1 night at Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary

What an amazing place! Our cabin was nestled in among the kangaroos, wallabies, wallaroos, emus, and (new to us) padamelons. We arrived as the park was closing for the night and got to explore on our own for a bit. Then the best part: the Wild Night Out walk with a ranger! Our guide, Talia, answered all of many questions, introduced us to the nocturnal animals, told us their stories, and let us feed many of them. It was the most special few hours of our trip to Australia so far! In the morning, we explored the bush trail on our own before the park opened, accompanied by some very friendly emus for a the first bit. The lodgings were clean and comfortable, with easy access from parking lot. Truly a special place and a special experience!

This shack oozes soul and creativity. We loved our stay. The separate bedroom is beautiful, the main living area more rustic. We loved the large kitchen and excellent gas stove and all the comfy couches, (that 4 of us slept on), and we all sat around play board games and chatting into the evening. We enjoyed a family meal at the table in the garden surrounded by the beautiful bush. A river swim on inflatables at the swimming hole 200m down the road, and taking the dog to play on the long stretches of the river sand bed a half a kilometre to the north, immersed us further in the stunning nature of the area. The early convict settler history of the area - the old cemetery, St Albans pub and the Convict Trail - also provided us with plenty to do beyond the shack. It was a joy and honour to stay in the creative home of Halifax and enjoy this beautiful part of Australia. Thank you, Helen and Steve.

Weekend Trip to Wattle Valley Farm

Plenty of camping space. Facilities were excellent. Cabins were very clean and cosy. Close to Wollombi if you require a coffee fix. Would have been great if we were able to access the creek . Overall a fantastic place for camping with friends and family.

I absolutely love the Glossy Heights Location and both Phil and Lyndel were amazing about showing us where the set up is. Absolutely stunning grounds and beautiful night sky. There were some other people with us and they were super, super quiet and I felt like we had everything all to ourselves. Would 10/10 recommend this beautiful place to visit!

What a top spot! We absolutely loved 'The Shack'! It is private, rustic, quirky. It has history and so much character, I mean where else will you see a sandstone rock wall as the internal wall? It is as if you are going into someones private holiday house. You could cook for 50 people in the huge kitchen which is stocked with all the basics (oil, salt, pepper, coffee tea etc) There are pots and pans galore, food processors, mixers and all sorts of stuff. Also provided: board games, candles, tea lights, incense, books, records - there is so much stuff. There are gaps in the walls so the occasional lizard pops in for a visit, but this all adds to the charm! With only a 5 minute drive to the historical St Albans Pub, you have your bases covered. We will be back, so Yes I would absolutely recommend!

Cute little shielded area at the back of the property, shame it was a bit cloudy at night so the stars weren't as visible but none the less my partner and I had a good time.

Weekend Trip to Mt Nellinda Campsite

Such a cosy place, was nice to be by ourselves in the bush. We had a great weekend even with the rain. It was nice to sit out under the awning with a fire, listening to the birds. We hope to come back some day.

We spent one night in the Lil House. Everything was well prepared and equipped. Even wood in the firepit for the evening. We were surprised that we even had eggs, butter, bread, some vegetables, fruits, coffee, milk and many other things to prepare our own breakfast. Our dog was happy to run around unleashed and we had a great time.

What a magical place! A rustic cottage built with cliff face wall with greenery and directly in the beauty of of the Aussie Bush! The kiln works, sandstone carvings and artwork that surround the cottage make this place very special. We brought many provisions but did not need anything besides bedding which they also provide for a fee, as the cottage was stocked with everything we needed. The fireplace was so cosy and there also a fireplace outside. The bathroom was awesome and love the references of Mr Halifax around the place. The kitchen had a wonderful gas stove top and there is event a fridge and microwave, along with a PlayStation 2 in the living area (GTA San Andreas great video game!) chromecast with the TV and wifi. We saw a family of wallabies in the field at the bottom of the mountain. The river and swimming hole, both close by in walking distance and a short drive to the Settlers Arms Inn next to the river. There were white peacocks and colourful male peacocks just walking around near the Settlers Arms and the river freely! The Wisemans Ferry Crossing was a fun added bonus. It's like the Garden or Eden there! 🦚 We will be back for sure! Thank you for our wonderful stay Helen and Steve ❤️

Staying at The shack really gave us the opportunity to unwind and relax and reconnect as family. they have every convenience available and the bed was very comfortable. we would love to come back in winter, build a fire in the fireplace and do it again. Thanks Helen & Steve!

What an amazing place to camp in Sydney! Truly remarkable. Beautiful campsite and first class amenities like hot showers and a great kitchen. We also did a guided tour which I can’t recommend highly enough - so fascinating and brought a much deeper level of meaning to our trip. I also really enjoyed the mobility yoga class, be sure to ask if they’re offering it. Amazing getaway for families, solo campers, history buffs or someone just wanting to test out gear and have an adventure!

2 nights at Cockatoo Island

What a cool experience! Catching the ferry over was really easy and there are some beautiful views of the harbour. My Deluxe Waterfront tent had a great view of the water and was decked out with stretcher beds, bedding, camp chairs & towels. The bathroom & camp kitchen facilities are great - clean & stocked with all you need! The island has an interesting history and I really recommend doing a tour. Blue Haven Gypsy Paradise

On the Central Coast just 1.5 hours from Sydney is this relaxing peaceful escape suitable for a few families or a group of friends. This place has a truly fascinating history. The huge backyard previously hosted an annual gypsy festival to celebrate International Romani day. The backyard is really the highlight - from the moment you step into it you will feel like you have escaped into your own little paradise. The house itself has 3 bedrooms, with 1 bathroom inside and 1 bathroom outside. Inside the house, which can sleep up to 8 people. In addition to the main house, there are 3 hand-made gypsy style caravans on site. The largest (brown) caravan at the front of the property has a double bed and 2 small single beds - so can sleep up to 4 people. It is suitable for 2 adults and 2 kids. The smallest caravan (green) has 2 single beds in it - please note that these beds are narrower than a standard single bed - see photos. Bed linen and Towels are provided only for the main house occupants - you must bring your own linen and towels when staying in the caravans. The medium caravan (blue) is in the backyard and can be used as a cubby house/chill out area or workspace. The house itself has recently been renovated, with care taken to retain its gorgeous vintage fixtures and furniture. There are coloured stained glass windows and lighting pendants throughout the house. This is our family holiday house so we have set it up with everything that you and your family will need to feel comfortable and at home. It’s an absolute paradise for kids with the trampoline, jetty, gypsy cubby house, kayaks and fishing opportunities. At Bar Point there are no shops or cafes so you must bring everything you need with you, basic pantry staples such as salt, pepper, cooking oil etc are provided. Kayaks, fishing poles and crab pots provided. Our own private residence is a separate apartment upstairs, there are no shared walls or internal stairs and you will have your own private entrance, however as it is a large, old wooden house you may at times hear us moving about upstairs, naturally we try to be as quiet as possible when we have guests visiting. We will leave you entirely to yourselves but if you do need any help or information or even a little guided walking tour of the locality we are very happy to accommodate you. Our sauna deck is a shared area which guests are welcome to use, heating the sauna takes an hour or two, so just let us know and we will get it all ready for you with fresh towels, scented oils and branches of freshly cut lavender or wormwood to create a beautiful ambience.

Please be aware there is river noise during our busy times on weekends so may not suit those looking for tranquillity on weekends. During the week it's fine but weekends are busy and a bit noisy.
