The sites are surrounded by rugged mountainous bush land with views, trails, cliffs, 3 creeks to explore and includes a private lake ‘Lake Arid’ with its own island, ‘Dead Dog Island’. Swim, paddle, fish, play.
Metres away is another private swimming hole ‘Pants Off Pond’ stocked with Silver Perch and Bass.
So whether you indulge in pants off, or leave them on and just fish it’s up to you.
Explore a little further and you’ll find ‘The Abyss’ a former micro quarry, 9m deep waterhole.
The creeks have waterfalls, swimming holes, pure and clean, though are a rugged unmarked hike.
The sites are site only. You’ll need to take care of your waste, water, rubbish and power. Generator is ok, we’re out of earshot, so is everyone else.
Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit and an abundance of ‘cut your own’ firewood upon the ground.
Remember, fires this time of year are for ‘cooking only’, so be sure to bring those marshmallows…
Pet Friendly, 4WD friendly with a bunch of serious challenges too… Horse friendly too, yep, there’s a yard to keep them too, up by the house.
Accessible by 2WD with sites with enough space for any size caravan or motor home.

HISTORY
This land is Gumbaynggirr land. Please be particularly mindful of our First Nation's long presence on this land.
In the 1800's, white men came
seeking Red Cedar, closely followed by settlers having a go at dairying; though logging
has remained this area's mainstay. This special property, despite last being selectively logged about 50 years ago, hosts many huge old-growth trees
remaining steadfast for your discovery and wonder. And many more are continuing to
grow out too.
About 35 years ago
about nine of this property's eastern-most 104 acres became part of a far larger nashi pear orchard which filled much of the flats of
this top end of the valley that you see today.
Ultimately they failed to set good commercial fruit, and the rootstocks took over.
You can see remnant rows of these trees just south of the property, from along the road. (Beware though -
they have spikes that could
puncture Caterpillar tracks!)
MORE RECENTLY extensive lantana control efforts have been undertaken as we now move into revegetating with native species and implementing a permaculture plan.
Today the property is registered with Land For Wildlife and hosts a very wide mix of native vegetation communities.

Our favourite part of living at Soulhaven is the daily orchestra of birds! Although you will feel like you’re completely secluded from busy town-life, we are only 15 minutes from the nearest shops.
Enjoy a toasty campfire in the evenings where you can sit back and gaze at the stars. There are trail bikes tracks nearby and the iconic Border Ranges is just past Kyogle.
This campsite is 2WD friendly and caravans are welcome. You may need to level your caravan for a good night's rest.
Your pet, on a lead, is welcome to camp with you. We love animals, but one of the reasons we left suburbia was to get away from barking dogs. If your dog barks at night, or is not we’ll socialised, you’re best to leave pooch at home!

Nestled along the mighty Clarence River, Cinnabar River Retreat offers a private, peaceful escape surrounded by mountain views and country charm. Our off-grid stay is completely powered by solar and connected with Starlink Wi-Fi, giving you the best of both worlds — modern comfort and nature at your doorstep.
Your booking includes both the main house and the hut — perfect for families or groups.
The House
Our spacious farmhouse comfortably sleeps up to 12 guests across four bedrooms:
• Two bedrooms with queen beds
• Two bedrooms with queen beds and bunk beds
The home features a large open kitchen and living area, complete with a TV, Thermomix, and pod coffee machine — perfect for relaxed country meals. The bathroom is wheelchair-friendly, and all linen is provided.
The Hut
For those wanting an authentic bush experience, the hut accommodates extra guests with two sets of bunk beds (suited for swags) — $30 per person, per night.
It also includes a large open fireplace ideal for camp-oven cooking, plus a table and dartboard for a true rustic retreat.
Farm Life & Activities
Cinnabar is a family-run working cattle farm, so you may spot our cattle and working dogs in action. We welcome pets, but kindly ask that they are kept on a lead for everyone’s safety.
Enjoy kayaking, swimming, and catch-and-release fishing in the Clarence, or simply relax and soak up the peace and quiet.
The closest pub and general store are in Copmanhurst (46 km) — a great spot for a hearty feed and a cold beer. The nearest supermarket is in Grafton (76 km).

