Located directly off the highway, our little piece of country paradise is easy access and the perfect weekend getaway or stop on the way to the snowy mountains.
Our campground is nestled amongst 200 acres of farm land where campers are welcome to stretch their legs and witness the beautiful views of the Tinderry Mountains from the hill tops. Along the way say hi to the cows and our beautiful Clydesdale.
The Michelago General Store is only a hop skip jump away, where you can treat yourself to a barista made coffee, warm homemade meal or restock food supplies. The Petrol Station is also only 100m down the road.
Camp fires are welcome within the fire pits, but please bring your own wood. All fires must be put out at night and before you leave.
A portable camp toilet can be provided upon request.

This property is in Northangera with the Mongarlowe River running along the boundary. It's covered in trees and provides a pristine environment amongst the "Scribbly Gums". It has flat areas with plenty of free timber for the designated fire pits. I have tried to create a haven for wildlife including Kangaroos, wombats, echidnas and platypus. I cherish the cleanliness of the river and surrounds and wish to be able to share this special environment with others who care to preserve all it offers. You can explore the property along the tracks, paddle, swim or fish in the river, enjoy the fauna, wildlife and birdlife.
Located not far from Braidwood, a town steeped in history, with good shopping, coffee shops and great food.
Sloping to flat land amongst the Scribbly Gum trees offering a number of sites and walks through the property. It provides both sun and shade. Access is good for vans of any size along a track through the bushland.
Lovely swimming spots in the Mongalowe River, beautiful clear water, and several lovely bushwalks around the property.
There is only Telstra reception available in this area.

Merigan Farm is a 1400 Hectare (3500 acre) working sheep and cattle farm. Our family has lived at Merigan for more than 50 years. It has been a farm since the 1840s and we still run sheep and cattle in a regenerative manner, to this day. It’s a pleasure to be able to share the countryside and farm with guests.
We currently offer two accommodation options:
Cherry Tree - A cabin with a beautiful farm outlook. With a bookcase full of books and a fire pit for cosy evenings, it's the perfect escape.
The Quarters - A private section of the old farmhouse offering rural charm and a perfectly comfortable stay.
Merigan is the name of the local Parish and on Ngunawal country. It has been recounted by indigenous locals that Merigan means Dingo. The story being that Merigan fought the Bunyip and in their tussle created the rivers and creeks across the range.
It’s a southern Australian Mediterranean environment with distinct seasons – it can reach over 42 degrees and in the winter its been known often to snow. Sometimes in summer the easterly sea breezes reaches over the range and the smell of sea salt cools the hot evening.
Merigan offers a range of activities, to relax and settle into rural life. One of the best ways to get the feel of Merigan is just taking a walk around the property. We have 3500 acres of space to meander around and a great spots for picnics, drinks and photographs. Feel free to use the Tennis Court, balls and racquets under one of the verandas at the front of the house and the bocce court at the bottom of the garden.
Bungendore, 18km away, is a thriving little country town with Galleries, gift-shops, cafés, bakeries, coffee shops and bars. The Top Pub (The Royal ) is the more casual of the hotels. The Bottom Pub (The Lake George) has a fancy restaurant attached to the more informal pub area.
Braidwood is a funky Heritage town about 25km East of Bungendore and well worth a visit. It has outstanding shops and eateries and 2 pubs. The Braidwood Hotel being my favourite.
Tarago is 14km away. The Loaded Dog do meals but mainly on weekends (Pizzas during the week). Best to check as it varies.
Other local attractions include Lark Hill Winery, Lerida Estate Winery, Turlla Truffles and Bungendore Woodworks.

I loved camping here for several reasons: the site overlooked bushland with hills behind so you’re awoken by bird life, then chooks clucking at breakfast time.
It felt very safe. Away from the world but not so alone
Quiet. Both in nature and by the owners
Very convenient if using a car to reach Canberra but also to get away.
Minimal downside: the water point needed an extra long hose to access. I used bucket instead.
Very audible water pump turned on and off 24 hrs a day. Got used to it but..
So it’s the view that makes the place a winner!

What a wonderful, restorative escape! Such a top spot by the river. Amazing swimming hole for hot days. Saw platypuses, a wombat and water dragons. Simple, rustic, perfect shack. So well positioned; had everything we needed. Good walking nearby. Looking forward to going back already. Phil was a great host.

Had a great time. Saw heaps of wildlife including huge kangaroo crossing the road 10m in front of us when bushwalking with our puppy, platypus fossicking at the riverbank, and snakes too. Lots of cool birds too. Really enjoyed our evenings by the fire pit and floats down the river to the causeway which we would bushwalk back from.

We loved the River Shack at Phils! The water had the perfect little swimming and fishing holeright in front of the shack. The resident platypus visited every day which was SO cool. Spent our evenings by the fire outside. The outdoor sink and cooking set up meant we barely had to use our own kit which was super convenient.

Swan Farm is a scenic, relaxing and peaceful spot to stay. We had a lovely spot by the creek bed where we could enjoy the views surrounded by hills and farm views. This is a great place to stay with short drives into Canberra or Cooma. Carly was a fabulous host!

Well, you leave home to go away from home (duh !) but when you experience the welcome and friendliness of Carly and Andrew at Swan Farm, you still feel at home !.
Easy to find, friendly cows, great site, great views to the mountains and Jack and Diane will charm your socks off.
The land itself ? - flat, big, easy to peg into and as the description says, be self-contained and take all your rubbish out.

4 nights at Scribbly Gum secluded bush camping
The shack is in such a beautiful spot, it felt very private (except for the bird life!). The river is absolutely beautiful to swim in and we were lucky enough to see the platypus swimming about. The shack has a double burner gas cooker and a little camping single burner that can be used outside as well. It was a great place to stay even with a bit of rain, with a cosy fire that kept us warm inside. There’s a bit of wildlife about, no reception and no toilets apart from a bucket in an outhouse so as long as that’s not a problem for you, you will have a wonderful escape from the outside world!!!

We had a lovely stay at Gumnut! Beautiful views, very private and loved the campfire. The only slight drawback was the ground was quite rocky which made it difficult to put tent pegs in, so would recommend bringing a little trowel to help dig a spot to put them. Otherwise a fantastic trip.

This is a great little spot just off the highway for a wonderfully private overnight stay. Plenty of room for my dogs to run around and lovely and quiet and dark for a great nights sleep. It has a petrol station right nearby which was open on New Year’s Day luckily for us. Communication with the host was great and definitely go by the instructions that the owner gives you as GPS sent us the wrong way! Thanks so much for a great stay!

Phil was very friendly, welcoming, kind and hospitable.
The bush camping was great. Beautiful scenery and bushland. The river was really nice. It has a rocky bottom so rock booties would have been helpful.
The walk to the river was nice.
Great campfire set up. The gumnut site was private and mostly quite peaceful. The kids enjoyed riding their bikes on the track.
I would definitely recommend Phil’s campsites.
