This is a great way to be in town and walk or bike everywhere. Trailers must back in and detach.

Available year-round, even in the deep snow. Nordic skiing right outside your door. Public transit nearby so you can get settled and leave your van/camper without all the pack up, unpack, leveling process. Local public transportation is great!
Quiet dog-friendly neighborhood of locals. Sustainable! (Power is photovoltaic solar. 20 Amp. Not so well suited to AC units or high demand electric heat) Trash, compost, recycling and potable water are available on site. Two blocks away is the CB dump station for sewer and non-potable/potable water (except in winter months).
A great spot to support evening and late night arrivals to avoid driving all over the backcountry looking for a dispersed spot during busy times. Worry free!

Thousand Peaks Ranch Campground in Hartsel has Scenic Mountains, is a getaway and a home away from home for many users. The campsites are best suited for tents and RV stops. Some of the campsites are close to stunning views and you can sleep every night to the sounds of coyotes and other animals. We are very close to many places where you can find a river to fish, take a walk in nature or take a quick dip in the cold waters.
Thousand Peaks Ranch Primitive Campground is a 40-acre site each with a table, fire pit and grill. There is a fee for its use and the stay limit is three weeks. We have well water to supply your shower and are located close to the center of the camp.
Thousand Peaks Ranch offers a group campsite with 8 separate group campsites. These sites vary in size:
Group sites 1, 2, and 7 ($40/ night) can accommodate between 10 and 25 people per site.
Group sites 3-6 ($80/night) can accommodate between 25 and 50 people per site.
Group Site 8 ($120/night) accommodates up to 75 people.
Each site is equipped with 1 or 2 picnic tables and a Fire Pit. There is a large field area in the center of these sites that can be used for group activities.
Please keep in mind that we are a primitive campground. We do not have hookups and cannot accommodate electrical needs. As this is a primitive campsite, we allow the use of generators.
Tent camping is permitted throughout most of the ranch. THIS IS NOT A STATE PROPERTY, However, IT IS A BLM BORDER PROPERTY. See below where we are located:

South Park City is an outside historic museum with 43 original furnished buildings and structures depicting an 1880s-era mining town. The buildings include a church, school, dentist/barber, doctor, coffin-maker, blacksmith, saloon, drug store, general store, homes, train engine and caboose, and other structures that portray life in an early gold mining town in the Colorado Rockies. Experience serene seclusion with breathtaking mountain views at our property, perfectly nestled in nature yet just a short walk from town. The property is 8 acres and includes a primary residence. There are many amazing locations to park a camper or van or even pitch a tent. Property is surrounded by empty land so very secluded but still close to town. Adjacent to the Mineral Belt Trail and easy access to East Side trail system.
We live in a house on the property with our 4 year old son, and Koda the dog, who will be very excited to meet you and might come check on you through out your stay. He loves leftover campfire hot dogs.
Please be aware that this is old mining land and there is mining debris and also glass on the property. We work hard to pick it up and repurpose into art projects but it seems to be a never ending battle. If that is of concern this might not be the property for you. However feel free to bring a metal detector and your geology books and you can find a lot of fun treasures on the land if that is your thing!

With just a single Hipcamp site on a large 40 acre property and no neighbors nearby, you'll enjoy a private camping experience in one of the most scenic locations in Colorado. The property is partially wooded, and there is a spectacular view from the top of a prominent hill on the property which is some of the highest ground for miles in all directions. On site picnic tables (the tan colored bench can fold into a table) and a porta-potty are provided. The campsite is equipped with a unique dual purpose wood/propane fire ring - bring your own propane to enjoy campfires while burn bans are in effect. Great hiking opportunities may be found right on the property, and numerous nearby seldom used dirt roads provide exceptional mountain biking opportunities. Close to recreational opportunities in Buena Vista and Salida, as well as Antero, Eleven Mile, and Spinney Mountain Reservoirs. A level site with great access, and can accommodate large RV's and campers. And keep your eyes out - you might just see some Pronghorn passing through the property!
Directions from the town of Hartsel: Proceed 2 miles South on State Hwy 9. Turn right (South) on CR 53. Stay right at the fork at 1.3 miles. At 3.9 miles, turn left (East) onto lightly used Shawnee Trail (Note: On occasion due to County grading on CR 53, there will be a small mound to drive over as you enter this left turn). Proceed about one-quarter mile (and past the the POSTED NO TRESPASSING sign just inside the property entrance) to the campsite a bit further on the left.

There is little else in the area except for the next door Holy Cross Wilderness, with a lifetime worth of trails, lakes, and peaks to explore -- all accessed from a trailhead only two plus hours from Denver. Gondola Village at Holy Cross has direct access that many only dream of to Colorado's water wilderness, and some of the best backcountry skiing, hiking, scrambling, backpacking, and fly fishing in the Vail / Eagle County / Leadville / Aspen area.

