There are several miles of well maintained trails through the deep forest and along the pristine waterfront. This is a secluded conservation area with two remote cabins. This is a unique opportunity: you will have the entire conservation area and the two mini cabins just for your group.  (Even if you only have one person or a small group you are still welcome to reserve the site.)

This is a quaint, off grid cabin located in Elliotsville, Me., surrounded by wilderness, next to the Appalachian Trail in the 100 Mile Wilderness. Propane lights, glass front woodstove, fully operational kitchen, propane cookstove, fire pit out front, BBQ grill on porch. Firewood and propane and plenty of water at sink provided. 2 8ft kayaks for your use to explore all the ponds and lakes nearby. You can spend days or weeks exploring the area, hiking, biking, canoeing, mountain climbing and swimming. Its like going back in time a hundred years but you have some cell reception, unlike our ancestors. Have made several improvements to cabin not yet reflected in guest photos. Yeti type cooler provided for refrigeration of food for longer stays. The cabin is small but can accommodate 5 easily. Queen bed with bunk beds in 1st floor bedroom, full size and twin bed in upstairs bedroom. Clean linens provided. Open kitchen and living room.

Spacious Skies Balsam Woods is a hidden paradise of a campground located right in the heart of Maine, just a half hour south of Moosehead Lake, the largest lake in Maine, and 60 miles as the crow flies from the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, Mt. Katahdin, in Baxter State Park. We offer both wooded and open sites that can accommodate most rigs. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, water, 30 or 50-amp electrical service, and most offer sewer. Groups and tent campers are welcome. Balsam Woods campground is less than a minute’s drive from Piper Pond, a 2-mile-long lake with public boat launch and beach access. Onsite, we have a camp store and snack bar stocked with necessities, treats, and goodies for the whole family. There is no shortage of fun activities with our heated pool, classic rec hall, playground, a new jumping pillow, and gem mining! We have three cozy rustic cabins as well as three deluxe cabins for those wanting to experience the beauty of the great outdoors but who may not be ready for the tenter or RV life!

Learn more about this land: Located only six (6) miles north of the Sugarloaf access road we have (10) units. We have four (8) studio kitchenettes with various bed configurations, and two (2) hotel style rooms that have a coffee pot, microwave and fridge. All our rooms have TV, free Wi-Fi and good cell service. We also have a game room and lounge with a full kitchen in it and outside two grills and a fire pit for your enjoyment. In the winter we have a ski tuning room. We are also only 2 miles south of the town of Stratton-Eustis and Flagstaff Lake. Jackman Landing Campground has been a small town commodity for many years. Started by Steven Coleman in 1995 and built by him and his 2 boys. It's a place full of piece, quiet, and beauty. The views are amazing and the hunting is second to none. Resides on the Canadian boarder in Western Maine. Fishing for lake trout, salmon, and bass with water access right from a privately owned boat launch is a must while visiting our campground. You will never want to leave!Learn more about this land:We offer both tent sites and RV sites to renters. we are in a grassy field with some trees for shade. The campground runs along the Moose River and is right at the mouth of the river where Big Wood Pond flows into it. We have very good fishing and boating with a boat launch big enough to accommodate a pontoon boat right at the campground. There's also an extensive trail system for recreational vehicles of all types including but not limited to trucks, jeeps, ATV, UTV, snowmobiles ect. There's also a seaplane business that operates out of the boat landing on the campground. They offer scenic plane rides though the mountains and remote fishing trips on ponds that are normally inaccessible the normal foot traffic. Tickets can be purchased upon request.

Weekend Trip to 100 Mile Wilderness Cabin

This was our second visit to Paul's cabin and did not disappoint again. Paul made sure there was enough water and wood to last our stay. There is now a flushing toilet outside which was a nice treat. There are many fantastic walking trails close by including the Appalachian Trail. This time round we spent time at North Pond and Juniper Knee Pond and hiked 4ish hour to Little Wilson Falls (there and back and time at the falls).

