Whether you chose to stay of one of our campsites or in our pioneer-style cottage, all visitor being awoken to the natural bush sounds of lyre birds and cooling their heels in the crystal creek at the bottom of the property. On your way in or out, be sure to check out the boutique village of Wollombi which is just 10 minutes from Cranky Rock, where you'll enjoy wine tasting, fresh produce and quaint cafes. Other must-see's in the area include the Olney State Forest and the Wattagan National Park.The property is located just off a scenic drive, over a 2wd accessible creek crossing. It is peaceful and secluded. Campers can used shared kitchen and bathroom facilities located at the top of the camp area. Dogs are welcome, but as it's a working farm, we ask the remain on leash at all times.

We looked for alternative ways of living 6 years ago so we purchased 220 acres to build an off grid camping/eco resort. The property consists of a straw bale house, Tipis, Cottages, 5 stars shared facilities (hot showers, flushing toilets - disable toilet ), outdoor kitchen (gas bbq, pizza oven, all kitchen utensils, pots ), solar system and worm farm septic system. The facilities of the camping are quite luxurious some guests labelling them "better than at home" so you can enjoy the bush experience & still have the comfort of a home. Here you can discover amazing wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, cockatoos, lyre birds and a lot of other birds (designated bird drinking stations through a WIRES program which has a lot of success.) Bring a camera and take in the incredible sights such as wildlife, cliffs, caves, and a magical view of Mount Yengo and Moruben from the top of the property. They are designated walking tracks around the property with all variable lengths & difficulties. All water is collected from rainwater into a water tank and then filtered for safe drinking. Reverse cycle air conditioning will keep you warm and cosy in Winter and cool in Summer. The bedroom loft is accessed by a pulley controlled ladder and boasts a comfortable Queen Koala bed mattress adjacent to a huge picture window looking over the property. Blockout blinds are also provided. Downstairs is the kitchen with electric stove hob, microwave oven, sink, fridge,toaster and kettle. A breakfast bar with stools acts as a desk and eatery and is positioned in front of a huge swing out window that overlooks the outdoor spa, deck and the view to the back paddock which is superb (binoculars provided)! A lounge is situated inside the French entrance doors and this position allows a fantastic view out to the paddocks and the deck and is a great please to read and relax. The deck itself is huge and features an outdoor spa bath as well as alfresco seating with a table and sweeping stairs leading down to the grass area and firepit/bbq. Luxurious bath robes and towels are also provided. The tiny house is surrounded by beautiful native trees and plants and the grassed area in front of the deck features a gorgeous fire pit with seating. A historic little rustic outhouse houses extra firewood. Some board games, playing cards and books are provided as well as outdoor games like Finska, croquet, grip ball, boule and ring toss. Access to the properties back paddock is through a gate and there you will be surrounded by beautiful vistas and a creek at the bottom. There is an abundance of birds and wildlife for you to enjoy and view. Regular visitors include wallabies, bush turkeys, turtles, cockatoos, ducks and many other birds. There is a 'home made' grass tennis court and rackets and a few balls are provided but feel free to bring your own. For the adventurous, the creek has a log bridge which accesses the far side featuring a wild and luscious rainforest area.

Our family glamping trip at The Bower Farm Tent was an absolute success—we're already planning our next visit! The genuine hospitality and incredible personal touches made this experience truly unforgettable. The owners' effort was outstanding. Traveling with three kids can be tricky, but they expertly set up the tent for all three girls' comfort. They were incredibly responsive and helpful throughout our entire stay. The real highlight for our horse-mad eldest was the special horse riding lesson organized on-site at the Bower Farm—zero travel time and the thrill of her year! The girls also loved their brilliant, long ride on the family farm tractor. Their generosity shone through in the stunning fresh food pack: delicious farm eggs, a tasty local wine, amazing local sourdough bread, and little treats for the kids. Every item was carefully chosen. Finally, the setting is pure magic. We were lucky to spot kangaroos and mesmerizing fireflies! Nothing beats the hot tub and campfire beneath that incredible starry sky—far from the city lights, the stars are truly breathtaking. Thank you for the perfect blend of comfort, adventure, and kindness. We highly recommend The Bower Farm Tent for a five-star escape!

we booked the bell tent with jacuzzi. Overall we had a good stay and the staff were very lovely and helpful. Bell tent was clean and site facilities as expected. The site is tucked away and gives a bit of privacy and serenity which is nice. Just a few things we didn't realise beforehand that might help others... the jacuzzi is heated by fire, it takes hours to heat up. Firewood is free for the first bag, which is small and won't get you far on heating the jacuzzi, so you either need buy lots more, fossick for more through the bush (which is what we did) or bring your own. Free Wifi is great, but it is available in the common areas which are a bit of a walk from this particular site. We had very patchy 4G on telstra, optus didn't work.

The Bower Farm Glamping Experience was outstanding! The setting is remarkable; there is a nice flat outlay where the Tent is located, and a beautiful creek that runs through their property which you can walk along and explore. The amenities are beyond what you would expect for an off-grid escape. Matt & Rachel were personable, friendly and very accommodating. They both went to great lengths to ensure that our stay was both comfortable and enjoyable. Some highlights from the Trip were the Hot Tub, the amazing view of the Stars at Night, the cozy King Size Bed and we even got to see a Platypus in the wild thanks to their suggestions on where to look. Stroud is a humble town with plenty to see and do. There are Cafes, Wineries and a Distillery only a short drive away. Can't recommend enough! Will definitely be back.

The cottage was a stunning place to spend the weekend even though it rained so we didn’t get to explore as much of the bush as we would have liked. Loved the maps which greeted us with so many surprising options to explore. We walked lyrebird and yowie tracks which were challenging but very rewarding. No lyrebird sightings this time round but definitely worth the climb up the side of the mountain. Had a lovely time chilling with the walleroos in the outdoor tub after that one!

We loved our stay at cranky rock and are return guests. The hosts have poured so much love into creating a space that is full of character and comfortable for their guests. My husband, myself and our dog Millie were well looked after and loved that the hosts also went the extra mile to make sure we had a enjoyable stay we loved that the extra breakfast items they included of fresh eggs etc. Thank you once again for opening cranky rock up for us to stay on our journey back to Sydney. Cranky Rock Cottage was a delightful find! Nestled amidst stunning scenery, the cottage itself is beautifully appointed with a cozy and rustic charm. We particularly enjoyed the farm, views and hot tub. The location was perfect for exploring nearby historic towns and wineries. Pam & Lindsay are excellent hosts, kind and helpful. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Cranky Rock Cottage for a peaceful and memorable getaway.

Lindsay and Pam have created a unique cottage set among the fields and mountains near Wollumbi. Lindsay has used his particular knowledge of historic building techniques to create a space that takes you back to the mid nineteenth century, with pull cord electric lights and hewn logs throughout. One of the highlights for me was the abundant bird life. The native vegetation planted around the cottage brings past a host of scarlet browed finches, wrens and black cockatoos. Well worth slowing down with a cup of coffee on the veranda.
