We offer limited sites to comply with NSW Camping legislation and Hipcamp guidelines and to enable campers to experience the Colo as it should be, listening to the beautiful wildlife and really appreciating the outdoors. Sites are large with varying distance between each to enable you to enjoy the camping experience in your own space. Both paddock sites and limited river spots are available. If planning to stay with friends and you wish to share a site only 1 booking is required, the sites are large, some up to 30m x 30m. Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround. It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views. As of September 2025, many of the trails on the property have been degraded by the rains and are now challenging for 2WD cars. If you're towing or it's wet we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. Since this is coastal rainforest and it has been very wet, expect leeches anywhere it is damp. These are easily kept at bay with deet and or trousers tucked into socks. We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with. Note, Mellows Rd is 2.6km long and rises 400m - in parts the road is a 15 degree grade. It's all paved but narrow so if you are towing a large heavy load, it's going to strain your car.

Otford is a historic village in a valley between Sydney and Wollongong, and bounded by the Pacific ocean. Our private acreage backs onto the southern tip of the Royal National Park, so the outlook from the campsite is all leafy trees. Walk to lookouts over the ocean, hike down to the beach or a few minutes drive to dog friendly beaches. Our bathroom and kitchen facilities make it an easy experience for first time campers. We are well-behaved-dog-friendly BUT you must let us know in advance. Our access track to the camping sites has been repaired with a deep layer of asphalt but still best suited to 4WD. The majority of standard 2WD cars manage the track fine There is also the option of parking roadside, and walking in approx 300m to the sites. Please message us if unsure about your vehicle. Weekend Trip to Down by the Hawkesbury - Exclusive

You will not find a better spot within two hours on Sydney. I’m reluctant to share how good it is in fear of it being booked out next time we go. We went for a family catch up before Christmas. Even though it was a 40 degree weekend it didn’t feel like it under the beautiful shady trees. The river, though busy with boats on the hottest weekend of the year offered a quick refresh in a floating tube. Megan the host was fantastic, responsive and warm. The property itself is immaculate. Beautiful sunsets, My Brother hired Mabel the vintage caravan for the two nights and loved lt. It was the perfect weekend. Thank you so much Megan.

Jaime and Nathan are honestly some of the nicest people you’ll meet. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel right at home. The campsite itself is awesome—huge spaces for tents and plenty of room for the kids to roam. The café has seriously good coffee (a lifesaver for parents!), and everyone we met was so helpful and friendly. The kids loved the tractor ride and meeting the farm animals—it’s the kind of simple joy that makes camping special. There’s even a sandpit where the kids played for two hours (which gave me a chance to doze off :) ). They said they wanted to stay there forever!

Our stay with Robert was honestly amazing! The space itself was big, spotless, and really well set up. The shower?l and toilet really good. And the firepit area was such a vibe. The pool was chef’s kiss — perfect for cooling off and floating around. And the absolute stars of the place? His three adorable dogs who decided we were part of their squad and played with us the whole time. We were obsessed. Really great place to stay, I would absolutely choose to stay here over the Caravan park. There’s plenty of space for everyone, so you don’t feel crammed in. Amenities were clean and comfortable. It is close to everything and a short walk to a number of look outs to watch the sunset. We would love to stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Whispering Gums Colo River Camping

We had a fantastic time at Whispering Gums. There’s lots of space between camping spots and most of them have some cover under trees. It’s right next to the beautiful Colo River which had varied levels of water depth that has good areas for small dogs and kids. Toilets are nice and clean. The firepits were a good size and we got value purchasing the firewood and kindling. Make sure you follow their provided directions on getting there. There’s a big difference in road quality between the two possible routes!
