We are nestled down a quiet road in the heart of the King Valley wine region of northeast Victoria. We run a lifestyle property with some mischievous goats, Scottish Highland cattle, horses, chooks & 3 crazy dogs. Our local area is jam-packed with loads to do. Wineries a plenty, great food, & great pubs. You can spend your days relaxing & enjoying the fruits someone else's labour. If you are after something more energetic; we are close to some of Victoria's best 4wding. You can test your limits or simply go searching for our iconic high country huts. During the winter, you can day trip to the snowfields. If this is not your scene you can simply enjoy the lights of Mt Buller ski resort as you sit around your campfire at night. Our area is steeped in Ned Kelly history, where you can retrace his footsteps throughout the district. Dog friendly, campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place & firewood included. Only 3 large campsites! Great for family groups and friends, lots of room. Kids under 5 stay free, pet friendly. North East Vic is a tourist mecca, with food and wine, lakes and rivers, cycling and markets, mountains and waterfalls. - We are only 2 and half hours from Melbourne and 20 mins off Hume Fwy, via Wangaratta. Please read the whole listing, lots to tell you about us. Campsites 1 is large and can accommodate two vans and 2 - 3 tents (or 14 -16 people). Campsites 2 and 3 are smaller and more suited to one van with 1 - 2 tents (or 4 - 6 people). Ample car parking. Campsites are 110m apart with a light screen of trees in between, no crowds here. Accessed via 3.5km of rough dirt track - not recommended for low vehicles or low towing vans. The track is rough BUT easily driven by all vehicles - just drive slowly. Dogs welcome, firewood is easily gathered by you, and often in piles by your campsite. Campsites are NOT near water. They are near a dry gully, with an **** unfenced dam.**** We have a beautiful swimming hole at the property entrance, in Boggy Creek. Guests are welcome to enjoy the shaded lawn area, BBQ and pot belly fire. The creek is 3kms from the campsites. Near The Hut is the gate to take a walk up to Sugar Loaf (500m return), where you can see amazing grass trees and place a rock on the cairn. Look for the wallabies that live up there. Stay with us to get away from crowded campsites, to enjoy a quieter holiday, while being close to a great tourist district. The King Valley showcases wineries, gourmet food, eateries, restaurants, pubs, brewery, even a gin distillery. We are surrounded by creeks, rivers and lakes, with many fishing, swimming and kayaking options - all within a 30 minute drive! Take a walk to the top of Sugar Loaf, and see unique grass trees on this rocky hill, while catching sight of Mount Buffalo. 8kms to Moyhu which has a pub, coffee shop, general store - all with great food options. You can get petrol, take away, gas etc.

The Moodemere Lake House is uniquely Australian and fully self contained. Situated in the midst of picturesque Lake Moodemere Estate, the Moodemere Lake House offers the ultimate in wine destinations. The broad deck and living area provide absolute views of Lake Moodemere and State Reserve, while the bedroom faces the extensive vineyard. There is only one guest house so privacy is guaranteed. (Sorry, due to the very close proximity to the Moodemere Reserve pets are not permitted.) Breakfast provisions with estate grown and made preserves may be delivered to your Lake House. When in season, a large bowl of fresh oranges from our century old orchard is provided. The Lake House is situated 7km’s from Rutherglen, and nestled in the midst of number of wineries and attractions. At least six wineries may be easily accessed by foot, bicycle, or horse, along the walking, trail and bike path that runs along our vineyard and the myriad of pretty country lanes. Golfers are spoilt for choice with three championship golf courses within a 30 minute radius. Despite all the region has to offer, guests may not want to leave the Moodemere Lake House. The day can be whiled away right on your doorstep. From the deck you may spend the morning watching for platypus. There are over 100 species of birds, including eagles, swans and pelicans. Native wildlife such as echidnas and kangaroos are regular visitors. A short walk along the bank of Lake Moodemere and the vineyard leads to the cellar door where guests may enjoy a relaxed lunch and private wine tasting. At dusk light up the fire pit and experience the spectacular sunset over Lake Moodemere. A walk around Lake Moodemere, and along the Murray River will take around two hours and provide many memorable, unique, and beautiful sights. The track is also suitable for cyclists and horses. Lake Moodemere Estate is a working vineyard and farm. The changing seasons offers opportunities to get involved, such as grape picking or experiencing the shearing shed in action.
