Here at The Orchard visitors are welcome to pick their own fruit in season, at a cost. Please speak to your host if you are interested. There are plenty of local food and wine venues in the surrounding area for you to enjoy. Road access to site is suitable for 2WD in dry weather. It is a short, steep drop with two tight corners not suitable for large caravans and RVs. The site has a newly constructed long drop toilet, pets are allowed and bring your own firewood to ensure you have enough as it's becoming scarce around the site. Please take all rubbish with you. Please note: Kids under 12 are free to support young families wanting to experience the bush. Please still add them to the booking as they will not be charged. What is not allowed: shooters and trappers, illegal fishing, motor bikes, quad bikes and other noisy machines! Killongbutta Road runs off Freemantle Road and is 36 kms from Bathurst. It is 40 kilometres from Orange through Gowan Road that joins Lower Lewis Ponds Road. For your information, On the Stone is a podcast and publishing studio that produces a quarterly magazine for the Freemantle Road community. We have local history to share and can always provide information about our services. Looking for some peace and tranquility? We'd love for you to enjoy a spot in front of our creek on our 53 acre property, Brazenhead, which is surrounded by 1.3kms of the Winburndale Rivulet. Brazenhead is a 15 minute drive to the closest shops, 20 minutes into Bathurst, 30 minutes from Sofala and 1 hour from the historic Hill End. There is ample space for groups, with wide open spaces but also plenty of trees for shade. Fires are permitted in the spots provided and according to local fire restrictions. The creek is a good spot to try some gold panning, go exploring and also has some deep swimming holes for you to enjoy. Pitch your tent or pull up your camping vehicle next to our creek! You will have complete privacy, only the kangaroos and other wildlife to share your trip with. There is plenty of space for the kids to run around, kick a ball, play some cricket, or go exploring along the creek during the day. In the evenings everyone can sit and relax in the quiet in front of a campfire. We welcome only self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. The campsite is 2WD accessible with plenty of room and flat space to camp on. Not far from our property you can find the Bridle Track, which is very well known by 4WD enthusiasts. It was originally built as the first road between Bathurst and Hill End during the gold rush era, and was given its name due to horsemen having to dismount and guide their horses by the bridle through the very narrow sections. If you visit in November you may be here for the annual Marmalade Festival, with good weather, musicians, stalls and of course jams and marmalades! No pets please.

Natural bushland consisting of 80 acres with the Crudine River along the boundary. We are part of the Sofala gold rush history (from the 1850s), sit back and imagine gold miners and their families camped along the banks. There are two campsites, Camp Crudine Kitchen and Camp Crudine Riverside. When you make your booking whether for 2 people or a group of family and friends the chosen campsite is all yours for the length of your stay. If you need supplies Sofala is just 8 km away, drop in and explore the town. Hill End is 28 km which is another Historic town to explore. Camp Crudine is great for kids and adults alike to have a go at panning for gold or try out the metal detector. All findings must be returned to the host, lol. Campfires must comply with the local fire restrictions and guideline and must be contained in the fire pits provided. Bonfires are not permitted at any time. We recommend campers bring their own firewood as campers are requested to source only small amounts of firewood along the riverbank. Under no circumstances are trees to be cut down. Firewood is available at the Sofala General Store. Campers are required to bring everything they need and take all rubbish when leaving. We are Marilyn and Peter, we own, live and run a mixed farming business from this beautiful land, located in the Central Tablelands NSW. The country varies between undulating and steep land and has 7 km of double frontage Bell River running through it. The river can range from rapidly flowing to the more usual steady flowing and is most often very clear. The river has numerous swimming spots, some with a rocky base, and some with sand. The winding river and the varying countryside is incredibly peaceful and beautiful and is a perfect retreat for those looking to disconnect and relax. The river has its origin near Orange and is also fed into by many springs. Weandre Creek runs in the backcountry and winds into the Bell River. Our comfortable Hut is situated on an elevated spot looking down on the river with a graduated road leading down. It has everything you need for a relaxing, recharging stay in nature. The Hut can accommodate up to 4 people, however, you also have the option for up to 6 additional guests to set up swags, tents, or a camper trailer nearby. There is space next to the Hut, or for those with a 4WD, there are some lovely camping sites down by the river. We also offer sites for those looking for a self-contained camping site, in a beautiful location. We love the solitude, the endless bush walks, swimming, and being immersed in nature. We are confident you will too. We also have a lovely art gallery on the property, and for a small fee and prior arrangement, you are welcome to come and take a look. From our farm, it is 60 km to Orange with all its wineries, food festivals, and many attractions. Wellington is 40 km and boasts the Wellington Caves. Dubbo is 90 km and is a big inland city and boasts the Western Plains Zoo. We are so glad to let you know we have a new (but intentionally rustic) structure which houses a shower powered by gas and solar with gravity fed water. Showers need to be short because water supply is limited. In a separate space is a gas BBQ and sink. This is pictured in our latest photos. This building also looks down on the Bell river which looks sensational at the moment due to all the rain.