Gondola Village at Holy Cross is at almost 12,000 feet above sea level (believed to be one of the highest altitude Hipcamps in the world). Gondola Village at Holy Cross has been featured on Discovery Channel’s Reclaimed, Airbnb's OMG! Fund, Arch Digest, numerous other publications and brand product shoots. The managers of this property have worked in modular construction (cabins, yurts, and homes) and hospitality for many years and have brought together some of the best Scandinavian and modern mountain design with a mining town aesthetic. With such challenging access (larger items can only come in via helicopter), each piece of furniture and amenity is carefully chosen.
The trip up can be challenging (only off-road, winch / locker equipped vehicles dare try the 759 Holy Cross City jeep road, others will need to hike in at least 2.5 miles), but the views and cabins are well worth the trek. For successful navigation without reliable cell service, a map app like onX is recommended. Snow free season tends to be June 15 an October 30 annually, and outside of this guests should be prepared for up to 11 miles of over-snow travel with no cars allowed (a bit less depending on snow coverage in the shoulder seasons from May 21 - early June and late October - November 21).

The Zella Hut is a cabin built in the late 1800's. It was redone in the 70's and recently updated with mid century modern interiors.
Now it serves as a backcountry hut in the winter and glamping cabin in the summer.
During the winter it can be accessed by skinning, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
During the summer it can be accessed by car.
Its a small cabin, but it can sleep 4 in comfort.
No Rv campers, van and sprinter rvs ok.

We purchased this land as a campsite for family outings.
We have 2 kids and 2 dogs that love running through the aspens, cedars, and pines.
There are 2 stocked fishing ponds in the neighborhood you're welcome to use. (Stocked in June usually).
Fire pit onsite as long asthe county doesn't have any fire restrictions.
You're welcome to drive onto the property to unload your camp gear but please park on the cul-de-sac.

What a great camp! Loved this place so much! Hosts were super welcoming and friendly. Our site was absolutely perfect! The sound of the roaring river was amazing.. like sleeping with your own white noise machine. Wildlife galore.. we saw deer, lots of birds like jays, robins and hummingbirds, chipmunks, a river otter, and the cutest moose that ran right through our site!
Clean bathrooms and showers, wifi at main camp for the screenagers haha;) and a great little sundries store to pick up those few things you might have forgotten.. or can’t resist like a sticker or magnet or super comfy long sleeved t shirt:) this place has it all. We will definitely return! Thanks April and family💜

We had the best weekend trip at Pronghorn Oasis! We lucked out with the weather & had minimal wind most of the weekend. Amazing views, quiet, felt very private, clean & easy to get to. Really enjoyed having the fit pit & outhouse amenities. We would definitely stay again!

We had a wonderful time camping here! Sam is extremely knowledgeable about the area and helped us find some great spots to check out. Taylor canyon was beautiful & we really enjoyed being so close to the river. The proximity to Gunnison and Crested Butte was also a huge plus! I would certainly recommend staying here!

Weekend Trip to Campfire Ranch on the Taylor

Very lovely camping spot! Fire supplies provided plus lights around the fire pit! I was afraid the spot was going to be very windy but I had a pleasant time. The camping spot hides behind a hill and protects from lots of the wind that comes from the (BEAUTIFUL) open view. The wind was mostly very gentle with a few large brief gusts here and there! Port-a-potty was nice and clean with plenty of paper and hand sanitizer. I also had cell service which was awesome. It was my first time solo camping and I felt very safe!

Loved my stay at Steve's camp site! Steve was communicative, all instructions were very clear, and check-in/out was very seamless. The views from the site were amazing in every direction and the stay felt private and safe. There was a burn ban during my stay so the propane pit came in very handy and was a great option in the morning for getting a quick and short fire going to enjoy a coffee around. If needing propane, you can get your tank filled in town at the Bayou Salado Trading Post (10 minute drive from camp). Thank you for a great stay!

My Dog and I enjoyed our First Camp of the Year thanks to our gracious host Jeff. The dispersed sites are backdropped by big sky picturesque views of Mountains filtered through local geology and 11 mile State Park 15 minutes away. We camped in Late 4/20 and the weather was brisk and windy. The site is exposed to all elements but feels private if you aren't concerned about the looky-Loo's. If you are leaving your things and worried, this site does not sneak up on you. From where I fished/hiked I could keep an eye on the site , cows and rams from a distance. If you ever drove by a site and thought, I should ask the owner if I can set up there, then the owner is Jeff. He was responsive and also reached out when he knew my interests and gave me the down low on the goings on. My dog and I had a great time. It's a good spot for Summer Sunny Hazes not Setting up camp on an exposed windy bluff late 4/20. It's a self-sufficent, carry out site that is exactly as advertised. 🤙

It was a very good weekend tenting here. The A-Lodge team was very supportive and had consistent communications for all our needs. I highly recommend this area if you enjoy hikes, going to remote fishing spots, or just enjoy downtown Salida.
