There is access to 2 lovely forested walks down to a little creek where you'll find a shady picnic spot to rest and wet your feet. Feel free to pick from the circular communal veggie garden adjacent to the shower. 1.2km down the road is a great shady swimming hole on the large Tuntable Creek, also a great picnic spot and area to explore. There is also a dam here which dogs can swim in close to camping. We are only 5 mins from The Channon Tavern and General Store, with many nearby swimming holes, bush walks, and the infamous Protestors Falls on Terania Ck Rd. Eclectic Nimbin is only 15 mins up a scenic winding road, and Lismore is 25 mins away for all your larger shopping needs. The popular Channon Craft Markets is on every 2nd Sunday of the month.

A beautiful piece of remnant forest on the bank of the Nerang River, with a swimming hole that is second to none. The tree tent is situated in a small forest clearing overlooking the river rapids. The site has a compact outdoor kitchen complete with refrigerator, an outdoor hot shower, a firepit and a separate composting toilet. Sails are rigged above the tent to provide extra shade and shelter. It's private and shady but only a few minutes from the house. The valley is a gem, only 200 odd people live here. If you love the outdoors - either just to chill or to actively recreate - this place is for you. As an outdoor educator, I have worked and played in the valley and surrounds for more than 25 years and I'm still discovering new things to see and do! Advancetown Lake is a short drive away with paddling, sailing and fishing and no power boats or jetskis (Yeeha!!) There is a mountain bike park on the E side of the dam. You can walk from here to Springbrook and Lamington National Parks and the glow worms at Natural Bridge are a night time "must see".

Best of all lookout Springbrook National Park has breathtaking lookouts, magnificent waterfalls, dense rainforest and ancient Antarctic beech trees. The park is part of Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage area. These lookouts are often shrouded by cloud, even when the weather is fine and sunny on the coast. For the best views, visit on clear, smoke-free days. Apple Tree Park Apple Tree Park forms part of the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk and is just one of many entry points. The starting point for the walk is the Settlement Campground at Purlingbrook Falls. The walk is a 54-kilometre trek through the beautiful Springbrook rainforest. You can do a much smaller distance if you prefer and still take in the great views and tranquillity of the rainforest. Pack your walking shoes, a hat and drink bottle and enjoy. See the birds, hear them chirping, be amazed at the beautiful historic trees. This spectacular location is just 29 kilometres from Mudgeeraba, at the top of the Springbrook range and is the access point for many of the amazing walks in the Springbrook area. The property offers a two-bedroom bungalow and a secluded campsite for self-contained campers, in addition to our other variety of services including retreats, equine therapy, weddings and venue hire. Our property is surrounded by the crystal clear ocean, a beautiful rural outlook and rainforest walks. Sugar Beach Ranch offers you a private and picturesque beachfront experience. Simply put it's ‘Nature’s Playground’. Sugar Beach Ranch is a special place... a place of relaxation and reflection. We want guests to enjoy the break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Wake up to songs of native birds. Bring your own horse, guitar, or your writing book and loll away the hours nurturing your soul in paradise. We are a wildlife sanctuary and an operating farm with horses, chickens, ducks, pigeons and a peacock. As we are located in the secluded and sleepy cane fields of South Ballina there is limited access to shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. The Burns Point Ferry is the best way to get to us, it runs from 5:30am until 12.30am daily, consistently running back and forth. An approx. 8min journey each way and costs $7.00 each way, payable by credit card only. So you can easily go into Ballina town for all shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. If the ferry isn't for you, you can drive to Ballina via Wardell on River Drive. The bungalow is located approx. 25m from the main residence, and the campsite is located approx. 300m from the main residence tucked away in the paddocks and forest. We are onsite and available if needed. Sugar Beach Ranch is an operating farm with staff onsite caring for animals and maintaining the grounds. You have access to the property's exclusive 450-metre creek. Watch the kids play amongst the 3 waterholes while you kick back in our natural rapid bar. This portion of the creek is pristine with gentle sand bed bottoms, so it suits swimmers of all ages; the water is so clean you can drink it. You might be lucky enough to spot the 3 platypus and will be delighted by the variety of bird song. Explore the many varieties of trees and pick yourself some fruit to enjoy; help yourself to the fresh herbs grown to compliment whichever dish you decide to whip up. At dusk, sit by the fire pit and kick back under the stars while enjoying the sounds of the creek and nature's wilderness. Stock up on supplies from the General Store, only 5 minute's drive, or for your major supermarkets, head into Lismore, 25 minute's drive. Visit Protesters Falls, Tehuti Falls, Whian Whian Falls, and Minyon Falls, just minutes away by car. Swimming holes and nature trails await you. Byron Bay’s beaches are only 45 minutes away. The nearby Channon Pub or the famous monthly Channon markets have all that you need for a delicious, effort-free meal! Visit nearby towns Nimbin (25 mins) and Bangalow (40 mins) for local cafes, pubs, bakeries, homewares, fashion and art.

PLEASE NOTE ** Barachi is located at the rear of our property and is only accessible by 4WD.** If you are a keen hiker or you are fit and adventurous, you are welcome to travel by foot by hiking approximately 1k down hill to Barachi (it's all up hill on the way back :-)). You'll only need to carry your sleeping bags and food as everything else is provided. Please note: Peter is happy to take your gear down and back on the Quad bike - simply select Hikers Assistance when booking. Our rustic little shack is nestled near the creek that flows in the hollow of our 100 acre property. From the moment you arrive you are embraced by the peace and tranquility - lie in the hammock, or dangle your feet in the rapids. You'll feel like you're a million miles from nowhere but minutes from everything; just 40 minutes to Byron Bay and 10 minutes to Lismore, with cute little villages all around such as Dunoon, Eltham, Federal, Bexhill, Clunes and Bangalow - immerse yourself in everything Northern NSW has to offer.
