Little Scraggy Camp is located on 95 acres of an historic 160-acre ranch that was homesteaded by our family in the 1890’s, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This totally off-grid ranch is surrounded by Pike National Forest, yet has easy access from a paved road. We offer several accommodations and glamping sites, as well as sites for moderate sized RVs, travel trailers, truck campers, vans, tents, and hammocks. Additionally, we have sites for small groups (up to 16 people) and large groups (35-200 people). NEW FOR 2025 - two separate, professionally designed 18-hole disc golf courses with PDGA regulation baskets, and a Pro Shop with a free 9-hole putting course, which is great for those who have never played disc golf and want to try it out, (we have free loaner discs). Our Hipcamp guests get a 10% discount on player fees, their children play free. Portable toilets are only a short walk away from sites. We also have several cornhole toss games set up. Friendly, well-mannered dogs are welcome to enjoy YOUR campsite off leash, but please clean up after your dog. We are an ideal basecamp for hiking or biking trail enthusiasts,with direct access to the Little Scraggy Trail and Segment #3 of the Colorado Trail. Little Scraggy Trailhead is 3.5 miles away, with easy access for biking, hiking, or horseback riding on the many other trails of the Buffalo Creek area. You might prefer rock climbing Little Scraggy or fishing the gold-medal waters of the South Platte River canyon below Cheesman Dam and the waters near Deckers. For a day trip, Wellington Lake is only 30 minutes away for no-wake water sports. Many people enjoy kayaking on the North Fork of the South Platte downstream from nearby Buffalo Creek. This is a working ranch where we raise and train Shire draft horses and also ponies. Our particular interest is in carriage driving, and we offer driving experiences upon request.

