*Cell Service/Internet: We are located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains right on the South Arkansas River surrounded lots of shady trees, amazing nearby hikes, fishing & much more. This is the perfect environment to relax and be immersed in nature but not so perfect to be fully connected like you are at home as there is no Cell Service provided by any of the large carriers, (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc…). We do provide free WIFI that will help send a text, make a call or check an email, but that is about it. The free WIFI works best near the camp store and some of the closer RV sites. It does not work at all at the tent sites. We highly suggest you bring your own internet (Your personal Starlink will work great here) if you are wanting stay fully connected, work remotely or do other heavy internet tasks. We want your stay to be as enjoyable as possible so please do not come here and have the unrealistic expectation that our free WIFI will meet your streaming, remote working or internet heavy needs.

A level site with great access, and can accommodate large RV's and campers. And keep your eyes out - you might just see some Pronghorn passing through the property!
Directions from the town of Hartsel: Proceed 2 miles South on State Hwy 9. Turn right (South) on CR 53. Stay right at the fork at 1.3 miles. At 3.9 miles, turn left (East) onto lightly used Shawnee Trail (Note: On occasion due to County grading on CR 53, there will be a small mound to drive over as you enter this left turn). Proceed about one-quarter mile (and past the the POSTED NO TRESPASSING sign just inside the property entrance) to the campsite a bit further on the left.

This private alpine meadow sits at approximately 11,000 feet, at the base of two 14,000-foot peaks, on 160 secluded acres bordering National Forest. The camp rests in a hidden sunken meadow surrounded by ancient forest, alpine streams, and some of the oldest living bristlecone pines in the world — trees so remarkable they have appeared in Ansel Adams photography.
At night, you may hear great horned owls in the trees, coyotes calling at sunset, and sometimes moose moving quietly through the meadow. During the day, the air smells of pine, summer grass, and cold mountain water. Sit beside the stream with your feet on warm granite while the wind moves through 3,000-year-old trees overhead. It is peaceful, wild, and difficult to describe until you are here.
The site is built for guests who want to disconnect from crowds and reconnect with nature without giving up comfort. Tucked into the meadow is a cozy insulated A-frame shelter with large windows, a skylight, soft solar lighting for nighttime ambiance, a locking door, and a full-size bed. It is simple, warm, secure, and comfortable — a perfect basecamp after exploring the high country.
From the property, you have access to miles of 4x4 roads, ATV trails, hiking routes, wildlife viewing, photography, stargazing, and quiet time by the stream. Spend the day hiking alpine ridges, exploring the forest, reading on the deck, or doing nothing at all.
Amenities include a wood deck, waterproof awning, picnic table, BBQ grill, bear box, oversized stone fire pit, and simple backcountry-style toilet setup.
Altitude note: this camp is around 11,000 feet, so guests should be prepared for high-elevation conditions, cooler nights, stronger sun, and changing mountain weather.

Welcome to our home, a peaceful slice of Colorado ranch life just outside Basalt.
Nestled among open fields and big mountain views, our ranch is the perfect place to slow down, breathe fresh air, and reconnect—with nature, your people, and yourself. Wake up to quiet mornings, enjoy golden sunsets, and experience the simple joy of being on a working ranch.
Travelers especially love it here. We have friendly animals (including our beloved donkeys, pigs, and sheep) that kids can visit, wide-open space to roam, hike, or hang out in your hammock, however we have bears, coyotes, and mountain lions in the area, so it's important to take safety precautions at camp.
Whether you're camping under the stars, enjoying a cozy setup, or just looking for a peaceful basecamp near Aspen, this is all about easy, joyful outdoor living. Dogs must be leashed at all times. If dogs are not leashed, we will ask you to leave immediately for the safety of your dogs, ours, and our livestock.
‼️Fire Danger Alert: No smoking anywhere on the property. We are in a high fire-risk area, and even a small spark can cause a wildfire.

Tim is the ultimate host. He went above and beyond to make sure the stay was what was expected. His descriptions are very accurate and the location of the site is in a perfect area with multiple day plan options close by. As he continues to add on to his getaway I am excited to see what comes and will be returning.

We absolutely loved this campsite! Our group was split between this site and one of the glamping sites. This was a great spot for everyone to spread out and still be close together. The campsite was spacious and tucked away among beautiful, tall pine trees, which gave us lots of shade and made the whole area feel really peaceful. Having the picnic table, chairs, water, and bear box was super convenient. It was such a fun place to hang out, relax, and enjoy time with friends. We loved the whole experience and would happily stay here again!
Our group seriously cannot thank Tim enough for being so accommodating and such a gracious host. He helped bring all of our belongings up to the site, set up, and gave an awesome hiking recommendation! Thank you! Would definitely recommend.