My girlfriend and I had such a beautiful weekend away at this Hipcamp. It truly felt like our own private sanctuary. The highlight was the secluded waterfall and champagne pool; absolutely stunning and such a special place to swim, relax, and take in the surroundings. Having something so magical just a short walk from camp made the stay unforgettable.
The campsite itself was well maintained, spacious, and thoughtfully cared for, offering the perfect balance between comfort and immersion in nature.
Rob was a fantastic host, welcoming, helpful, and generous with firewood. He also provided a clear map to the waterfall, which made exploring easy and enjoyable.
The peace and quiet were exactly what we needed. Falling asleep to birdsong, insects, and the gentle sound of the breeze flowing through the trees was the perfect soundtrack to unwind.
We left feeling refreshed and grateful. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a peaceful, nature-filled escape.

I loved the stay at countryside sunset campsite with Tara, she was very accommodating, herself and her partner met us at the gate and introduced themselves which was a nice touch you don’t get often, it is definitely in my saved so next time I am in the area I can go back.

We loved camping at Rod's place. A lovely drive to get there, peaceful surroundings lots of wildlife. Grassy patches to set up camp and large fire pit provided.
Close drive to Scouts Falls and the beaches.
We were able to take a hike on Rod's property to get to some waterfalls and enjoy swimming in the waterholes.
Highly recommend.

Absolutely incredible and magical part of NSW that we were lucky enough to experience. The camp sites are very well set out and meticulously maintained. The experiences and extras Rod offers are well thought of and planned. Rod's knowledge of the land and and his attention to detail in maintaining this magical place is just incredible. The waterfalls are breathtakingly beautiful and we were lucky enough to have it all to ourselves. If I could give a 100 star rating, I would. Thank you Rod for having us! We will definitely be back.

We were looking for a secluded place to set up camp on our way back to Sydney. We camped at watermelon flat, it was everything we could ask for. Rod welcomed us along with Reddy the dog that came and greeted us each morning.
You Must do the walk to the waterfall it’s truely a hidden paradise to behold. Worth the adventure. Campsite was well maintained and the stars are wonderful at night. The nearby town Glenreagh is such a hidden gem be sure to check out the bakery and say hi to the team there!

Very quiet natural bushland setting.
Good place to recharge. Enjoy the chorus of cicadas every evening followed by the frogs in the lilypond and finishing off with the late night owl calls.

Beautiful grassy areas to setup right next to Blaxlands Creek. Vicki and Craig were so accommodating, from numerous choices of where to camp through to fantastic suggestions of places to visit. Great place to either relax and stay put or as a base to explore the surrounding areas.

Thanks rod, you have a beautiful property. Top shed camp site was great, very private, close to the waterfalls which is highly recommended, and good, clean facilities. Would recommend staying.

Such an amazing stop! Beautiful surroundings, quiet and relaxing. Hosts are super friendly. Great watering hole to swim and our dog loved being able to run in and out of the water all day long. Even the cows came to say hi. Wish we could have stayed longer than just 2 nights.

Had an absolute amazing stay, I took my pup stitch on his first camping trip and couldn’t gone better amazing creek for dogs to play in as well as yourself. The waterfalls up the mountain was stunning as well plus pup can come most of the way , and a place to tie them up with water while you find the waterfalls. Plus Rod was an amazing host, very kind ! I also suggest it to my friends and they will be enjoying it over new years ! Plus I definitely plan on coming back .
Also about 20 ish + min drive up the road is scot falls busy but gorgeous!

Weekend Trip to Barachi by the Creek
We stayed at Barrachi Camp with a mate and honestly had the best time. It was the perfect little escape from Byron — so peaceful, private, and beautifully tucked away on the farm. Peter and Tania have created something really special there, a cosy cabin that feels completely nestled in nature while still being super comfortable. We loved the quiet, the privacy, and just slowing down for a couple of days. We’ll definitely be back, and next time we’ll bring more friends to share this gem. Highly recommend if you’re after a proper reset.