This tent or hammock campsite sits on a ridge above our glamping sites. Secluded with trees and a rocky hideaway, at the end of a small road. There is only parking for one vehicle, with additional parking for 1 vehicle adjacent to the site. The site can accommodate 1-2 tents and/or hammocks. The site has a wooden spool work table and fire barrel. The portable toilet is just down the hill. Located on an historic ranch property, Outlaw Hideout campsite is behind a locked gate and inside a fenced 45-acre pasture. Trees, rocks, wild flowers, hiking, biking, riding, wildlife viewing and star gazing can all be enjoyed right from your campsite. Walk or ride out the gate at the back of the camp and follow the blue ribbons to access the USFS Little Scraggy Trail or climb the mountain. Quite hours are 9 PM to 9 AM. If you would rather not cook, there is Zoka’s restaurant 10 miles north in Pine, the Bucksnort Saloon one mile north of Pine, or Deckers Corner Cafe 9 miles south, all serve excellent food, beer, and cocktails. This site no longer offers a bell tent, but now has an open area where guests can set up a large tent of their own. The tucked away site is very shaded with large trees. It has a patio table with two chairs, a firepit barrel, and a gas grill (bring your own 20 lb. propane bottle) with side burner. You are welcome to bring your own portable propane fire pit to enjoy. The Colonel’s Camp is located on 45 acres of an historic ranch homestead that is surrounded on all sides by Pike National forest. This is an ideal basecamp for the casual or dedicated trail enthusiast. The ranch itself has several trails and easy trail loops to explore within and just outside of the ranch’s fence lines, with direct access to the 9.5-mile Little Scraggy Trail and Segment #3 of the Colorado Trail. Just 3.5 miles away is the Little Scraggy Trailhead, where you will find easy access for biking, hiking, or horseback riding on the many other trails of the Buffalo Creek area. Additionally, we have an extensive network of hiking and horse trails that avoid conflicts with mountain bikers. You might prefer rock climbing Little Scraggy or fishing the gold-medal waters of the South Platte River canyon below Cheesman Dam and the waters near Deckers. For a day trip, Wellington Lake is only 30 minutes away for no-wake water sports. Many people enjoy kayaking on the North Fork of the South Platte downstream from nearby Buffalo Creek. Recently added is a 4-hole disc golf putting course for you to practice your shots or just try your hand, with 4 sets of discs provided. We also have a cornhole toss game at the camp area. The Hidden Glen is a private RV site nestled in the trees and backs up to a seasonal creek. This back-in site is 35’ long and can accommodate slide-outs on both sides and is easily leveled with some blocking. For your outside enjoyment, it has two patio chairs, a wood spool worktable, and a firepit barrel. Trees, rocks, wildflowers, hiking, and wildlife viewing can all be enjoyed right from your campsite. Situated inside a gated 45-acre mountain pasture, it is part of an historic ranch homestead that is surrounded on all sides by Pike National Forest. A short walk away is a portable toilet, and the camp area has a corn hole toss game. Free-ranging children and off-leash pets are welcome, do please pick up after them. Tucked in the back of a small meadow area, that is surrounded by trees and rock piles, this site is suitable for a couple of tents and/or small to medium trailers, truck camper, camper vans. It has easy pull-in access, but will require leveling. The site has an iron patio table and 2 chairs, a spool work table and fire pit barrel. Pony Roundup is a large, oval campsite at the heart of Little Scraggy glamping sites and across from Pony Meadow. It can accommodate 1 or 2 small-medium trailers and/or 1-2 tents. Sitting across the small road from Pony Meadow, there are several options for setting up this camp. Drive clockwise around the site and as the name implies you can park small-medium trailers around three sides of the site. You can also pull through and park a trailer in the middle, thereby encircling the well-shaded central area that is ready for your next great camping cookout. The campsite amenities you will find under the trees include a small charcoal grill, a patio table with 4 chairs, a large spool worktable and a barrel fire pit. While your steaks are grilling, relax with a ready-mix camping margarita and snack on chips and salsa, while you enjoy the view to the east where you can see Devil’s Head Mountain against the skyline of the Rampart Range. A portable toilet is just a short walk away, along with a corn hole toss game. Plan on packing out your garbage, this keeps our camp bear-free. Specifically set aside, to make it easier for larger parties of families or friends to secure a roomier site to fit their needs. Sitting right in front of the majestic rock face of Little Scraggy Peak, Travois LInes is a campsite for small groups up to 12 guests. Specifically set aside, to make it easier for larger parties of families or friends to secure a roomier site to fit their needs. This site is just right for a small reunion, birthday outing or a disc golf or mountain-biking party. (If you want to party loud, book Pikes Peak View Group Site.) Spacious with easy in/out parking, it can accommodate your camping group’s multiple tents and/or RVs. Easy pull-around or back-in, the large camp area is suitable for a couple of RVs or trailers (depending on length) and/or 1 – 7 tents. Trees, rocks, wild flowers, hiking, wildlife viewing and star gazing can all be enjoyed right from your campsite, inside the 45-acre pasture of this historic ranch property. The campsite has a wood spool work table and a fire pit barrel will be available if there is no burn ban in effect. There is dry firewood on the property for scavenging. There are porta-potties centrally located for convenient access from all sites. We also have a cornhole toss game at the camp area. Plan on packing out your garbage, this keeps our camp bear-free. Quiet inverter generators are allowed between the hours of 10 AM and 10 PM. Walk or ride out the gate at the back of the camp to access the USFS Little Scraggy Trail. Traveling either direction of the 9.5-mile Little Scraggy Trail will take you to segment #3 of the Colorado Trail (for a 12.2-mile loop back to camp) and connects with the extensive trails of the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area, southwest of Denver. The