**MAY HAPPENINGS** We have availability for Memorial Day and fishing continues to be HOT!! Redfish are plentiful and tarpon are rolling! Fishing continues to be the draw during the off season. We have a Fish Cleaning House on site to clean your fish. While we wait for Scallop Season we are still welcoming folks from all over the country. Some are still traveling further south in Florida. Some are heading home (Wyoming, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio). We offer three Amish built log cabins at our RV Campground. Each cabin has a front porch, one bedroom with queen size bed and a set of bunk beds in the living area. Two burner stove top, full size microwave and refrigerator. Full size bathroom with large walk-in shower. Fully furnished with towels and linens as well as dishes, cooking utensils and coffee pot. Smart TV with Dish Network. Wi-Fi is included. The Campground is fenced and gated and we are pet friendly. There is a laundry facility on site for the guests. There is a fire pit if you want to relax. In the summer we have a stock tank pool (opens in April) to cool off after a long day on the water. Steinhatchee is located in Taylor County Florida along the Gulf of America. Inshore and offshore fishing is year-round. Scallop season is June 15 to Labor Day. More than 20 springs are located within 45 minutes of Steinhatchee. Too numerous to count are the Florida Wildlife Management areas that are accessible by car and allow for bird watching and animal siting of deer and wild boar. Steinhatchee River is a kayaking, fishing and paddle boarding experience. The local restaurants/Marinas are within five minutes of the campground. Live music is available at the restaurants.

Take a swing on the open porch, sit riverside at either our propane fire pit or have a campfire (firewood provided) which is also along the river nestled in the woods. We encourage guests to use the outdoor seating areas for the ultimate relaxation experience and to find your favorite spot! Bar-B-Q with our easy-to-use propane grill (utensils and grill pans provided). Our fish station makes cleaning your catch a breeze! Also available a full-size fridge located on the screened porch in addition to the mini fridge in the cottage. Guest access Large open deck with ladder access to the floating dock which is perfect for mooring your boat or launching kayaks. Kayaks are available for guest use. Provided are (2) single person (1) fishing single person and (1) two-person tandem kayaks with life vest. We offer a complimentary shuttle service for the 5-mile downstream Aucilla River to the Gulf of Mexico trip. This can be scheduled after your check-in. Use of the kayaks are at your "own risk" with no host liability. We encourage guest to enjoy the common areas porches at back of main house. Camp chairs are provided and can be used at the fire pit and along the riverbank. A public boat ramp is located within 300 yards north of the property and we have ample storage for you boat trailer during your stay. Other things to note: House rules for children staying at the cottage. We gladly accept children with the understanding that all children thirteen and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times outside the cottage due to its proximity over the river and being in a very natural wildlife environment. This is a strict requirement that will be compulsory. This is for the safety of your children while staying at the River Rise Cottage. We are pet friendly but do require that your pets are not left alone in the cottage. We have different size crates available, and these are provided at no extra charge in the event that you should leave the cottage and choose not to take your fur baby with you. Everything about this place is a dream! We went for my birthday celebration and completely fell in love. From the first few moments after arrival, I could feel my whole system winding down and relaxing. We loved visiting the spring at the bottom of the dock, and enjoying the river view in the many cozy spaces provided. The kitchen was fully stocked so we could make lots of yummy meals too! The beds were nice and comfy, and the hanging bed outside was a special treat. It was so easy to pop over to the nearby springs to take a dip, and coming back to build a fire was a perfect way to end the day. We will absolutely be back, and soon! Thank you Kelli :)

Weekend Trip to Skyacres aka the tin cottage

Me and my girlfriend rented this cabin on a spur of the moment weekend getaway. Overall we were very satisfied. It has a twin bed but it's very comfortable and was a cozy little cabin. The biggest complaint I had about the cabin was it had a hay rake hanging over the bed that I hit my head on pretty regularly during our stay. The shower and toilet are outdoors as well as the kitchen area. If you need running water and ac this definitely isn't the place for you but if you want a quite place to recharge for a weekend this is the place for you. Leonard is a quite and nice guy.

This place is awesome! We wanted to stay another night, but I had to work. Instead, we headed back to Bradenton and stopped in Cedar Key for a couple of hours. During our weekend stay at Bowman’s, we rented kayaks and paddle boards with an outfitter called Rum 138 and it was such a beautiful & chill run. Jesse, the host at Bowman’s was very accommodating and showed us around as soon as we arrived. It’s so beautiful, the kids enjoyed playing in the woods and you can ride bikes in the nature trail around there and just set them free. The sunset colors in the sky are amazing and you’re right along the Santa Fe. We cooked deliciousness on the Blackstone we brought, but each Campsite has a little grill on the fire pit if you wanted to use that (which we will probably do next time.) They have Community bikes to use and if you want to bring an old well working bike you don’t use anymore & want to donate to them, I’m sure they’d appreciate that! We rented one of each of the cabins…, one with kitchen, one glamper, etc. I can’t wait to go back! Plenty of nature, chickens, etc. Jesse is very informative about the area and cool quirky things. Awesome times!! I do have lots of photos. I will add to this later.

Absolutely fantastic hipcamp, this is was the exact reason why we love to hipcamp: connection, safety, and adventure. By far my favorite so far. The host was so lovely and immediately made this place feel safe and like home. From the thoughtful details like a tree swing and coffee station to the cozy cabin itself with a fire pit, we felt at home miles from our own. I will most definitely be back with my family and friends.

After five days of hotel stays with whirring AC systems, elevator sounds and weary staff members, it was BLISS to stay at Quartermoon Cottage and listen to owls as we sat around a campfire before slipping in to our four-poster bed after bidding goodnight to our incredible hosts. This was our third stay there and it won't be the last. Highly recommend.

I loved the cabin and the property. There were people around enough to point us in the right direction for the bathroom but still we had the place to ourselves. We were dreaming of the next time we could go back on the car ride home.
