Astoria sits right at the mouth of the Columbia River with the Pacific Ocean to the west, and a myriad of rivers and streams running through. This means there's no shortage of water activities to choose from. Paddle boarding, paragliding, surfing and sailing are all popular pastimes among locals. And with all this water surrounding the city, you know the seafood is going to be top notch! Fishing charters take you out on the waters where you can have your pick of Chinook salmon, coho salmon, sturgeon, tuna, dungeness crab and more! If you're more of a history buff than a fisherman, you'll have to visit Fort Stevens State Park. It's one of the biggest parks west of the Mississippi and was a working fort during the Civil War all the way up to World War II. It's also home to the Peter Iredale, one of the coolest shipwrecks you'll find on a beach. How often do you get to camp near a shipwreck? The campground has RV hookups, tent sites, pet-friendly yurts and cabins. What are you waiting for? Get outside and camp near Astoria!