Weekend Trip to Placer Camp
Had such a wonderful time here! The whole glamping setup was beautiful, cozy, and had everything we needed. The bell tent was super comfortable, and it was so nice having the queen mattress and bedding already set up. We also loved having the cooking supplies, cooler, fire pit, and heater. All of the extra amenities just made camping feel so easy! The site itself was gorgeous and peaceful, surrounded by nature and perfect for relaxing. Our group had an amazing time, and it was such a fun way to get away and enjoy the outdoors without giving up the comforts of home. We’d definitely come back and I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to be “outdoors” without giving up all the luxuries that you have to when tent camping.
The host of the site always went the extra mile with helping us out. He assisted us in getting all of our stuff to the site, setting up the propane fire, and gave great recommendations for hiking in the area. Thanks for a great time Tim!

We had a great time at Tim's Placer Club and enjoyed our stay a lot. The location is superb for hiking, off-roading, or just spending a weekend away from all the hustle and bustle. Tim was super helpful and friendly and made us feel really welcome.
We had the campsite at the very top with the greatest privacy but also the longest way to haul up the gear. Tim helped us get our gear up and down the mountain. We definitely want to stay at Tim's place again, but next time we will pack less and lighter :-)

We loved staying at Tim’s site! His help at check-in was greatly appreciated and he really thought of everything when outfitting the site. It had a picnic table, camp chairs, and a bear box with cleaning supplies. All of this in addition to the great views and fabulous stargazing. Tim has been so intentional with creating this space to share and we will most definitely be back!

William was so thoughtful and intentional about his campsite. We had the most comfortable and beautiful stay even though it rained. It was breathtaking watching the storms roll over Mount Bross and down along the mountain side. We had a very special treat our last night, which was hearing two elk calling out to each other. And it was so close to four 14teeners that we’ll definitely come back to hike during our next stay at Bristlecone HipCamp. Oh, my husband also loved being right off of the HOV trail for some off-roading.

We stayed in T12 Tent Site and it was a great experience. Beautiful campground, smooth check-in process, clean bathrooms, nice laundry, and as a bonus, outdoor games, board games, and an impressive DVD collection were free to use. Our tent was maybe 10ft from the river with tons of room to ourselves. Can't speak highly enough about this campground!

We stayed in the 2-bedroom suite and had a wonderful "glamping" experience. The rooms were clean, with plenty of silverware/cookware/kitchen utensils available. Check-in and out was a breeze with the detailed communications we received, and the location is ideal for exploring the Salida and San Isabel National Forest areas. The only negative was that it was quite hot at night despite running the fans and opening the windows (which were a bit tricky to get open). The property owners are planning to install a swamp cooler for the unit soon, and that should help mitigate the heat. As a family of 5, we found this suite perfect (the sofa in the living room pulls out into a futon-style bed). Highly recommend this spot for any families looking for a nice glamping vacation.

Great little camping resort. The family takes well care of their property. The bathhouse was extremely clean. They had live music while we were there that was fabulous. Our camp site was nice and flat. The road noise was present but we already knew it would be. Next time I would book the site next to us as that site drives through ours to get to theirs. Not a big problem though. We had a great time.

Weekend Trip to Gondola Village at Holy Cross
As everyone else said, this was SO worth the hard hike! What an incredible experience, we can’t wait to go back
A few things to know:
DRIVING/PARKING:
as of Aug 2026, the GPS coordinates for the parking lot for Tacomas and 4Runners leads you up the 4x4 HCR on Google Maps, which is NOT doable, so make sure you follow the written directions provided and NOT Google Maps!!!!
HUT LOCATION:
We had a hard time locating the hut from the city - it is up the hill to the LEFT when you are facing the HC city. we could not see the huts at all because of the trees and were very unclear where to go and it took us a little while to find
Other things:
- Highly recommend Cleveland Lake day hike
- Easy access to water source when we went (slow trickle moreso than a stream but easy to get to)
- Don’t recommend relying on the solar generator/panels
- We hiked up the 4x4 road (by accident) and it was ~4.5 miles, ~2400 elevation gain. Constant uphill with tough rocky terrain
Don’t want to give all the fun away, but it was even better than we expected and highly recommend this experience! We can’t wait to go back

This place was amazing! Awesome shower, facilities, and hosts. There were also some great farm animals to meet :) Even though it was close to the highway, we still felt a lot of privacy and loved being surrounded by trees. We would love to stay here again next time we come through Buena Vista

Tim's place was amazing to us as a family. He was very attentive and helpful throughout the time we were there. The lookout scenery was amazing from high-up in the camp site. The location of the camp is excellent with easy access to different nearby tourist town. Literally we only need to bring our food, pack-and-play, things for the kids; and Tim provided almost everything our family needs. We also went fishing in nearby lakes and reservoirs which are a short drive from the camp. We did not have the chance to use his kayaks, but definitely next time we will!
