If your heart beats to the vibrant drum of the Southern Highlands but you want the space and freedom of camping on a great river, then Wings of the Carribee is for you. Two campsites share 20 Acres of cottonwood trees on the Wingecarribee river. They are 250m apart and both on the riverfront giving you the seclusion you need while allowing you access to all that the Highlands have to offer. Bring your fishing rod and yabbie net, sit at the large picnic table, rent a kayak and go for a paddle, come say hello to the miniature Hereford cattle and enjoy the half drum fire pit while watching the cows grazing across the river. If you are bringing dog(s) then they must be on a lead or consider Yabbie which is enclosed. Of course you will be tempted to explore the area. Wings sits directly between Bowral and Moss Vale (both are less than 5km away) and is 14 km from historic Berrima so you can leave the camper and head into town to enjoy the old world charm of the area. The Southern Highlands is ideal if you’re wanting to escape Sydney (100km) or Canberra (160km) without lengthy travel. Discover all that the area has to offer including a host of idyllic country towns, fascinating shops and regular country events. With it’s abundant wineries, award-winning restaurants, culinary delights, and natural splendor, it’s the place to unplug, find yourself and indulge in some of life’s finest pleasures. If the birds and the bees are your thing then you are also in for a rare treat. We have eastern greys, rabbits, the odd fox and a host of birdlife (eyes open for the resident wedgetail pair, pelicans, black swans etc.), but whatever you seek from your break, we look forward to hosting you. Surrounded by beautiful flowing creeks, lookouts, caves, rainforests, billabongs, mountains just a short drive/ride away. Explore the surrounding state forest in 4x4, on motorbike or horseback, push bike or hiking. Even catch your own freshwater crayfish ! Some of the best beaches in Jervis Bay and Sussex Inlet only 20 minutes drive away. You won’t be disappointed. We have tent sits and caravan sites available. Please advise upon booking, which site you require. We have a lovely flowing creek through our property, your choice of camp sites, fire pit, firewood. Grassy sunny areas and shady grassed areas. Self guided walks throughout the property to explore the creek, mountain and mini rainforest. You must be self sufficient as there are no toilets or showers available and please take all rubbish with you. We are located 8 kilometres off the Princes Highway and we DO recommend 4wd as there is 5 kilometres of rough dirt road with 3 creek crossings that can be flooded in heavy rains. Dogs are accepted but Must be kept on a leash as we have an abundance of wildlife, wallabies, kangaroos, wombats and birds, as well as our own dogs, horses, pigs, goats and a cat. Please be aware of wombat holes. As well as snakes.

200 acres of wild natural bushland on the Yass River. There's plenty of space for hiķing, with a long River frontage for fishing, canoeing, or fossicking. Old Chinese gold works near the site to inspect. A dam is available for swimming or catching yabbies. It is not safe to swim in the river due to flood wrack. There is plenty of wildlife particularly if you are into bird watching. Outside of the fire danger period you are welcome to build camp fires in the fireplace. Lots of native animals to see. There are 4 species of macropod, wombats, and 3 possum species. A bird watchers paradise. Bush walking. Close to cold climate wineries and horse riding. We can provide a driver for winery visits. Completely undeveloped so you will need to bring everything you need and take it away with you including toilet and waste. There is a dump site at Yass. You are welcome to collect the abundant fallen timber to burn in the fireplace when firebans are not in place. Only 4WD car access. Unsuitable for caravans. Dogs are welcome so long as they do not pass property boundaries. We have neighbours with sheep and cattle. You could also bring your horses we have trails and a small yard and attached shelter.

4. Middle Of Nowhere

40 Acres of seclusion, privacy and stars at night. Pitch a tent wherever you like and enjoy the views towards the National Park. Located in Big Hill NSW, this place is nothing fancy and very basic. Light a fire and enjoy the peace and quiet. You must come fully prepared and ready to create your own adventure as this is just a block of land with endless opportunity for fun and quiet enjoyment of a variety of activities. 4WD access only. Drive through to the camping platform to pitch a tent. Stay within the property boundary as per the photos. Do not descend to the river. It's dangerous.

Noonameena is a 100 acre natural bushland property located approx 7kms outside of Berrima, NSW in the Southern Highlands. While most of the property is covered by a variety of natural bushland, a small flat area of cleared land is perfect for recreational campers. The property has access to the Wingecarribee River to the south, a natural pool and large dam in the camping area. Other property features include commercial gardens, orchards and free range chicken coop as well as a homestead with surrounding gardens. There are also plenty of walking tracks on the property.

This was truly a stunning stay. The views accross the water and the sounds of so many different bird life. the area was fenced off so I felt totally safe letting the pups run freely. Vallance was such an accomodating host who even on a Friday afternoon came down to help me out of a pickle I had gotten mysleft into. Such a gentleman. and if your lucky enough you might even get lucky with some free range eggs. A beautiful spot. I will re visit one day soon.

I loved this camp site. Gives the feel of full bush camping without travelling 3 hours out of Canberra. It’s a very open camp ground with tons of room for the dogs to run around freely. With a decent price and stunning view of the night sky I will definitely be back.

Wonderful experience and many thanks to Vallance and his lovely wife Nikki. Made us feel very welcome and enjoyed a lovely chat around the fire pit on the river. Wonderful property with two sites, a distance apart. 5 friendly cow visited us every morning. Dog friendly, easy access for 2 wheel motor home and well maintained and mowed sites. Will definitely return as Bowral as it is only a short drive away with many heritage homes and shops including the Don Bradman oval and museum. Worth a visit. Would recommend this camp and will return. Thanks Vallance!!

Weekend Trip to Secret Valley

Lisa and Lance are beautiful hosts and so accommodating. Directions easy to follow and on point. They were there to greet us and welcome to their property with such friendliness it was like they were old friends. The site was next to the gorgeous little creek and we were able to decompress and disconnect from our connected and busy lives for a few days. There's little or no service and that suited us fine. We went to sleep with the sound of the creek bubbling away each night and woke to wallabies grazing outside our window...just what we needed! Lisa gave us some tips on local walks and sight seeing which were perfect, Sussex Inlet was lovely and has the an amazing country butcher, pop up produce co-op stall, locally made sourdough and locally grown produce. Highly recommend this stay. One causeway and three creek crossings are no issue, we towed a 20'6" off road caravan in with absolute ease. Thanks for a great stay!

Easy access, all level had 22ft caravan in there with Plenty of space. Slight road noise from Hume hwy. you can find firewood in nearby bushes, chickens for kids to see. A little pricey but would stay again.
