Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

Nopalito Farm has been in operation since late 2014, but the property itself has been a working farm for over 50 years. Lemons and avocados were the primary crops from the 70’s through the 00’s, and are still prominent throughout our 15 acres. Our predecessors then diversified the growing operation by planting a wide range of fruit trees ranging from guavas and passion fruit to peaches and figs. For a decade, hops were grown on 2 acres and were sold to breweries throughout southern California. We’ve since replaced the hop yard with perennial flowers, but continue to cultivate a wide variety of delicious fruits.

Harbison Canyon is surrounded by rocky peaks, with a CREEK! We have multiple species of song birds, owls, hawks, and other wildlife that live in this Riparian Habitat. There is a chorus of frogs throughout the spring nights, and crickets year round!
It's a very short walk to the neighborhood park- equipped with several types of playground equipment and public creek access, or a five minute drive to a Crestridge Ecological Reserve containing multiple trails.
We have three campsites and a cabin on about an acre of land. If you'd like to hang out on the property, we offer a table and chairs with each campsite to lounge in while enjoying the fresh air and nature. There are also a couple of hammocks available.
In addition, our SHARED amenities include an outdoor kitchen that includes a sink with hot water, 2 mini fridges,(full at times, extra coolers available) coffee maker, a two burner stove, a griddle, a toaster oven, blender, tea kettle, and a few pans, plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. Also here to SHARE is a Propane fire pit and BBQ area. The bathroom now includes a flush toilet, sink and shower. We are continuously making improvements.
Fun Fact:
Harbison Canyon was named after John Stewart Harbison - aka the King of the Bee Keepers. He arrived with over one hundred colonies of bees in 1874 and within 7 years he became the world's largest honey producer!
Today there are just a few bees in the area.

No COTS.Guests love it here "This was finally checked off of my saved list—my partner and I rented a 4x4 to get up there since our 2WD car wouldn't have made it in one piece. It was only a short drive from downtown San Diego and was super easy to navigate.
Once we arrived the experience was TRULY MAGICAL. We had such an awesome experience exploring the property, birdwatching, hiking and some light climbing. Don't forget to check out the cave!
The facilities were beyond expectations and we had a seamless experience. Steve was super accommodating and was great at communicating—he even gave us a small tour of the property!
The sunsets and sunrises here were something out of a dream, we wish we could wake up every morning here.

Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

Nopalito Farm has been in operation since late 2014, but the property itself has been a working farm for over 50 years. Lemons and avocados were the primary crops from the 70’s through the 00’s, and are still prominent throughout our 15 acres. Our predecessors then diversified the growing operation by planting a wide range of fruit trees ranging from guavas and passion fruit to peaches and figs. For a decade, hops were grown on 2 acres and were sold to breweries throughout southern California. We’ve since replaced the hop yard with perennial flowers, but continue to cultivate a wide variety of delicious fruits.

Harbison Canyon is surrounded by rocky peaks, with a CREEK! We have multiple species of song birds, owls, hawks, and other wildlife that live in this Riparian Habitat. There is a chorus of frogs throughout the spring nights, and crickets year round!
It's a very short walk to the neighborhood park- equipped with several types of playground equipment and public creek access, or a five minute drive to a Crestridge Ecological Reserve containing multiple trails.
We have three campsites and a cabin on about an acre of land. If you'd like to hang out on the property, we offer a table and chairs with each campsite to lounge in while enjoying the fresh air and nature. There are also a couple of hammocks available.
In addition, our SHARED amenities include an outdoor kitchen that includes a sink with hot water, 2 mini fridges,(full at times, extra coolers available) coffee maker, a two burner stove, a griddle, a toaster oven, blender, tea kettle, and a few pans, plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. Also here to SHARE is a Propane fire pit and BBQ area. The bathroom now includes a flush toilet, sink and shower. We are continuously making improvements.
Fun Fact:
Harbison Canyon was named after John Stewart Harbison - aka the King of the Bee Keepers. He arrived with over one hundred colonies of bees in 1874 and within 7 years he became the world's largest honey producer!
Today there are just a few bees in the area.

No COTS.Guests love it here "This was finally checked off of my saved list—my partner and I rented a 4x4 to get up there since our 2WD car wouldn't have made it in one piece. It was only a short drive from downtown San Diego and was super easy to navigate.
Once we arrived the experience was TRULY MAGICAL. We had such an awesome experience exploring the property, birdwatching, hiking and some light climbing. Don't forget to check out the cave!
The facilities were beyond expectations and we had a seamless experience. Steve was super accommodating and was great at communicating—he even gave us a small tour of the property!
The sunsets and sunrises here were something out of a dream, we wish we could wake up every morning here.

