THE IMPORTANT STUFF: ACCESS: As you enter the property, you'll find yourself driving down an unsealed dirt road, before embarking on approx 100 meters of fairly flat to gently sloping paddocks. We recommend 4WD or AWD vehicles to access, however will leave this to your discretion. PETS: We are a working farm with horses and cows that are easily spooked and we only allow dogs under very (very) special circumstances. Please send an enquiry if you wish to bring a furbaby along, but as a rule, we do not allow dogs on the property. AMENITIES: There are no drinking water or electricity provisions on site. There is a toilet provided with walking distance to all sites. Our future campers and native wildlife request that you keep your business contained to onboard toilets, porta potties or the toilet provided. RIVER ACCESS: Our large sites offer sweeping views and great fishing however the banks are raised and will require some tenacity if you wish to swim or pop a kayak in. FENCING: We have farm fencing in place between the camp sites and the river bank, however we advise small children be monitored as there are several open access points along the riverbank. As mentioned, we are a working farm using gates and fences to contain our livestock. As a rule, leave all gates as you find them (eg: if you open a gate, close it after you. If its already open, leave it open) WILDLIFE: You'll see huge wombat holes all along the river bank - although tempting for the kids, please refrain from digging these out further as our wombats still use them as houses and they contribute to riverbank erosion. You may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of our fabled red stag in the evenings and will see an array of beautiful birds and other native animals that share our property. Please note: Any form of animal cruelty will not be tolerated and there is no hunting allowed on the property. *FIRES: Govt / weather restrictions permitting. There are horses you can pat and a few sheep that are very friendly and love to be given bread. The historic Bega Cheese Factory and Heritage Center is just a couple of minutes away. You need to be self contained, with your own toilet/shower facilities but there is access to water (for dishes etc) Toilets are in the works but not yet available. Will update upon completion. PLEASE RESPECT THE TWO CARS PER SITE RULE. FIXING WEAR AND TEAR ON THE ROAD IS COSTLY.

What an amazing property for campers! Peaceful, well maintained property, with welcomed powered sites by the river with really close access to the river via boat ramp. Ross and Lisa are exceptionally welcoming hosts and ultimately main contributors to the wonderful experience. The only regret we had was our stay of 3 nights was too short! Will definitely be taking the time to get back to Ross and Lisa’s great camping grounds.

Loved this campsite. Even though it was only an hour from Sydney, it really feels like you’re away from it all. The facilities are awesome and the property is beautiful. We had the camping area to ourselves for most of the weekend but even with another group there it felt very private. Great access to Sea Cliff Bridge area. My dog also loved this place. I would love to come back!

The place is a nice option if you’re after a no-fuss camping experience without heading hours out of town. It’s close enough to the city to make a quick getaway feel doable, but still secluded enough that you get that proper “away from it all” vibe. The setup is simple and suits soft-core campers who just want an easy spot to pitch a tent without wrestling with the wilderness. There are plenty of amenities around — a kitchen with the basics, fire-compatible pans and kettles, and a great shower that’s a nice surprise after a day outside — so you’re not roughing it. The space has a relaxed feel that makes it easy to unwind. It’s the kind of place where you can switch off for a night or two without doing a full-on camping mission.

Beautiful site! Right on the river and so peaceful. We had some good chats with Ross. Very sad we were only there for a night and will definitely come back for a longer trip. Facilities were great. The road in is a little bumpy but we got in fine with our AWD and trailer. Highly recommend stay here.

Great space! Lots of room. Kitchen facilities, toilet and shower amenities made the camping experience so easy. Even took the opportunity to have an outdoor tub time! Easy to find with great communication from Natasha and only an hour from home. This was the perfect space for a first time camping with our dog.

My friends and I (and our two dogs) had the best weekend camping at Clyde River at Ross and Lisa's property. The camping sites are very well kept, the areas nice and tidy, the space between campers is great too. Sites are flat so easy and suitable for setting up swags and tents. The toilet and shower facilities are very well clean and everything was provided. The location is perfect, we were able to get the boats in and out easily with the boat ramp on site. Highly recommend and we cant wait to come back!

Where to go

Illawara

On the Illawara Coast, Shellharbour is home to the National Surfing Reserve of Killalea, and the area is also a favourite of snorkellers and divers who can explore the many shipwrecks and marine life-filled underwater cliffs. Beachfront and just a short walk from the centre, various tourist parks offer a range of accommodation including powered sites, ensuite cabins, and self-contained beachside cottages. A little farther south, Killalea State Park has a secluded camping area in the park’s grassy meadows with access to facilities including toilets, hot showers, and an undercover electric barbecue area.

Shoalhaven Coast

Another favourite among surfers and divers, the Shoalhaven Coast is also known as a wine-growing region and for the powder-white sands, crystalline waters, and whale- and dolphin-spotting opportunities of Jervis Bay. Within Booderee National Park at Jervis Bay, the Cave Beach camping area offers some of Australia’s best secluded beach camping with access to cold showers and barbecues. Farther south, beachfront caravan sites and campgrounds in Murramarang National Park let you can camp alongside resident kangaroos.

Eurobodalla Coast

The Eurobodalla Coast is home to the seaside town of Batemans Bay, famed for its fresh seafood, particularly oysters, as well as the Clyde River National Park, where you can go bushwalking, kayaking, and fishing. Just south of town, Batemans Bay holiday parks offer villas as well as powered sites with access to laundry facilities and BBQ areas. Farther south, Tuross Head is perched on a headland between two tidal lakes, making it the perfect spot for kayaking, fishing, boating, and swimming. Look out for peaceful holiday units, plus powered and unpowered caravan and camping sites with ocean views and easy access to the beach and lake.

Sapphire Coast

At the southern end of the NSW coast, the tranquil Sapphire Coast is home to the small town of Eden, one of the best places in Australia to spot humpback whales on their annual migration from May through September. Just outside town, waterfront holiday parks offer large powered and unpowered caravan sites, as well as a range of cabins, with access to camp kitchens. Forty minutes north, rustic Hobart Beach Campground in Bournda National Park has unpowered sites that make the perfect base for swimming, hiking, and exploring nearby secluded beaches.
