A smoke and carbon monoxide detector is there for your personal safety. Fire pit with wood available. Picnic table. Gas grill. Plenty of parking. A real taste of Maine at an affordable price. Miles of hiking trails to explore and minutes to the ocean. Miles of ATV trails that can be accessed from the premises. Brand new and clean outhouse on site. All trash must be carried out. One dog considered, must be leashed at all times. Dog owner responsible for clean up and any damages incurred. The Whiting Store (real country store) is located about 3 miles on Route 1 North. Hannaford in Machias Maine is about 5 miles south on Route 1. Directions to the boat launch......take a left from your driveway, the boat launch is about 300 feet on the right hand side and is marked by a driftwood sign that is marked BOAT LAUNCH. Campobello Island, New Brunswick Canada is 24 miles away from the camp. Please remember to bring your passport for admittance to Canada. Learn more about this land: You'll arrive at our barn and home, probably greeted by a variety of animals. Walking past the pond and through the field towards the tree line, you'll arrive at our tiny cabin situated on a hill with the salt marsh below. The cabin is furnished with a full sized futon, a wooden bench, beehive working woodstove, and shelving. There are candle lanterns provided, however we suggest also bringing a few flashlights. Depending on the season we have farm vegetables and eggs available, kayaks available upon request to use to explore the salt marsh and harbors right out in front of the cabin. A short drive and you can find numerous hiking areas and beaches or take the longer 1 hour and 15 min ride to Bar Harbor. The cabin is not visible to the main house, though sound may travel. You'll have a beautiful view of the water facing west for sun sets. We access the water and trails around the fields foraging for berries with our kiddos and dogs, along with rotating the grazing animals and will provide ample space to respect your privacy. A small gas grill and cooler can be provided, Cabin has no electric or running water. Water can be accessed from the main house and/or barn pumps depending on season, however will need to be brought down to cabin. Outhouse is located nearby.

While on the boat, look for wildlife such as seals, harbor porpoise, bald eagles and other waterfowl. Arriving in Bar Harbor, enjoy shopping, restaurants and other in town activities. -Cycle down the 29 mile Schoodic National Scenic Byway. -17 miles to Schoodic Peninsula and the famous Schoodic Point, where you can catch amazing ocean views. -5 minute drive to Prospect Harbor Lighthouse. Places to eat: The property is located a short drive from scenic Winter Harbor, which has a variety of locally owned restaurants. It's also only about a 25 minute drive to Ellsworth, which also has multiple eating options and grocery stores. Bar Harbor is only about 40 minutes from the property as well, which boasts some amazing eateries, shops, and other activities. NOTE: This site is fully off-grid and requires walking approximately 3-4 minutes on a forest trail from the parking area to get to the site. All equipment must be hand-carried in. There is limited power and potable water. Guests should be prepared for an off-grid yurt experience. Bedding and cookware also are not provided. ATV and Snowmobile Trails come right to Balsam Hill Cabins. The Cabins are right on the old Stagecoach Road that is 220 years old. We just fixed Old County Road to the Cabins. We are located 2 miles from Route 1 Milbridge and about 2 miles from Route 1A Milbridge Find us on YouTube videos of wild animals and campground area 😊 A-Frame Cabin 10’by10’, private, fire pit, benches, picnic table and hammock. The Cabin is 75’ from Old County Road and 200’ from the parking area. A cell phone booster is at the campground which works good and runs all the time and no wifi or power at the cabins off grid. Shower is located at the cabins. We are located 2 miles from Route 1 Milbridge and about 2 miles from Route 1A Milbridge and we just fixed the Old County Road and the parking area and the road is settling from being fixed but low cars have been making into the parking area with no problems. The paths are primitive and not suited for people who have trouble walking on uneven ground. We provide solar lights, propane stove, propane, natural bug spray, battery bank charger, 1 small bottled water per guests and sleeping bags. Heat provided from Oct 1 to April 30. No Out of State Maine Firewood. No water at the shower from October 15 to April 30 because of the frost.

I enjoyed my stay at Twin Bucks Cabin. It was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable. An electric heater kept it warm even with temperatures at night in the upper 30s and there is also a secondary heater for when it gets really cold. You have electricity to keep all your things charged. There is no WiFi but with my cell carrier I had a good signal and could get online that way no problem. So it was warm, cozy and comfortable. Very quiet (with an occasional owl or loon calling!) And the hosts checked to see if I there was anything at all that I needed. Great place, great hosts!

2 nights at Orange Lake Airstream.