USFS’s Little Scraggy Trailhead is only a few miles away. There is a loop at the end of the road to facilitate turning around. Larger groups can book both Tall Timber and Travois Lines group sites to accommodate up to 26 guests. This is our newest site, best suited for tent, truck camper, truck tent, car camper or van. Ideal for those looking for a nice place to "park" for the night. Sitting on a ridge overlooking a small wooded valley, it is flat and shaded. It is suitable for up to 4 guests, with parking for one vehicle. The site can accommodate 1 large or 2 small tents. Two chairs and a fire barrel are provided, with plenty of firewood nearby that can be gathered. The portable toilet is a short walk just downhill. There is no trash service, so please plan on packing out your garbage, this keeps our camp bear-free. Located on an historic ranch property, Lookout Post campsite is behind a locked gate and inside a fenced 45-acre pasture. Trees, rocks, wild flowers, hiking, biking, riding, wildlife viewing and star gazing can all be enjoyed right from your campsite. There is 1 canvas tent, 1 tent site, and 12 tent/RV sites included in your booking. FAQ Are day campers included in the total guest count, or does it only apply to overnight guests? All campers, whether they are staying overnight or not, must be included in the reservation. Can additional guests be added after the initial booking? Yes, you can modify your trip to add more guests through the Hipcamp app, but you cannot exceed the maximum capacity. Little Scraggy Camp is located on 95 acres of an historic 160-acre ranch that was homesteaded by our family in the 1890’s, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This totally off-grid ranch is surrounded by Pike National Forest, yet has easy access from a paved road. We offer several accommodations and glamping sites, as well as sites for moderate sized RVs, travel trailers, tents, and hammocks. Additionally, we have sites for small groups (up to 14 people) and large groups (35-200 people). Potable drinking water is available from onsite 270-gallon water tanks. Portable toilets are only a short walk away from sites. Friendly dogs are welcome to enjoy your campsite off leash, but please clean up after your dog. If your pet has any aggressive tendencies, it must be leashed. Recently added is a 4 hole disc golf putting course for you to practice your shots or try your hand, with 4 sets of discs provided. The ranch itself has several trails and easy trail loops to explore within and just outside of the ranch’s fence lines, with direct access to the 9.5-mile Little Scraggy Trail and Segment #3 of the Colorado Trail. Just 3.5 miles away is the Little Scraggy Trailhead, where you will find easy access for biking, hiking, or horseback riding on the many other trails of the Buffalo Creek area. Additionally, we have an extensive network of hiking and horse trails that avoid conflicts with mountain bikers. You might prefer rock climbing Little Scraggy or fishing the gold-medal waters of the South Platte River canyon below Cheesman Dam and the waters near Deckers. For a day trip, Wellington Lake is only 30 minutes away for no-wake water sports. Many people enjoy kayaking on the North Fork of the South Platte downstream from nearby Buffalo Creek. This is a working ranch where we raise and train horses and ponies. Our particular interest is in carriage driving, and we offer driving experiences upon request. Historically, a cowboy cabin was a small cabin camp for cowboys working on the outermost boundaries of a ranch. Also known as a "line shack,", this Cabin is an off-grid, western-themed, cozy, retreat that provides a comfortable glamping experience, where “un-plugging” isn’t optional, it is required. Nestled beside a grove of willows and aspen with a seasonal creek, you will feel a world away. The Cowboy Cabin is only 1-hr from Denver and rests at the foot of Little Scraggy Peak, with direct access to the extensive trails of the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area, via the 12.2-mile Little Scraggy Trail. The Cowboy Cabin has a queen bed and loft twin, to sleep three adults on comfortable beds. It has three windows and a skylight that keep it light and bright inside. You can enjoy the night sky by looking through the skylight above the loft bed. Please bring your own sleeping bags or bedding, including pet beds. Your housetrained pet is welcome, but not on people beds. You can sleep soundly knowing you are secure behind a locked gate, inside 40 acres of fenced pasture. Outside, the Cowboy Cabin site has space for 1 or 2 tents for additional guests. A short walk away is a portable toilet. Plan on packing out your garbage, this keeps our camp bear-free. Free-ranging children and off-leash pets are welcome, do please pick up after them. In addition to the beds, the Cabin has a drop-leaf table with 2 chairs, and big comfortable pillows for lounging on the bed with a good book. Two portable solar lights provide light wherever you choose to hang them. Plug them back into their windowsill chargers during the day. Please bring flashlights or a lantern in the event it has been cloudy. Western art decorates the walls, and there is a stick horse for kids to ride. Just inside the door is a compact kitchen that provides everything you need for simple meal prep. You will find coffees, teas, and cocoa beverages, including cream and sugar. The cabinet has cups for hot and cold drinks including lids for hot beverages. There are paper plates and bowls, along with plastic knives, forks and spoons, and basic spices. Under the countertop you will find basic cooking utensils in the draws and in the cabinet below are skillet, sauce pans, coffee pot, tea kettle, water jug and wash pan. There is a two-burner propane camp stove (use outside only) for heating water and cooking. Bring your own 1-lb. propane bottles. If you would rather not cook, there is Zoka’s restaurant 10 miles north in Pine, the Bucksnort Saloon one mile north of Pine, or Deckers Corner 9 miles south, all serve excellent food, beer and cocktails. Outside you will find a patio table and seating for 4 and a fire pit barrel. Rustle up some burgers, hotdogs or some steaks on the Weber charcoal kettle grill. If you forget the charcoal briquettes and want a special treat, fire up the grill with dry Aspen wood available onsite. The flavor imparted by Aspen smoke is Coloradoans’ answer to Texas mesquite. You are welcome to bring your own portable propane fire pit to enjoy.