Well appointed with all one needs for a multiday stay. If considering a stay during colder months, don't hesitate. The wood stove did the trick and there was more than enough wood. Most impressive was Paul's hosting, maintained contact throughout...very helpful. We will be back!

Weekend Trip to Mountain View Motel & Campground

I really loved my stay here! It’s a great spot to relax and unwind. The coin operated showers were actually really nice. The cabin had a cozy, rustic vibe that made the stay memorable. Just a couple things for future guests. The cabin I stayed in had a screened entry instead of a solid door, so it got a little chilly at night. Also with it being so close to other cabins, we had to hang a blanket on the door. Being close to the road means you’ll hear some traffic, and the dogs from the nearby house barked a bit here and there. The game hall and kitchen area are a little dated, but they were clean and worked just fine.

Weekend Trip to Evergreen Conservation Area

I loved staying on Dan’s property. His camp provided everything my group needed for a relaxing fall weekend getaway: spectacular views, accommodating infrastructure, and absolute solitude. You can tell he’s put a lot of thought and energy into the property (and the Hipcamp experience ), which made the entire stay seamless and inviting. We will be back! Pro Tips: 1) arrive before dark to get your bearings, 2) pack light (it’s a good hike to the lake) and the rocky, rooty trail is not wagon-friendly, 3) Download offline Google maps and give yourself extra time for arrival because it’s way out there and GPS/cell service is spotty at best.

Dan was a gracious host with two cabins that were fit for anyone trying to get away for a long off grid weekend! Kayaks and canoes that are available make this spot that much more amazing. If you are trying to get away with your dog and not worry about any neighbors.. this is the spot. 10/10 recommend this gem of a spot with an amazing host!

Such a wonderful campground! We loved the cabin and it had everything we needed. Bathrooms were clean and the store and rec room were there with food supplies, games. Activities and such. The kids loved the jumping pillow and playground. We will definitely be back.

This place was absolutely amazing. It is about a quarter mile walk to the lake cabin. We had to make a couple of trips to bring our stuff in. Next time we probably pack a little lighter, or organize items as must have vs nice to have and do an inventory of available items at camp before making a second trip. But honestly, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Humans loved it, dogs LOVED it. We didn’t see any moose but the loons and eagles were constant entertainment. Can’t wait to go back!

Wow, this place is incredible. Dan’s provided directions were clear after we lost reception and the drive was beautiful. As chronic over-packers, we were pleasantly surprised by how quick and easy the trail to the cabin was, but once we arrived it truly felt like we were miles away from everything. We didn’t experience the volume of bugs that another review claimed, but knowing that they typically come with the territory when one is camping in the woods, we brought repellent and had no issues at all. I can’t say enough about this place. As lifelong Mainers, we have never heard so many loons. When the sun was out we took advantage of the canoe and nearby trails, but when it rained there was something magical about laying in bed listening to raindrops hit the roof and feeling the breeze coming through the screens. On that note, we brought our own sleeping pad but the ones provided were very comfortable. This place is special and the only negative was that we eventually had to leave! We miss it already and we hope to be back very soon. Thank you for sharing this place, Dan!

Stayed for 5 days, and had such a wonderful experience! It was private, serene, beautiful, and all around magical! We also greatly appreciated the cleanliness of the area! The cabins were cozy, and the mattresses on the bed made sleeping very comfortable. The kayaks and canoe were in great shape! Dan was great at communicating when we had any questions. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Weekend Trip to Evergreen Conservation Area

We can’t say enough good things about this campsite! On our scale, this was “glamping” because we frequently sleep on the ground and drive much farther for this kind of peace and quiet. You’ll love the views, the wildlife, the multitude of choices for hanging your hammock and the gel pad on the bed in the screened in bunkhouse. All fabulous, and Dan is a very responsive and generous host!