The Ranch is a special place in Santee and can provide a wonderful refuge for people. It was built in the 1940s by the hands of family and friends. The buildings, five acre plot, and granite fixtures remain almost identical to the day they were built and are a constant project to maintain. Your business contributes towards keeping the grounds maintained and our latest projects - which include reestablishing our irrigation system so that we can expand our farming operation. We are a palm grower on 12 acres with many fruit trees, flowers, gardens, and animals.
45 minutes to the ocean. 1 hour from Mexico, 10 miles to San Diego Zoo Safari Park, 45 minutes to Sea World, 45 minutes to Legoland. We have about 30+ vineyards in our community for wine tasting. Many hiking trails including the MT Woodson trail to the famous Potato Chip Rock. Many other entertainment sites nearby, for info just ask.

We had an absolutely fantastic weekend getaway at Thundering Hawk Retreat! Lance is an incredibly thoughtful and communicative host. He checked in to make sure we had everything we needed and even reminded us to catch the stunning sunset. The campsite was clean, peaceful, and spacious enough to easily accommodate our family and our Cybertruck setup. One of the biggest highlights was how dog-friendly the place is. Lance's sweet dogs, Lulu and Paula, came over to greet us and quickly made friends with our Akita, Mochi. It was the perfect, relaxing outdoor experience for the whole family. Highly recommend and we would love to come back!

3 nights at San Diego Canyon Creek
We had a fabulous time at Laura’s cabin. From the comfortable bed, cozy cabin, outdoor kitchen to cook in, clean bathroom, it was just what we needed to get away for a weekend and relax. The location is close enough to San Diego to go out for the day and explore but secluded enough in the mountains to enjoy falling asleep to the sound of peepers and the creek right outside your door. I would highly recommend Laura and her accommodating, kind energy.

My family loved our stay! We went in early April and pretty much had the whole campsite to ourselves. We appreciated the fast heating hot plate in the kitchen and the necessary cooking essentials.
We have a four year old and 18 month old who loved the nearby swing and short walk up to the very top (The Perch) of the campsite.

Our stay at Thompson Palms was exactly what we needed. From the moment we pulled in, the atmosphere of the palm farm offered a unique and serene backdrop that you just don't find at your typical paved RV park. It’s a beautiful, quiet escape that feels tucked away while still being accessible.
What truly made our experience stand out was the hospitality. Our hosts were incredibly gracious and welcoming, ensuring we had everything we needed to feel right at home. It is rare to find such a perfect balance of professional management and genuine, warm kindness. They go above and beyond to maintain a peaceful environment for their guests.
The grounds are well-maintained and provide a natural beauty that made it easy to settle in and enjoy the surroundings. Whether you're looking for a home base to explore the Ramona area or just a quiet spot to relax among the palms, this location delivers. If you are looking for a scenic, high-quality stay with a distinct "California farm" feel, I cannot recommend this spot enough. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely return!

I had such a fabulous time. The site is beautifully built for off road camping. It’s safe and clean plenty of land to explore. The owners are very kind and friendly. I suggest more primitive camping gear. Plan to CAMP!

Laura’s place was such a great stay! The amenities were amazing—having access to a hot shower and a fridge made everything so comfortable and convenient. Our favorite part was sleeping right by the creek and falling asleep to the sound of frogs… it felt so peaceful and unique. Just a heads up—definitely bring mosquito repellent since you’re right by the water!
It was also super convenient that there’s a market within walking distance in case you forget anything, plus a beautiful nearby park where my husband and I spent time playing frisbee, which we loved. One thing to note is that the sites are very close to each other, so it’s not the most private setup if that’s something that matters to you.
Overall, Laura was incredibly sweet and accommodating, which made the experience even better. We had such a relaxing, enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend it!

I stayed in my van and it was a great place to spend the night. The creek was lovely and I really appreciated the tables and chairs provided. The bathroom and kitchen was clean and had everything I needed. Laura was super quick to respond to my messages and gave very thorough instructions on how to get to the property. The sites are fairly close together but I didn't mind because I only spent evenings/mornings there. A nice spot for a short weekend trip!

The place was super cool! Awesome that it’s really not far out of town and you still get a good camping vibe. Trex creek was very cool but the useable space is very limited. So keep that in mind if you book it. Neat spot though! Also, the goats, dogs, and wildlife are very noisy. So if that bothers you be aware. All in all a great trip for us though. Easy to get into, nice little camp shop if you need it. Decent bathroom. Will definitely go back and try out a larger campsite too!

Very nice serene location with plenty of room to walk and see nature. The owner's came to visit with us when we pulled into the site and provided some general guidance on the location of the pond area, and other interesting sites. He also let us park in another open area since we were the only people there that night. We had a great visit with our 20' van. Pet friendly (on leash) location with plenty of sites to visit and see. Clean restrooms are facilities. Plenty of wildlife to see and stars to gaze at. We'll be back.

Went tent-camping. It was beautiful and secluded, surrounded by native plants and a lot of local wildlife, great escape from the city. Stars were great. Some sites are in full sun and some are well-shaded. Hot showers and clean flushing toilets. NOTE: we had a 4WD truck and the North De Luz route was fun (rough but no airing down needed), but if you have a 2WD sedan, take the South De Luz route.

Great sites in a beautiful area. About 30 minutes from everything, but feels like a paradise. Surrounded by orchards and farms, hiking trails, and a scenic drive. Will definitely be back!
