They are very friendly but only know us and not you so please do not enter their homes without us, but feel free to talk to them over the gates. No motorbike riding is allowed on the property but there is the opportunity for riding the fire tracks in the adjacent forest.

We are located less than 15 minutes away from Moyhu where there is a fantastic cafe, pub, and shops, and Milawa, where you can enjoy the award-winning Brown Brothers winery and Milawa Cheese Company. It is also less than 30 minutes to Wangaratta, Beechworth, and Myrtleford not to mention a few minutes from the Snow road.
This site is for self-sufficient campers only. All guests must have their own toilet and all waste must be taken when departing to keep the natural beauty of the area.
We also ask that noise levels be kept to a minimum to preserve the peace of the surrounding wildlife. Well-behaved dogs must be kept under control at all times and must not interfere with the other animals. Maximum two dogs allowed. A flexible check-in/out time can be arranged upon request. Samsons Gully is a working cattle farm nestled in a stunning private valley. If you are after peace and tranquillity this is where you will find it.
We have a national park on one side of us, and the Cudgewa Creek flowing along our front boundary. The property is perfect for mountain biking, bushwalking, fishing or just plain relaxing.
The favourite camp site is on the banks of the Cudgewa Creek. However, there are plenty of places to camp in the bush for those wanting more seclusion.
Samsons Gully is a perfect base to explore the Upper Murray. 20 minutes away is Corryong where there is an IGA, service stations, dump point, Dr and hospital, pubs and cafes. 10 minutes away is the Cudgewa pub who do dinner Wednesday through to Sunday evenings.
Our property suits fully self contained campers only as there is not toilet or shower. Dogs and horses are welcome but must be well behaved and kept close to your camp site as this is a working cattle property.
Due to council regulations we can only open one site up at a time. This ensures that your time here will be exclusive, peaceful and private.

Farm Views is a 370 acre working farm in beautiful North East Victoria, approximately 2.5hrs from Melbourne and just 1.5hrs from Mount Hotham.
This private site is the highest point of the undulating farm land and offers scenic views including Mount Buffalo and memorable starry night skies. The natural, largely 'untouched' surrounds are home to Australian wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, wombats and also feeds grazing sheep.
The site contains trees for shade and space to spread out. Find a suitable spot to pitch your tent or set up your camper. Sit back and relax by the fire pit under a magnificent sky, watch the wildlife or go for a walk in the adjacent forest. No motorbike riding is allowed on the property but there is the opportunity for riding the fire tracks in the adjacent forest.
You can also use the property as a base for your adventure in the local region. We are located less than 15 minutes away from Moyhu where there is a fantastic cafe, pub, and shops, and Milawa, where you can enjoy the award-winning Brown Brothers winery and Milawa Cheese Company. It is also less than 30 minutes to Wangaratta, Beechworth, and Myrtleford not to mention a few minutes from the Snow road.
This site is for self-sufficient campers only. All guests must have their own toilet and all waste must be taken when departing to keep the natural beauty of the area.
We also ask that noise levels be kept to a minimum to preserve the peace of the surrounding wildlife. Well-behaved dogs must be kept under control at all times and must not interfere with the other animals. Maximum two dogs allowed. A flexible check-in/out time can be arranged upon request. As the name suggests, Far End sits right at the very end of our property and offers the utmost peace and privacy. This flat, shaded campsite is just 10–20 metres from the river and surrounded by trees, making it a favourite among returning guests.

It has been a few years since we stopped hosting campers at Samsons Gully, but we're back and looking forward to meeting new and old friends.
Samsons Gully is a working cattle farm nestled in a stunning private valley. If you are after peace and tranquillity this is where you will find it.
We have a national park on one side of us, and the Cudgewa Creek flowing along our front boundary. The property is perfect for mountain biking, bushwalking, fishing or just plain relaxing.
The favourite camp site is on the banks of the Cudgewa Creek. However, there are plenty of places to camp in the bush for those wanting more seclusion.
Samsons Gully is a perfect base to explore the Upper Murray. 20 minutes away is Corryong where there is an IGA, service stations, dump point, Dr and hospital, pubs and cafes. 10 minutes away is the Cudgewa pub who do dinner Wednesday through to Sunday evenings.
Our property suits fully self contained campers only as there is not toilet or shower. Dogs and horses are welcome but must be well behaved and kept close to your camp site as this is a working cattle property.
Due to council regulations we can only open one site up at a time. This ensures that your time here will be exclusive, peaceful and private.