Alectown is historically a farming and gold mining area with mine shafts from the 1800’s dotted across the area. You can visit an open-cut gold mine in Peak Hill 15 km north of Burrill Banks. In the early 1970’s Mr James, the owner of 'Biara', subdivided three 25 acre blocks across the road from the original homestead. The first block was sold to his nephew, the middle block was to be purchased by the Preston family and ‘The Gateway’ was purchased by a Mr Carveth. Unfortunately, the sale of the middle block fell through then, due to family illness, 'Biara' was sold and the family moved to Blackheath. After this move, and as thank you to his son, Mr James transferred the title of the middle of the three subdivided blocks to his only son, William. Back in the late 1960’s, early 1970’s, the area was vastly different than it is today. Travelling to school entailed a car trip to Hargraves then bus to Mudgee which would have been a 2 hour round trip! The area was far more isolated as there was no power and entailed an overland phone line, which had to be regularly repaired if residents wanted to be able to communicate with the outside world. The site allows mainly for camping and relaxing although there are numerous dirt roads to explore, Mudgee wineries close by and Burrendong Dam not far away (accessible via Hill End Road near Erudgere). Hargraves is also known for it's alluvial gold deposits and fossickers still go there regularly to check out Louisa Creek. There is 15km's of dirt road which needs to be traveled to reach the property. Dependent on weather, and if it has been graded recently, this road can be in varying states of repair. In heavy rain it may be difficult to get 2WD access via the public road due to the clay content in the road . Kangaroo, wallaby, owl species, kookaburra, echidna, snakes, various lizards, including shinglebacks, are often seen on these roads and the property.

To the northwest lies Goobang National Park that includes Caloma lookout, one of the high points in the Wanda Wandong sector of Goobang National Park. The area is a bird watchers' paradise - you can often spot birds of prey, such as wedge-tailed eagles, brown goshawks and brown falcons, soaring across the sky. Black cypress pines, grevilleas, lomandras and heath feature commonly on the landscape. There are many tall grass trees in this area too, some of which are believed to be hundreds of years old. This is a large property that is taking a break from sheep farming. Covered in gum trees and pines and lots of open space. The property has a creek with all year round water holes and dams. You can do almost anything you want. Hiking, fishing, swimming, camping and living the dream. There's emus (bush chooks), kangaroos (hopping dogs), platypus and no drop bears, meaning you can sit back, relax and go back to the way it was. Self sufficient campers only, leave no trace. You must bring your own camping toilet and shower. If booking under the Group listing, you will need to arrange you own portaloos, which I am happy to manage delivery/pick up of with the local hire company. It's 15 minutes to the pub in town if you're up for a coldie or a meal. Our farm is a work in progress.

In the early 1970’s Mr James, the owner of 'Biara', subdivided three 25 acre blocks across the road from the original homestead. The first block was sold to his nephew, the middle block was to be purchased by the Preston family and ‘The Gateway’ was purchased by a Mr Carveth. Unfortunately, the sale of the middle block fell through then, due to family illness, 'Biara' was sold and the family moved to Blackheath. After this move, and as thank you to his son, Mr James transferred the title of the middle of the three subdivided blocks to his only son, William. Back in the late 1960’s, early 1970’s, the area was vastly different than it is today. Travelling to school entailed a car trip to Hargraves then bus to Mudgee which would have been a 2 hour round trip! The area was far more isolated as there was no power and entailed an overland phone line, which had to be regularly repaired if residents wanted to be able to communicate with the outside world. The site allows mainly for camping and relaxing although there are numerous dirt roads to explore, Mudgee wineries close by and Burrendong Dam not far away (accessible via Hill End Road near Erudgere). Hargraves is also known for it's alluvial gold deposits and fossickers still go there regularly to check out Louisa Creek. There is 15km's of dirt road which needs to be traveled to reach the property. Dependent on weather, and if it has been graded recently, this road can be in varying states of repair. In heavy rain it may be difficult to get 2WD access via the public road due to the clay content in the road . Kangaroo, wallaby, owl species, kookaburra, echidna, snakes, various lizards, including shinglebacks, are often seen on these roads and the property.

