Our beautiful border collie, Poppy, will naturally want to come say hi no matter which site you pick.
There are plenty of local food and wine venues in the surrounding area for you to enjoy.
Pets are welcome but we do have livestock on the property, so please keep them on leash.
Campfires are allowed as long as there are no fire restrictions in place.
All campers must have their own supplies and be self sufficient as we do not supply any amenities: you will need to be self-contained with own camping toilet, shower and water. Please do not dig a toilet hole, even though you leave it covered, it doesn't take long for the foxes to dig it up!!
There is mobile reception. No shooting, archery or hunting.
Camper trailers and caravans are welcome but can only stay at the easily accessible camp site.
Please note, the road to the river is now impassable even for 4WD - we will update here when it is back up to scratch. You can walk to the river (25min trip down) or you can pay for a trip in our buggy (an extra that is available to choose when booking) and I’ll drive you down.

Town center is a 5 min drive or a short walk/ride, so access to town facilities and amenities is very convenient. Please refer to images for the latter.
Firewood - please bring your own, we do not have firewood or fallen branches from trees. "Wombles Common" has a permanent fire pit area, all other sites require transportable fire pits (provided or bring your own). Please do not leave burn scars on the ground and please take your ashes with you or dump them in the "Wombles Common" fire pit area.
River - the river is excellent for fun canoeing adventures. Entering the river is at your own risk.
Fishing - great fishing in the river. We love the Red Fin!
Pets - pets are welcome but need to be controlled. The safety and comfort of the resident sheep, our neighbours and other campers are a priority. Please don't not allow your pets to disturb (including barking, wandering or chasing sheep) the peace of those around them.

Merigan Farm is a 1400 Hectare (3500 acre) working sheep and cattle farm. Our family has lived at Merigan for more than 50 years. It has been a farm since the 1840s and we still run sheep and cattle in a regenerative manner, to this day. It’s a pleasure to be able to share the countryside and farm with guests.
We currently offer two accommodation options:
Cherry Tree - A cabin with a beautiful farm outlook. With a bookcase full of books and a fire pit for cosy evenings, it's the perfect escape.
The Quarters - A private section of the old farmhouse offering rural charm and a perfectly comfortable stay.
Merigan is the name of the local Parish and on Ngunawal country. It has been recounted by indigenous locals that Merigan means Dingo. The story being that Merigan fought the Bunyip and in their tussle created the rivers and creeks across the range.
It’s a southern Australian Mediterranean environment with distinct seasons – it can reach over 42 degrees and in the winter its been known often to snow. Sometimes in summer the easterly sea breezes reaches over the range and the smell of sea salt cools the hot evening.
Merigan offers a range of activities, to relax and settle into rural life. One of the best ways to get the feel of Merigan is just taking a walk around the property. We have 3500 acres of space to meander around and a great spots for picnics, drinks and photographs. Feel free to use the Tennis Court, balls and racquets under one of the verandas at the front of the house and the bocce court at the bottom of the garden.
Bungendore, 18km away, is a thriving little country town with Galleries, gift-shops, cafés, bakeries, coffee shops and bars. The Top Pub (The Royal ) is the more casual of the hotels. The Bottom Pub (The Lake George) has a fancy restaurant attached to the more informal pub area.
Braidwood is a funky Heritage town about 25km East of Bungendore and well worth a visit. It has outstanding shops and eateries and 2 pubs. The Braidwood Hotel being my favourite.
Tarago is 14km away. The Loaded Dog do meals but mainly on weekends (Pizzas during the week). Best to check as it varies.
Other local attractions include Lark Hill Winery, Lerida Estate Winery, Turlla Truffles and Bungendore Woodworks.

