This old homestead belonged to my belated brother Steve, and after he passed unexpectedly, we decided to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for those interested in sharing a peaceful and modest property.
The old barn is a work in progress to eventually become the base to accommodating more travelers and outdoor enthusiasts as finances permit.
My son Logan, after having worked in the service industry bartending for 14 years and hosting 100+ global travelers via CouchSurfing out in San Diego, is well-versed in creating an inviting space, enjoying the merits of hard work through the hospitality industry.

Our property and profile are in constant change as we are in a stage of development, but we look to share our land with those seeking to enjoy a warm, welcome environment for those fellow wanderers, outdoor enthusiasts, vagabonds, and globetrotters. Logan is a well-traveled backpacker and together we share 5 1/2 acres here in a bustling little touristy town. We enjoy the company of those who endorse small footprint, sustainable practices and like to establish meaningful connections. All we ask is that you respect the property, our neighbors, and make an effort to add one more new friend before you depart.

Here Up North, we know about winter. How to get cozy, enjoy good company, and, of course, how to deeply appreciate the downy white blanket of snow that envelops us for several months of the year.
With our winter smarts and fondness for the season, we created what we think is the ideal wintertime getaway here at Strawberry Lake Cabin.
Built in 2013 by local Minnesota craftsmen, our cabin wall and floors boast radiant heat (great for defrosting your toes after a snowy hike), its comfy indoor spaces are great for long conversations and warm drinks, and its spotless kitchen encourages you to prepare some snowed-in comfort food together. Or, maybe you'd like to be pampered and treated to a local homemade catered breakfast, lunch or dinner - we can help make that happen.
Not to mention the world of winter activities waiting just outside the cabin. Watch thick snowflakes drift to the snow-blanketed ground and frozen lake through the prism of the cabin’s cathedral windows, which reach from the living area to the lofted bedroom. Then venture out to explore the glittering, snowbound landscape for yourself!

Sweet teepee setup on private deck tucked in the trees. Close to porta-potty and community fire pit. Came with pillows, bedding, lights, electricity, fan, heater, and even a fly swatter. Host stopped by on 2nd day to remove leaves from deck. Hosts attentive and friendly.community spaces outstanding! Shared fridge/freezer and Venmo snack pantry. Perfect hip camp.

We had to go back again before it starts getting cold! I have a tiny dog named Bean who’s favorite thing is now finding acorns and convincing everyone she’s part greyhound by running everywhere she possible can. 💚🫘 The bed is super cozy, and i feel like ‘cozy’ pretty much sums up the whole experience.

Dave was a great host, communicative, friendly, and punctual. Showed me around when I got in and offered me a cup of coffee and friendly conversation before I left.
The campsite was well stocked, would have stayed longer if I could because the barn offered a cool hangout and the tents mattress was super comfy. It was raining while I stayed and the putter patter on the roof of the tent while was perfect for sleeping.

Tent camping at Tumbleweed was simple, peaceful, and exactly what I needed. I loved being surrounded by green grass that felt like a soft meadow, wildflowers in bloom, and the surprise of cool mushrooms scattered throughout. The biodiversity of the ecosystem was beautiful to witness. I came for solo respite and retreat—and left feeling refreshed, grounded, and renewed.

Staying here was such a delight! Everyone was so kind and welcoming, including JuJu the cat :) We had a wonderful time getting to know everyone and exploring the space. We stayed in the TeePee and it was very cozy. The lights were a great added feature! The barn had so much character and it was clear that lots of love was put into this campground as a whole. 100/10

We felt so welcome, and everything was super cozy and clean. The teepee is on a raised deck with comfortable flooring inside and a wonderful king-sized mattress furnished with sheets, blankets, and pillows. The teepee has electricity run to it as well! For more creature comforts, the barn is only a short walk away.
If you’re bringing a lot of equipment, they will lend you a wheelbarrow to move supplies as it is a short walk over lightly hilly grass to the teepee from the parking area.
Definitely pay attention to the instructions they provide about how to get to the site without taking a super long gravel road as Google Maps may direct you to do!

We booked this spot last minute and we're glad we did! It was so welcoming, clean, and cozy. The hosts were so kind and made sure we had everything we needed. There's a shared fire pit, so it's perfect if you're trying to meet fellow campers. Great spot for troll hunting as well!

Buffalo River is a great little spot for a weekend camp. Amenities are true to a traditional state park plus an awesome swim pond. There are a few miles of trails all pretty easy treks to be made in under and hour, easy for groups or children.
I frequently make day trips out to Buffalo River. It is wonderful!