Stuart Town was originally named Ironbark in relation to Banjo Patterson’s, The Man from Ironbark. Fairview Farm sits on 20 Acres in Stuart Town and provides beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Nearby is Burrendong Dam / Mookerawa Waters for fishing, boating, paddling and swimming. We are also surrounded by rolling hills. It's a very peaceful, tranquil setting. Lots of birdlife, grass parrots, king parrots, blue wrens, willie wagtails, and eastern rosellas just to mention a few. We have a collection of farm animals, sheep, alpacas, goats, chickens and two resident Boredoodles. Feeding of animals is allowed as well, for the enjoyment of kids. Walking and bike riding (pushbikes only) within the farm is allowed. There is a local Pub in town a short drive or bike ride, they serve pizzas every day and meals on specific day/nights will need to check! Approximately 45 minutes from Orange, 4 hours from Sydney. The region between Molong and Parkes offers scenic views, bush walking, bush camping, picnic areas, mountain biking trails, and 4WD touring. To the northwest lies Goobang National Park that includes Caloma lookout, one of the high points in the Wanda Wandong sector of Goobang National Park. The area is a bird watchers' paradise - you can often spot birds of prey, such as wedge-tailed eagles, brown goshawks and brown falcons, soaring across the sky. Black cypress pines, grevilleas, lomandras and heath feature commonly on the landscape. There are many tall grass trees in this area too, some of which are believed to be hundreds of years old. This is a large property that is taking a break from sheep farming. Covered in gum trees and pines and lots of open space. The property has a creek with all year round water holes and dams. You can do almost anything you want. Hiking, fishing, swimming, camping and living the dream. There's emus (bush chooks), kangaroos (hopping dogs), platypus and no drop bears, meaning you can sit back, relax and go back to the way it was. Self sufficient campers only, leave no trace. You must bring your own camping toilet and shower. If booking under the Group listing, you will need to arrange you own portaloos, which I am happy to manage delivery/pick up of with the local hire company. It's 15 minutes to the pub in town if you're up for a coldie or a meal. Our farm is a work in progress.

Damien & Tammie were very welcoming and friendly and happy to have a chat about the history of there property. We had an awesome time at Hatton Airstrip. After a down hill drive to get to the river we were so happy with the beautiful setting. Green grass, flat, right next to the beautiful river and plenty of room as the sites are spread out. Perfect for big group bookings or single/couple bookings. We had Lama's and horses roaming around us also. Peaceful and just perfect. Getting back out was a fun challenge and definately 4wd is a must. We towed our 15' off road caravan and had no problems. Will definately recommend and will be back, 2 nights was not enough👌

We had such a wonderful four days at Watton Airstrip that we decided to stay another four. Tammie and Damo were the most incredible hosts—nothing was ever too much trouble. The road in is definitely 4WD territory, so make sure you air down to around 25 at the check-in point. There are plenty of sites to choose from depending on the experience you’re after. We chose Rivers Edge for the seclusion, and it delivered beautifully. In hindsight, we probably would have enjoyed The Rapids even more as it’s right at the end—but then we might have missed the platypus! Our favourite overall would have to be Hog Heaven, although the solar would have struggled there, and it’s close to Deep Spot, which seems to be popular (so a little less secluded). We were completely solo for four nights with no one around except the horses and llamas. We were lucky enough to see so many animals that others don’t always get the chance to—ducks, llamas, horses, a fox, deer, snake, platypus, emu, kangaroos, wallabies, and even cod in the river. All were a treat to see… although the fox was relentless at night trying to sniff out food! And yes, the flies were next-level—but hey, that’s camping. Phone service is not great, but we had Starlink, so no issues at all (especially handy with a uni assignment due). I was a little stressed thinking about towing the van back out, but Tammie and Damo gave such clear directions that it ended up being fine. I’m already planning the next visit!

Field Days ticked our boxes, we had the place to our selves, it is close to the wineries and walking in Mt Canobolas. We Will be back.

Absolutely loved the camping at Camp Crudine. Beautiful spot right on the creek with enough water to dunk yourself (and the dog that fell off the kayak!). Entry is not for the faint hearted but worth every clenching moment on the way down the hill! Definitely gonna come back to this little hidden gem!

A stunning riverside camp that is completely private! It definitely needs. 4wd to access but that makes is that much better, it’s very secluded. The river is really clear and great for swimming. Would highly recommend this place to anyone!