It has been a farm since the 1840s and we still run sheep and cattle in a regenerative manner, to this day. It’s a pleasure to be able to share the countryside and farm with guests.
We currently offer two accommodation options:
Cherry Tree - A cabin with a beautiful farm outlook. With a bookcase full of books and a fire pit for cosy evenings, it's the perfect escape.
The Quarters - A private section of the old farmhouse offering rural charm and a perfectly comfortable stay.
Merigan is the name of the local Parish and on Ngunawal country. It has been recounted by indigenous locals that Merigan means Dingo. The story being that Merigan fought the Bunyip and in their tussle created the rivers and creeks across the range.
It’s a southern Australian Mediterranean environment with distinct seasons – it can reach over 42 degrees and in the winter its been known often to snow. Sometimes in summer the easterly sea breezes reaches over the range and the smell of sea salt cools the hot evening.
Merigan offers a range of activities, to relax and settle into rural life. One of the best ways to get the feel of Merigan is just taking a walk around the property. We have 3500 acres of space to meander around and a great spots for picnics, drinks and photographs. Feel free to use the Tennis Court, balls and racquets under one of the verandas at the front of the house and the bocce court at the bottom of the garden.
Bungendore, 18km away, is a thriving little country town with Galleries, gift-shops, cafés, bakeries, coffee shops and bars. The Top Pub (The Royal ) is the more casual of the hotels. The Bottom Pub (The Lake George) has a fancy restaurant attached to the more informal pub area.
Braidwood is a funky Heritage town about 25km East of Bungendore and well worth a visit. It has outstanding shops and eateries and 2 pubs. The Braidwood Hotel being my favourite.
Tarago is 14km away. The Loaded Dog do meals but mainly on weekends (Pizzas during the week). Best to check as it varies.
Other local attractions include Lark Hill Winery, Lerida Estate Winery, Turlla Truffles and Bungendore Woodworks.

Our property is located in Tumut Plains at a nursery that specialises in African Violets. Enjoy the serene landscape with uninterrupted views of nearby hills, whilst relaxing under the shade of an Elm tree. Wander through the established gardens or relax and watch the neighbouring cattle wander through their paddocks.
The house on the property is 120 years old and was once a school that has now been converted. The property also has some of the most amazing sunsets on offer.
We are only a few minutes by car from the beautiful township of Tumut where you can access the Tumut River and Blowering Dam for all your water activities. There is also a great brewery for food and drinks, a nearby by mountain bike park and we are not too far from Adelong Falls.
The property is pet friendly but please ensure your pets are under control at all times. Campfires are welcome in the firepit provided, as long as there is no restrictions in place. We also have some firewood available.

Shepherds Rest Hipcamp in Tarago is a great, no-fuss spot to switch off for a weekend. The setting is beautiful—rolling hills, big skies, and complete privacy with no other campers around.
The animals are a highlight, especially the friendly goats and the llama, which add a lot of character to the stay.
It’s simple camping, but that’s the appeal. Quiet, peaceful, and an easy getaway from Canberra.

My service dog and I had such a great time.
Jacqui made us feel welcome and we were able to stroll around the farm looking at the animals. A peaceful place to stay and beautiful views. We stayed in the barn accommodation and looking forward to returning and camping at one of the campsites. I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys being out of the hustle and bustle of the city but close enough if you wanted to visit towns nearby.

This place is fantastic, peaceful and being a single site, fantastic if you want a getaway without the extra crowds of caravan parks or multi-site properties. The Hosts are very a friendly and good natured bunch, their chickens produce some really good eggs, so order yourself some of those, and the goats wandering around are harmless and fun to feed. I will be back!

Jacqui accommodated all of our needs, inclusive of offering us free of charge a room to shelter from the elements after the heavy rain and high winds we encountered last week. The animals are friendly and approachable and her dogs are lovely. Highly recommended!

My partner and I enjoyed our stay at this site. Jacqui was friendly and helpful. Her animals were the sweetest, her llama, goats and dogs all loved pets! The site was spacious with a beautiful view. The amenities were plentiful, which included a kitchen, flush toilets and even hot showers.

Loved the fantastic wide views across the valley, particularly enjoyed the mornings and late afternoons listening to the kookaburras and watching the colours of the hills change. The (10 year old) kids really enjoyed feeding the sheep, spending some time at the river and generally slowing down and roaming around enjoying the space in this peaceful setting. Sarah was a great host and couldn't be more accommodating. A great launchpad for exploring the area and Canberra, highly recommended.

My friend and I both stayed at Jackie’s farm called the Shepherd. We stayed in what’s called the barn and I have everything to say other than a complaint. This was one of my most memorable experiences and Jackie was a blessed human and that was what stuck out to us. We had amazing sleeps, the mornings were unforgettable, and the sunset with the friendly llama and goats was memory in itself. Everything was super clear and easy directions, not too far from Canberra either. everything was super aesthetic, clean, and well maintained, especially the wooden hut as a bathroom. We will be back Jacqui!!!!

Great location, close to all major attractions. The showers were hot and bathrooms clean. Staff helpful and the Tavern provided a great spot to cool off with a cold beverage. I would bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper as other campers and the highway can get loud.
