Escape the Hustle in Nellies Glen – Megalong Valley Before you book: We accommodate car campers and hikers. → Car camping bookings are limited to ensure guests enjoy a quiet stay without being impacted by others, and to reduce the impact on our roads and environment. Please ensure your vehicle has sufficient clearance for off-road access. → Hikers are almost always welcome. Hiking sites are for those walking the Six Foot Track from Katoomba or Jenolan Caves. Nellies Glen is a stop along the Six Foot Track, spanning the grassy flats of Megalong Creek that the locals (wombats) call home. This private campground is ready for your next getaway. Right among the Aussie scrub and surrounded by the escarpments of Narrowneck and Ngula Bulgarabang, you'll feel a million miles away — but you’re not. A 1.5-hour walk from Katoomba along the Six Foot Track, or a half-hour trip from Blackheath, will land you at this stunning spot in the Megalong Valley. Explore the Six Foot Track, Devil’s Hole, or other Narrowneck passes on foot, and find your own special slice of Megalong Creek for a refreshing dip. Sling up a hammock, watch the sunset over the escarpment, and see the stars fill the sky. If you’ve driven into the valley, be sure to check out the local wineries, restaurants, and tearooms. This laid-back property is all about privacy — allowing you to connect with your surroundings and respect the bush while having a great time. We’re a family-friendly property and love seeing kids and dogs running around — but we’re not the place for loud music or late-night parties. Exclusivity can be arranged for organisations such as schools, community groups, workshops, or low-key weddings. Otherwise, please note that we or other campers may be present in other areas of the property.

4WD only (clearance of 20cm+ needed). Rocklee is on Wiradjuri land, a short drive from Capertee, surrounded by Gardens of Stone and Capertee national parks and the Mugii Murrum-ban State Conservation Area. Rocklee is 2.5 hours from Sydney and Dubbo, and a short drive to swimming at Turon and Coorongooba National Parks, sightseeing at Glen Davis, bird watching near Glen Alice and the terrific cafe ‘From the Paddock’. Access is 4wd only. (We’re serious!) Our road has ‘roll overs’, rocks and a couple of tight turns on large gradients) on so you need a vehicle with 20cm+ clearance. If you are towing a camper trailer, you need a good 4wd engine to get back up the hill confidently. Each campsite is a VERY long way from other sites - usually about 800m. Rocklee has a mix of no-longer used paddocks and about 950 acres of untouched bush. You will arrive through the conservation area, which has beautiful pagodas and endless bushwalks. Rocklee is a good site for star gazing. Hipcampers can choose from plenty of space where they'd like to set up camp. Please be careful as some paddocks are overgrown, fences have come down and there are lots of wombat holes, so drive slowly and be careful. There are no amenities here, campers need to be self contained and leave no trace. This means you need to bring water, use exisiing fireplaces and take your rubbish, recycling and compost with you. (You need to bring water from home or elsewhere on the way. Please note you cannot fill up free tap water at Capertee - either at the BP, the picnic area or the pub. It just doesn’t rain enough to fill up the tanks. Sorry!)

Perched on the ridge with spectacular views, our farm promises a true escape. Located 25 minutes from the beautiful village of Taralga, ours is a spot to unwind. With a large campsite, you can fit several large tents. Please note: the ground is quite rocky and hard, so a mattress is highly recommended. And for tent pegs, we recommend steel nail stakes or screw in pegs (auger style). The campsite is on the ridge, so please keep in mind the wind. When permitted, there’s a great campfire set up with a grill ready to go. Please bring a back up gas cooker in case of fire ban. There are no toilet facilities or fresh water, so you will need to come prepared. Access is via a steep dirt road. At night, the skies are majestic, and the sunrise and sunsets are spectacular. Lots of wildlife including kangaroos, wombats, wallabies, owls, eagles, hawks, goats, deer, and the occasional reptile! Taralga is home to the Argyle Inn, pub, general store and more. The famous Laggan Pub is 25 minutes and Crookwell just a bit past that. The grass has been cut back for safety. An old table and chairs are provided on site. Sorry!)
