Enjoy a toasty campfire in the evenings where you can sit back and gaze at the stars. There are trail bikes tracks nearby and the iconic Border Ranges is just past Kyogle.
This campsite is 2WD friendly and caravans are welcome. You may need to level your caravan for a good night's rest.
Your pet, on a lead, is welcome to camp with you. We love animals, but one of the reasons we left suburbia was to get away from barking dogs. If your dog barks at night, or is not we’ll socialised, you’re best to leave pooch at home!

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a "glamping" experience so insects and nature is a part of the experience. The dome tents are set on a concrete slab which is regularly sprayed however insects will still be around as the tents are set in the middle of the paddock so please be mindful of this.
This property uses Solar Power (not connected to the grid) so please be aware of energy usage. All lights and general appliances are low energy and remain suitable for use over an extended sunless/cloudy period. If you drain the solar you will lose power and hot water.
There are 2 portable fans inside the domes for hot days. To reduce the impact on hot days the small dome has a rooftop curtain that should remain closed along with the front window curtains to keep the domes cooler.
You are welcome to explore the property. We do not recommend walking through long grass on the property without protective footwear as snakes are known to live in the area. We agiste cattle so you do need to close the cattle gates behind you.
Please be aware the driveway to the domes is not sealed. It is a gravel driveway.
In the rain it may be slippery. If your car is not suitable for gravel inclines park at the top of the driveway.
There is a house on the acreage. During your stay no one will occupy the house. You have exclusive use of the property.

Our property is a 150 acre working organic produce and cattle farm with undulating land, lush green grass, mountain views and a creek surrounded by ferns. The camp site is hilltop with amazing views including that of Mount Lindsay, Mount Barney and the Border Ranges.
Most times there are animals for children to pet, baby rabbits, calves, lambs etc. In September-October we have fireflies at the creek.

During Your Stay
Please arrive during your nominated check-in time. If you expect to arrive late, we'd appreciate a quick message.
Please respect the privacy of other campers by keeping noise to a minimum, particularly during the early morning and evening.
Leave your campsite clean and tidy, taking all rubbish with you or placing it in the designated bins.
Campfires are permitted only in designated fire pits and only when local fire restrictions allow. Never leave a fire unattended.
Our Horses & Animals
Our horses are treasured members of our ranch family.
Please help us care for them by following these simple guidelines:
DO NOT feed the horses or any other animals. Our horses are on carefully managed diets and unsuitable food can make them seriously unwell.
For your safety, never feed horses while they are together as a herd. Even the quietest horses can become excited around food and may crowd people or compete with one another, creating a potentially dangerous situation.
If you would like to meet or interact with the horses, please speak with us first. We are always happy to introduce you when it is safe and appropriate.
Allow our horses to approach you in their own time and always respect their personal space.
Please do not run, scream, chase, throw objects at or deliberately startle any horses or other animals.
Leave gates exactly as you found them and do not enter paddocks or restricted areas unless invited by a member of The Ranch team.
Please respect our fences, gardens, equipment, wildlife and fellow guests.
Children
Children are very welcome at The Ranch and remain the responsibility of their parent or legal guardian at all times.
Please ensure children are supervised throughout their stay and do not:

Rainforest Gateway is located approximately 8klms along Grady's Creek Road, just 20 klms north of Kyogle and 15 klms from the Queensland border on the popular scenic tourist route, Lions Road. Kyogle is a bustling town with an IGA supermarket, MTB riding tracks, lovely gift shops, cinema, bowling alley, and a selection of dining outlets. For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away.
Please note Lions Road is temporarily closed for road repairs and expected to be reopened late January 2026. We can still be reached on Gradys Creek Road off Summerland Way, ignore Google maps if it directs you to Lynches Creek Rd.

The Burns Point Ferry is the best way to get to us, it runs from 5:30am until 12.30am daily, consistently running back and forth. An approx. 8min journey each way and costs $.00 each way, payable by credit card only. So you can easily go into Ballina town for all shops, cafes, restaurants, etc.
If the ferry isn't for you, you can drive to Ballina via Wardell on River Drive.
The bungalow is located approx. 25m from the main residence, and the campsite is located approx. 300m from the main residence tucked away in the paddocks and forest. We are onsite and available if needed.
Sugar Beach Ranch is an operating farm with staff onsite caring for animals and maintaining the grounds. All care is taken to ensure minimal disruption to guests.

