Enjoy beautiful panoramic views of Nine Points Mesa, Camel Humps, Black Hill, Packsaddle Mountain, and Hen Egg Mountain. The only desert sounds you'll hear are crickets, the soft cooing of quail and other birds, and the distant call of coyotes. Less than 2 miles from HWY 118 with easy access by car, and only 24 minutes from the entrance to Big Bend National Park.

Loved the remoteness of the site. We were able to see millions of stars each night which was really important to me. The shelter was build very solid and really helped to break the wind from deatroying our tent. I wished there would have been a marker on the main road with reflectors just because it was very difficuot to see the mailboxes driving to the site at night. As a woman camper ots inportant for me to feel safe camping. There was a truck that would drive by late at night and early in the morning and I didnt know if it was some neighbor or the host checking on us, but wish I would have known either way so I wasnt a little on edge, but it was overall a great experience so close to Big Bend.

We're so glad you loved the location! We're working with the county on a better street sign for the turnoff, so that should be resolved soon. And yeah, the remoteness makes it easy to forget there are other vacation rentals and even some locals who live down those dirt roads. Thanks for the feedback!

We were so surprised when we first arrived at the North Shelter on Sky Ranch. It is incredibly built and absolutely perfect at providing a safe cute shelter in the desert. It fit our tent perfectly and we added some solar lights to make it cozy and homey. The fire pit provided was perfect for cooking dinner and was very well constructed. Overall this was the perfect place to stay while in the Terlingua desert.

Amazing site outside of Terlingua. Directions were accurate but difficult to see signs at night. Directions said "painted boards" but there were actual signs that say sky ranch south and north that are also red and blue. I was searching for actual painted boards.

Site was beautiful, clean, private, and having a fire was amazing! The structure was a nice addition. I would stay again and recommend it.

We really enjoyed staying here! My husband and I with our two dogs felt so safe and relaxed. The site was actually pretty easy to find and not too far from the highway! The views were spectacular and the spot was the perfect size. Our host was awesome too! I messaged him about suggestions and how to get to different places and he responded in a reasonable amount of time and had a lot of good information to share. Thanks so much!

The sunrise was incredible! My husband and our pups! The weather was perfect but, the covering was the best escape from the sun

The Sky Ranch North Shelter was an awesome place to stay! Our host’s directions were spot on and the site was easy to find. The site is a short drive to the entrance of Big Bend National Park and had a sturdy fire pit. The shelter blocked out a lot of the wind and was a comfy place to sleep. It was just me and my partner and we felt totally safe there even without cell service (that was actually kind of nice!) The stars at night were probably the best part - you can see the Milky Way with the naked eye while you enjoy a toasty fire. Would 100% stat again!

Sky Ranch has amazing views and a great shelter against the elements. I have camped in Terlingua before and the wind can be an issue...but not here. The shelter is well built, clean, and large enough for both tent and a small table. The directions were easy to navigate and we had no issues finding it. This location is great to get into Big Bend National or State parks. Overall it is very secluded but you could see the other shelter and houses in the distance. We highly recommend it and will be back.

Chairs and fire pit included. The pit has a grill grate if needed but we used our cast iron tripod. Sunset view from the shelter Sunset from inside the shelterShelter

Wow, we loved Sky Ranch. The shelter protected us from the below-freezing temp and the site was remote but didn't feel unsafe. We enjoyed a fire each night at sunset. I'd recommend this site to anyone who wants to enjoy the Big Bend area but also wants some privacy away from it all after a long day of hiking.
