  • Review summary

    Generated from real Hipcamper reviews

Robert and Carmen's campsite offers a peaceful and beautiful setting right by the river, where the gentle sound of running water and bird song create a serene atmosphere for campers. Guests have consistently praised the friendly and welcoming hosts, who make sure everyone feels at home, while the presence of the majestic Texas Longhorns adds to the charm of the stay. The campsite is well-equipped with clean amenities, including hot showers and a bathroom, making it both comfortable and convenient. However, one review did mention an issue with communication and availability of advertised amenities, such as the shower and firewood.

This was such a fun and unique stay. The cabin itself was very cozy (and does get fairly warm, bring a fan!) with a beautiful view of the river. But by far the coolest part was getting to meet the cattle and have a short tour, definitely send a message and request it if you can!

The space was beautiful and the hosts were excellent. The only issue was the river current next to the campsite was so strong, it was a bit scary with our dogs and kids. It swept our 60 pound dog downstream quickly. So, we spent much of the time making sure dogs and kids stayed away from that. We did find a lovely calm spot to hunt for crawdads just a short walk away, so that was lovely. The river felt great and was very shallow for wading. We were able to see many crawdads and a few frogs. The site was well kept, the cows very enjoyable to watch and the hosts were very friendly. There was an issue with the shower and they were very responsive and helpful. The bathroom was clean and the shower easy to use. The fire pit was great and we appreciated the double picnic tables. Overall, we had a great time and we would recommend this spot for a lovely, quiet getaway.

    • Lots of crawdads were spotted
    • We found a wading spot just a little walk away
    • Steep downhill by site with a strong current, a rope is provided since it's so steep

Could never thank Robert and Carmen enough for sharing their special place. Your longhorns are beautiful, the best camping neighbors ever. We had some great conversations. Being a widow and traveling alone, feeling safe at night is a top priority. It was mid-week, there was no one in the cute little cabin, had the whole place to myself.🤠 The coast is only moments away....bonus.