3 nights at Trickling Waters Retreat
We had an amazing time at Trickling Waters! Truely private and tucketed away into nature right beside the running creek. Everything you could need was provided making our stay so comfortable!
The weather wasn't on our side for our stay but the tent was so cosy that it was never an issue, we just bundled up on the deck and in the tent listening to the rain and creek.

Weekend Trip to The Jewel of Caniaba
We had such a great stay! The property is beautiful, peaceful, and the perfect place to switch off for the weekend. We loved being able to have a campfire, and it was a lovely surprise that there was plenty of free firewood available.
We went for a walk around the property, saw cows and even some kangaroos, which made the experience even more special. The host was incredibly kind, welcoming, and made us feel right at home.
Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing camping getaway. We’d definitely love to come back!

Weekend Trip to Barachi by the Creek
We loved our glamping experience at Barachi! Such a beautiful private spot & so peaceful listening to the whip birds calling and the creek flowing. The little shack was perfect! It was rustically decorated with pretty fairy lights as well as practical solar lighting. Peter & Tania had really thought of everything & we were pleasantly surprised with the few extra touches and bits and pieces that were available. We are all about having a campfire and we were impressed with the outdoor fire pit area & enjoyed lighting up the pot belly stove. Peter was very helpful & made sure we were able to safely enter & exit the property, given recent rain and quite muddy conditions. Would love to return in a different season to enjoy swimming in the creek & relaxing in the outdoor bath.

Weekend Trip to Rainforest Hideaway
Set up was decent in the RV. Not too much of a view but surrounded by beautiful trees and the road behind is very quiet so not a bother. We arrived late and ended up sitting up next to it to enjoy a cheeseboard under the stars, which was incredible away from the city lights. Kitchen has all the basics you need and shower is nice and hot.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Trickling Waters in a beautiful glamping tent nestled right alongside Commissioners Creek. This is a truly private and tucked-away gem in the Mount Commissioners Creek area of the Mount Warning region, surrounded by lush nature that makes you feel miles from anywhere. The gentle, tranquil sound of the creek was soothing and created the perfect backdrop for unwinding and relaxing after busy days exploring the region. Everything felt peaceful, secluded, and restorative — the perfect spot for a family escape or a quiet recharge in nature.

My daughter and I had a lovely time at Steve's property. We stayed in the caravan which was really modern and well equipped. Steve was really hospitable making sure to explain everything with the van and added an extra blanket to make sure we didn't get cold. It was fun picking fruit from the variety of trees on the property. It's such a beautiful drive to get there with stunning tree canopies and valley views. The Whian Whian waterfalls are just a few minutes drive away and were magical (I'd recommend bringing gumboots for walking down the muddy track to get to them). After doing things outside during the day we loved laying in bed and watching Netflix on the TV in the van. Highly recommend staying here if you visit the area!

A great rustic cabin, filled with character, bordered by a running creek in a private setting. Peter greeted me at his property and drove me down to the cabin, sharing some of the local history of the property and region
And a bag of home grown mandarins. I was provided with a tour of the facilities and left to my own devices - it’s well contained, private and quiet. The fire lit bath worked a treat though in winter, I’d recommend enjoying prior to the sun disappearing. There are candles and some solar powered lights to provide some atmospheric lighting. It can get cool in the evening, so take advantage of the hot water bottles provided. There is a bit of cell reception around the cabin if needed to send text messages but it’s otherwise a great place to switch off, read and chill out.

Stunning place just like the photos. Constant sound of the river which we loved, made for deep and restful sleeps. Fires under starry skies, private and quiet, even gets the afternoon sun in winter. Owner’s friendly and helpful, wood on hand to purchase, we had an axe which was useful for kindling but had forgotten paper, so appreciated them giving us firestarters. Great area to explore, walks etc. loved it!

Would 100% recommend!!! Tents are spacious, clean, warm and protected from the rain. The bed was super comfortable. They have toilets and showers with cold and warm water. Bedding, towels and firewood was provided on the property along with tea and coffee for the morning. Really easy to access and the property manager is a lovely person. Honestly can't go wrong!!

This trip was forecast for lots of rain and thunderstorms and it was my birthday so didn't particularly feel like being soggy so we upgraded and stayed in the tiny house which was such a treat! Has everything you need. And the fire heated hot tubs by the river are just such a special thing to add to any camping trip. Hosts were lovely as always, we will keep coming back ☺️