Enjoyed my stay! My spot was In The Pines and while it wasn’t directly on the river, Patrick went out of his way to make sure my access point was assessable. The spot was lovely in the tall gums, and was an easy 1min and half walk to the river. I took my chair, book, and coffee down there in the morning.

We really enjoyed our stay at Buffalo River Retreat. The "Far End" is a great campsite, the river was close, and a great spot to cool off and in the rapids or in the deep water just downstream.
Patrick and Ian were extremely friendly and hospitable hosts. They even brought us some fresh fruit and tomatoes from their garden.
Its a short drive to Myrtleford for supplies, or lake Buffalo for a day out on the water.

It was wonderful. I had the riverside site which had a great beach entry into the swimming hole. There was a drop toilet nearby, very clean with toilet paper available. Both Ian & Patrick dropped by to say hello and have a chat. So relaxing just to sit and watch the cows come down on the other side of the river for a drink. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone.

Michael’s land was absolutely beautiful and peaceful the perfect place to unwind and recharge. What really stood out to us was how well-maintained and thoughtfully set up everything was. The surroundings felt private and serene, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy nature without feeling crowded.
Michael was also a very welcoming and considerate host, making the whole experience smooth and comfortable from start to finish. Beautiful spot. Very clean clear river at your doorstep. Wonderful array of bird life. Fish can be seen swimming past and jumping . Lots of high shady trees. You get the company of some lovely cows and there young . We were fortunate to be the only campers at the time which gave us a feeling of seclusion and tranquillity which is often hard to achieve. It did make it hard to say goodbye after 10 nights. Great hosts willing to share their piece of paradise and their animals of which many are really pets. We were treated to fresh eggs,herbs and peaches very reasonable cost . Nice places to visit in the area . We would return.

Where to go
Along the Murray River
The mighty Murray River—Australia’s longest river—flows along the border of NSW and Victoria. Cross over to explore Albury’s twin town, Wodonga, on the south shore, or head east to hike and camp in Woomargama National Park. Bird-watchers will find several destinations of note along the riverside, including the Chiltern National Park and the Wonga Wetlands, or you could take in the sights from the water on a paddle-steamer cruise or canoe excursion.
Around Lake Huma
Just east of Albury, the huge Huma Dam, and Lake Huma lie along the Murray River. Check into one of the lakeside resorts, pitch your tent along the waterfront, or try your luck fishing for Murray cod and rainbow trout. Walking and cycling trails circle the lake or take to the water for a boat cruise or kayak excursion.
Riverina
Albury lies on the southern edge of the Riverina, where sloping vineyards and fruit orchards line the lakes and waterways of the Murrumbidgee River. Enjoy swimming and water sports at the riverside beaches, visit towns like Wagga Wagga and Griffith, and stay at scenic riverfront camping grounds. This is the ideal region for a road trip, stopping to enjoy wine tasting and dine at country pubs along the way.
When to go
Albury’s distinct seasons mean many travelers choose to return again and again. Summer (December through February) is peak season and the best time for swimming and water sports—book your campsite well in advance as they can fill up quickly. The forest parks and valleys around Albury are ablaze with color come autumn, while winter visitors can escape to the Snowy Mountains ski resorts.
Know before you go
- Albury is well connected by public transport, but having your own vehicle is useful for exploring.
- Albury has a large selection of shops where you can pick up camping gear and stock up on supplies.
- Free camping areas in New South Wales are for fully self-sufficient campers only. There is public water access, a dump station, and a rubbish disposal site in Albury.
- Fire bans are common in New South Wales during summer and dry periods, so be sure to check local recommendations before lighting a campfire and always use designated fire pits.