Such a cool spot! We booked it for 2 nights of our camping trip to have a place to hang out with possible rain in the forecast and planned to spend the first evening by the campfire. We arrived after dark and were warmly greeted by the host. He gave our dog Mabel a pat and let us know that he'd be just up the road if we needed anything, and even left us some firewood! I immediately felt at home stepping into the airstream, the heater already running and the lights left on for us. The trailer was clean and had some awesome vintage photos and picture books on display. The beds were clean and comfortable, and Mabel immediately claimed the twin bed for herself! It didn't rain that night but the airstream was so cozy we decided to skip the fire and go straight to the "back up plan" of snuggling up with the pup to watch a movie on the tablet. The next morning we headed for a hike at boot head, only a 15 minute drive away and saw some absolutely breathtaking views! We came back to the airstream for our campfire and had a blast...that's about when the rain showed up. I wasn't even disappointed, the sound of the rain hitting the metal roof was just as good as the crackling of a campfire. We absolutely loved our stay here! Thank you for the amazing memories!

Bill and Carol were excellent hosts! They made us feel very welcome and made sure we had enough firewood to stay warm. The downeast is a stunning location to visit. Bill and Carols location is just 30mins from Cutler coast, machiasport, eastport and everything in between! lots of nature to explore and some great restauraunts too! definately a great location off the beaten path with more than you expect to be offered. We will be back!

Secluded. Loved this space. Even though they warned not to get there at night, we did… path is an adventure but follow it, you’ll eventually get there. Will be easier without the wheel barrel! Can hear traffic speeding by in distance but didn’t mind. Outhouse is the cleanest I’ve used. Yurt is a great size. Walk to lake and take the kayaks out. Don’t skip it.

I stayed one night at Carol's cabin and enjoyed it a lot. It's peaceful and the two bucks are there too, which is funny and gives a sense of history to the place. With electricity to recharge your phone, wood to start a fire, a barbecue to cook and heat to warm the chilly nights, you'll have all you need to be happy in the woods. Carol is very responsive and can tell you what to do in the area depending on your interests.

Weekend Trip to Orange Lake Airstream.

Very fun retro camping “glamping??” Experience. The airstream is in great shape for being around 50 years old. The wood floors and counters re model were well done. Comfortable mattress in the back of the camper(didn’t try the one in the front) could probably sleep more than 3. Hosts were very responsive and had someone drop off an extra heater even though the one they had was working and it was actually user error on my part. Unfortunately it doesnt seem original radio was working. There is electricity but as they state no cooking surface(we brought an electric griddle and it was perfect for the space) Bring something for shade the lot is very open and sun hits directly during the day. For the price after fees it was a great place to stay! If you place on launching a boat I would suggest driving down the hill (with AWD)all though it’s a steep drive back up. Getting to the airstream was very easy and even though it’s on a dirt road it’s compacted well and should be easy for any car AWD or not(weather dependent) It was a little under a 2 hour ride north of bar harbor and Acadia national park which we did both. Don’t miss out on a new hidden gem

We loved camping on Carols property. The cabin was cozy with 2 twin beds that were comfy. She provides some reading material so you get to know the area and have some ideas of what to do. The night time was super quiet, there are no sounds other than the sound of a loon calling from a across the water. If you want to get away from it all and find some peace I would recommend staying at Twin Bucks. Carol was very responsive and accommodating. We plan on staying again in the very near future!

We loved Sienna’s sweet lodging in the woodsy glen, and stayed an extra day to enjoy it. She was responsive and helpful throughout our stay and has thought of every detail inside the cabin and around- the bed was very comfortable, the outdoor shower delightful and we kept the side lifted for most of the day. We will definitely return and are telling all our friends about this wonderful spot!

1 night at Balsam Hill Cabins

I enjoyed staying in the cabin but unfortunately it was a one night stay and that one night was a big rain storm. Since I came in on a motorcycle and was already drenched it kind of hindered my ability to really enjoy everything this place had to offer. While I was stuck inside the cabin I found it incredibly clean, comfortable, and well appointed. I was surprised by the lack of bugs present seeing as there are many ways for them to get in as there are lots of gaps between the wood siding. I hope to return when I can enjoy the firepit and outdoor area another time. The rain did provide a wonderful soundtrack to sleep to and the kitchen is well stocked with all you need to cook with.

We had a great time at Matthew's yurt! It had everything we needed for a fun and comfortable camping trip. We really appreciated the extra touches like citronella candles, flashlights, board games, and more! The compost toilet and outdoor shower were super clean! We enjoyed roasting smores around the fire and exploring the pond with the provided canoe. It was super convenient being right off Route 1 as Acadia and other trails were just a short drive away! We highly recommend checking out Chipman's Wharf and Crow's Nest Cafe in Millbridge!
