whole beautiful valley with crystal clear spring-fed creeks, patches of rain forest and hillsides covered in grass-trees backing onto Wrattens State Forest. There's 1,375 acres of land - the boundaries of our property are the ridges of the mountains that encircle us, and many rare species abound here. This is a dog and horse friendly property but no pets allowed in the cabin. Our venue and campgrounds are situated at the old Jimna State School property. The school closed in 2009 with the last students attending in 2006. It was then sold by the Qld government and has been rezoned as a Camping, Recreation and Events Venue. We have retained all the old school facilities for our campers to enjoy. If you are travelling with your horse we have a paddock with water that is suitable. Send us a PM if this is something you are interested in. If you have a larger party, we can accommodate a caravan or other tents. Tidy pets are welcome with their own BYO bed and should be on-leash around the property. Some things to do within walking distance - Walk around our access road to the creek crossing on the opposite side of the paddock. - Check the weir for our platypus. - You are surrounded by incredible wildlife so be on the lookout for rainbow parrots, king parrots, black, pink and white cockatoos, kookaburras, echidnas, wallabies and yabbies in the creeks. - Walk across the weir crossing and up the access road hill to the top of the macadamia nut farm and into the Gympie National Park.

Weekend Trip to A Tent in The Forest
Adored the hell out of this place, the views and the echoing silence of nature blew me away. The nature around us was pure bliss, would recommend taking a few extra solar or battery leds as it does get quite dark and you will not be able to see if the lights provided run out of power. If you are wanting a technology free getaway surrounded by nature this getaway is the one for you. Ian is very welcoming as a host, highly recommend booking through him for the perfect location!

A beautiful and peaceful space with everything you need. Well equipped kitchen, comfy bed, vege garden, birds, frogs, privacy. I loved using the outdoor bath. Bathroom and toilet spaces are very functional and clean. I love that there is no phone service, beautiful space to connect with nature. Used herbs and lots of beautiful spinach from the garden. Kenilworth and Imbil towns 15 minute drive, and can get service there if you need. Glen and Dominique are friendly and respect your privacy. Thank you so much guys.

1 night at A Tent in The Forest
On the slope of a hill surrounded by nature just what was described and that’s exactly what we got. Clean linen and comfy beds and all the basic utensils needed. Bring insect repellent, mozzies appear after dark. Waking up to the sound of the dawn chorus of bird song was a treat.

Our family had such a wonderful weekend away at Anita’s beautiful property. It was so peaceful, we explored the area on foot, along the creek and also in our 4WD up to a lookout high on the ridge. The horses visited us at our cabin several times, which was a highlight. The cabin was so private we felt like we had the property to ourselves. Definitely need a 4WD! And the drive to Anita’s property is so beautiful too.

We loved staying at Shanlyn farm for a quiet and peaceful off grid hideaway. This was our second stay but the first at “Little Soho” which was a well appointed and comfortable vintage caravan with a deck, a view and an adjoining ensuite off the deck. The birdsong and general ambience was so calming and Lynne’s hospitality and generosity was wonderful! Including her homemade apple pie, fresh farm eggs and chutney, and the ever present sensitive touches that she sprinkles around the property. We got to pet and feed the donkeys, horses and cows and learn about her eco imprint in this world. Highly recommend you stay here, be it in a dome or caravan. Recommend you book a reiki treatment or meditate at the dromedan , or do yoga at sunrise on the Sataya deck or just walk and enjoy the property. Everything is authentically and sustainably operating for the greater good of the environment and the animals and gardens under Lynne’s gentle care. You won’t be disappointed and we will be back!!

4WD Recommended - dirt/gravel road and two creek crossings (through the creek bed) to get here. We have a whole beautiful valley with crystal clear spring-fed creeks, patches of rain forest and hillsides covered in grass-trees backing onto Wrattens State Forest. There's 1,375 acres of land - the boundaries of our property are the ridges of the mountains that encircle us, and many rare species abound here. This is a dog and horse friendly property but no pets allowed in the cabin. There is paralysis tick in this region - so we'd recommend treating any animal before you come and frequent checks while you're here. No mobile phone coverage at the cabin, but there is a hill you can drive (or walk) up on the property to get phone signal if needed and we have a landline phone in our house which can be used in emergencies.
