Big Hole Boondockin' is located in Southwest Montana along the beautiful banks of the Big Hole River. River View Livestock, a 300 acre working cattle ranch, surrounds our camping areas which gives you the opportunity to enjoy a real Montana ranch experience. If you're not into the ranch lifestyle, hop on a raft, inner tube or kayak and float down the river enjoying a cold beverage. We also offer bank fishing on our private property. Stressed? Book some time with our emotional support animals and snuggle one of the pigs or cows to take some stress out of your life. These animals are part of our family and love to sit and relax with humans, begging for belly scratches and giving kisses. The cell service & wi-fi are very iffy here. T-Mobile works great. If you have Verizon or AT&T you will not have service right at the campsite. You may have to walk or drive a bit to get a signal or the local restaurant & bar has free wi-fi for patrons. Whatever your camping dream is, our focused, friendly staff will work to achieve it. We look forward to hosting you and your family and friends and sharing our day to day dream life.

Montana Farm Stay Glamping Tents

5. Montana Farm Stay Glamping Tents

42mi from Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest · 4 sites
Stay in a glamping tent set in our pasture on a WORKING (formerly Amish) farm in rural southwest Montana—complete with a private bathroom and cow trough shower. This is a true farm experience—rustic, grounded, and one-of-a-kind. Expect open land, animals nearby, and the natural rhythms of farm life (including guardian dogs at night). Located 17 minutes south of I-90 near hot springs and hiking. One of four glamping tents set in our pasture on a working Montana farm. This listing is for a single tent, with a short walk to the bathhouse where you’ll have your own private bathroom, complete with a horse trough shower assigned to your tent. A wood-fired sauna is available on the property and shared among guests. You’ll be staying on a real, active farm—expect open land, animals nearby, and an authentic rural environment rather than a manicured resort. Free-range poultry roam the property, and nature comes as it is. The experience here is simple and grounded: big skies, star-filled nights, and space to slow down. Watch for deer, bald eagles, and even the occasional moose passing through. We’re surrounded by National Forest and Montana’s wild rivers, with Renova Hot Springs just 6 miles away. The tent and bathhouse are off-grid (solar), so power is intentionally limited. A small charging station is available in the tent, and high-speed internet (avg. 100 Mbps) is available if you need to stay connected. This is an active working farm, so you may hear animals, equipment, or farm activity at various times of day, including early mornings or evenings. We do our best to respect your stay, but some noise and light are part of farm life. The Tent + bathhouse are off-grid (solar), so power is limited. Please be mindful of usage and avoid running multiple high-energy appliances at once in the bathhouse. Shoes-off policy inside the tent—thank you. ! Service Animals ! We respect and support the important role of service animals. However, for their safety, our property is not a suitable environment. We have working livestock guardian dogs whose job is to protect farm animals and deter unfamiliar animals. While they are friendly toward people, they may view other animals as a threat. For the safety of your animal, we strongly recommend choosing a different place.

Lost Trail Hot Springs Resort

10. Lost Trail Hot Springs Resort

49mi from Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest
Gallogly Hot Springs, also known as Lost Trail Hot Springs since the 1970s, offers a unique retreat for travelers crossing the Continental Divide at Gibbons Pass. Nestled in a secluded area, this natural hot spring has served as a peaceful resting spot for those embarking on the challenging ascent of the old Indian trail, which climbs approximately 2,000 feet over just three miles. The soothing waters provide a perfect respite before tackling the strenuous journey ahead. The history of Gallogly Hot Springs dates back to 1892 when a woman built a cabin to keep her invalid son close to the healing waters. Although she only stayed for about two years and left the cabin unfinished, her efforts marked the beginning of human connection to this tranquil site. In 1894, Mr. Denning became the first to channel the hot water through a pipe to his comfortable cabin, which featured a cozy stone fireplace located about a quarter-mile from the springs. Unfortunately, fate intervened when a tree fell and crushed his cabin while he was away, prompting him to relocate. Today, Gallogly Hot Springs remains a hidden gem, inviting visitors to experience its natural beauty and therapeutic waters. The surrounding landscape offers opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, exploring nearby swimming holes, and enjoying the serene environment.
