This property is nestled in the serene town of Howard, Colorado, surrounded by the breathtaking Sangre de Cristo Mountains, with stunning views of Hunts Peak to the west. Plus, the beautiful Arkansas River is less than a mile from your camping spot, perfect for outdoor lovers. You’ll have access to clean water and electricity during your stay—just be sure to bring your own tent or RV. The property can accommodate one RV with a car/truck. There is one designated RV site, with a standard 15A outlet—ideal for smaller trailers or camper vans with light electrical needs. Please note: these hookups aren’t suitable for full-size RVs that require 30A or 50A service. A local dump station is available nearby in Poncha Springs. Enjoy hiking, biking, or running on scenic dirt roads right from the site, with stunning mountain views all around. Downtown Salida is just a 20-minute drive, and you’ll find tons of public hiking trails within ten minutes. Nice quiet little spot all to ourselves. Host was friendly, helpful and nice. We had such a relaxing time here. We will be back for sure.

Ruth’s spot was exactly what I expected for my little overnight on my way to the western slope. She communicated promptly and her instructions were easy to follow. I got some beautiful views of the Lunar Eclipse and the sun peeking over the mountains before I left. I picked her spot because of the electric post and she even provided a cord I could feed into my car for my little heater (because it’s March and I’m just not that tough ;)

The place is peaceful, quiet, safe, and private—definitely a gem! The fire pit area is also very charming. I slept so well that I booked another trip. It’s about 20 minutes from Salida and 40 minutes from Monarch Mountain ski area. The town of Howard seems like a nice, safe area. I loved my stay!

Best View in Eastern Colorado

Ruth was amazing and definitely accommodated our needs!! We had our own private space with electric plug in and water but was able to reach out to her if we needed something. The view of the mountain, waking up, was just something unworldly. This place definitely made my partner and I’s cross country road trip a whole lot more memorable!!