Camping friends! We enjoyed a nice 4th of July weekend camping at Little Scraggy. Pros: the frisbee golf was a blast (although pricey for a group and we couldn't figure out how to get our discount while staying), clean porta-potties, and good location near to Denver. Both hosts were very friendly and responsive. Potential cons: This is a working horse ranch, and horses roam the ranch and campers can camp at the site with horses. We arrived to find a lot of horse remains around the entire site under every shady spot, and spent about an hour shoveling to clear it out. It was delightful to camp by a horse, but if you are allergic or don't like horses, this might not be the camp for you.

We stayed at the Lookout Post site at Little Scraggy Camp for a quick family tent-camping trip right after the 4th of July, timed around some appointments we had in Denver that week. The campsite was easy to find thanks to their clear directions, and the land itself was beautiful. We had the whole space to ourselves, likely because it was right after the holiday. I agree with other reviewers that there's some road noise, but it wasn't bad — we sleep with a white noise machine, which helped. It was a nice touch that they provided chairs, especially since our car was already packed full. The boys had a great time, and the porta-potty was close by and clean, with solar-powered lights that made it easy to find at night. The road in was a little bumpy, but even our low-to-the-ground Honda Civic made it fine as long as we went slow and stayed mindful. We brought a large 4-person tent for my husband and me, plus a small 2-person tent, and both fit perfectly on the site. It was a short trip, but we really enjoyed the campground.

Little Scraggy Camp was great! My GPS took me right to the gate from Colorado Springs and the yellow pool noodles made it easy to recognize. Juniper Tree does have a spot that’s been more leveled for a tent pad but it still had a bit of a slope and the rest of the site is real steep as others have said. I didn’t read the reviews before I booked. Luckily there’s so much natural shade I didn’t need a canopy and didn’t. Ring my camp stove since I wasn’t staying long. I had a great time and will definitely return at a different site.

It's a beautiful property! It is family friendly. There are several spots on the land but definitely space between. The higher up sites might be better for privacy. The Porto potties are very clean. The only complaint we had is that our site, hidden glen was very uneven so it was hard to find very level spots for our tables, chairs and tent.

Overall 9/10, specific site (Juniper Tree) 7/10 We loved it here, but struggled a bit with the Juniper Tree site being on such a slant 😅 I think we underestimated how much of an angle it would be. It was difficult to sit around in a circle because then one or two of us would be sitting against the slant and our chairs kept falling over 😂. It was leveled in the parking space, so my friends put their larger tent down there (I slept in my single person tent on a slightly less slanted part of the hill, it was good for me). I put rocks under the spool table to level it and that worked well for cooking. 😊 Other than some struggles with the slantedness of that particular site, this place is so lovely, it's my second time camping here and I'll surely be back again (I just will avoid Juniper Tree site next time lol). The port-a-potties were very clean and smelled nice! We appreciated that greatly. Toilet paper went in a trash can, and could tell it was being emptied reguarly. Thanks so much!!! 🥰

The campsites are not in top of one another. Lots of trees. Bring your own water and toilet paper (vault toilets are available, but ran out if tissue quickly). Get any directions you will need ahead of time because this is definitely a dead zone. Ask about disc golf ahead of time and get directions. Worth it

We really enjoyed our stay here. We were able to have a fire the first two nights, but the 3rd night a fire ban was put into place (which is totally fine! We need to protect our forests!). The property is beautiful and there is lots to explore, even with a two year old. There is no phone service, but the directions provided prior by the camp host were more than sufficient. I will say I think the camping spots are a little too close together. The other campers were mostly respectful and not too noisy. I also think if we were to return that we would pick a different spot than Hidden Glenn. It was a great size for our needs, but very uneven and took some work to get the camper positioned and camp kitchen set up in a way that everything didn’t fall.

The whole site is sloped, but with some leveling for our tables etc we made it work! Other sites are far enough that sound wasn’t an issue.
