This property is in Northangera with the Mongarlowe River running along the boundary. It's covered in trees and provides a pristine environment amongst the "Scribbly Gums". It has flat areas with plenty of free timber for the designated fire pits. I have tried to create a haven for wildlife including Kangaroos, wombats, echidnas and platypus. I cherish the cleanliness of the river and surrounds and wish to be able to share this special environment with others who care to preserve all it offers. You can explore the property along the tracks, paddle, swim or fish in the river, enjoy the fauna, wildlife and birdlife. Located not far from Braidwood, a town steeped in history, with good shopping, coffee shops and great food. Sloping to flat land amongst the Scribbly Gum trees offering a number of sites and walks through the property. It provides both sun and shade. Access is good for vans of any size along a track through the bushland. Lovely swimming spots in the Mongalowe River, beautiful clear water, and several lovely bushwalks around the property. There is only Telstra reception available in this area. We offer 7 different sites and the maximum stay is 7 nights.

We will take children, over 5 years old, who are able to swim, but would insist that parents supervise at all times. Merigan Farm is a 1400 Hectare (3500 acre) working sheep and cattle farm. Our family has lived at Merigan for more than 50 years. It has been a farm since the 1840s and we still run sheep and cattle in a regenerative manner, to this day. It’s a pleasure to be able to share the countryside and farm with guests. We currently offer two accommodation options: Cherry Tree - A cabin with a beautiful farm outlook. With a bookcase full of books and a fire pit for cosy evenings, it's the perfect escape. The Quarters - A private section of the old farmhouse offering rural charm and a perfectly comfortable stay. Merigan is the name of the local Parish and on Ngunawal country. It has been recounted by indigenous locals that Merigan means Dingo. The story being that Merigan fought the Bunyip and in their tussle created the rivers and creeks across the range. It’s a southern Australian Mediterranean environment with distinct seasons – it can reach over 42 degrees and in the winter its been known often to snow. Sometimes in summer the easterly sea breezes reaches over the range and the smell of sea salt cools the hot evening. Merigan offers a range of activities, to relax and settle into rural life. One of the best ways to get the feel of Merigan is just taking a walk around the property. We have 3500 acres of space to meander around and a great spots for picnics, drinks and photographs. Feel free to use the Tennis Court, balls and racquets under one of the verandas at the front of the house and the bocce court at the bottom of the garden. Bungendore, 18km away, is a thriving little country town with Galleries, gift-shops, cafés, bakeries, coffee shops and bars. The Top Pub (The Royal ) is the more casual of the hotels. The Bottom Pub (The Lake George) has a fancy restaurant attached to the more informal pub area. Braidwood is a funky Heritage town about 25km East of Bungendore and well worth a visit. It has outstanding shops and eateries and 2 pubs. The Braidwood Hotel being my favourite. Tarago is 14km away. The Loaded Dog do meals but mainly on weekends (Pizzas during the week). Best to check as it varies. Other local attractions include Lark Hill Winery, Lerida Estate Winery, Turlla Truffles and Bungendore Woodworks.

The current owner has stocked the farm with ‘rescued’ animals which she has nursed back to health, including farm animals and retired racehorses. Her care for the animals has made them friendly to visitors who can interact and care for them during their stay, providing a complete farm life experience for all the family! Children and guests love petting or feeding the sheep, horses, geese, and chickens and doing some daily farm chores during their stay – including collecting the free-range eggs for breakfast locking up the chooks for the evening, and letting them out in the morning. The resident cat is also friendly to children. In season there is plenty of fresh fruit to be picked in the orchard and the dam is stocked with trout. (Fishing rods are supplied – catch your own dinner!) The homestead itself is spacious and equipped with all the conveniences for your stay. Three queen bedrooms cater for up to 6 guests, with a sofa lounge sleeping another two. A fully stocked pantry in the large country kitchen has basic provisions – all you need to bring is the food for your meals. There are lots of places in the garden and the wrap-around verandah to sit and relax plus a gas barbecue and table settings for al fresco meals. Awakened to the sound of bird calls. Experience native fauna – kangaroos and wombats often pass by!

The Shack provided us with the perfect long weekend retreat. Phil has set up the Shack with a cooker, chairs, table, comfortable beds and cooking utensils. The view to the river is beautiful and we enjoyed a refreshing swim and paddle board. We loved the indoor and outdoor fire - plenty of firewood provided! The best part - total peace and quiet! We loved staying at the river shack - it has everything you need for a relaxing, off-grid holiday. The shack is well stocked with cooking supplies and firewood and the log burner kept us cosy during the cold nights. The view from the deck was lovely - we even saw 2 platypus! Would definitely recommend the shack!

The most beautiful site on the river. So private, serene and relaxing. We were a bit worried about the cold (sub zero) but the shack is SO cosy with the fire. Well stocked with cooking gear, firewood and two drums of water (we still BYO drinking water). We were visited by a wombat and platypus! Perfect getaway for two couples and a dog.
