The cabin does have a wood burning stove for heat and simple cooking, however there is no running water or electricity. That being said, the building is wired and has plugs and outlets and is generator-ready. For those wanting electric, you provide your own generator and fuel. We provide sheets, pillows, flashlights, a fire ring with cooking grate, park-style charcoal grill (you provide the charcoal), access to firewood, and an outhouse with toilet paper. Our 1/4 mile of Grand River frontage can be accessed right outside the cabin door via a quick hike down the steep hillside - this isn't for everyone.  If hiking isn't preferred, then a quick two-minute drive will take you to the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark - a favorite of local fishermen. Bigger groups with tents are welcome, but will need to bring all supplies beyond what we provide for two guests.Â

The remoteness of the cabin was perfect and relaxing. Also, the hostess thought of everything in the way of amenities. I definitely plan to return.
Lovely few days at the cabin for my four and a half year old grandson and me. Got to teach him about fire rings, barbecues, outhouses, walking about under a beautiful green leaf canopy and sleeping in a loft. Did not try the steep route down to tge river with him. Kid wanted to stay longer. Place is as described. Thanks, Lisa.
My 12 year old son, our 2 dogs and I had a nice relaxing getaway, an hour from home! Very affordable! It was my first time using Hipcamp, and I was pleasantly surprised with not being slammed with cleaning and service fees, doubling the price, like Airbnb and Vrbo do. That makes taking a quick trip, a drive away from home, affordable for us which is so important to our entire family’s mental health! So thank you, Patrick and Lisa, for building a special place and allowing for people to enjoy your property as much as you do! We will most definitely be back ❤️.

Lisa was very informative about all of the details at the Hemlock Hideaway. The cabin was so cozy and clean with freshly made bedding and a really nice wood burning stove. The stay was peaceful and quiet, there is a small waterfall and the Grand River near by that make lovely water sounds all night. I’m for sure going back whenever I need a little peace and tranquillity!
This was a beautiful getaway. The perfect little cabin getaway in the woods. Every detail was there and everything was just as you would want. The setting of the cabin was great, it felt secluded and nestled in the woods even though it was so easy to get to. The directions that Lisa gives to find the place were great. Definitely buy the wood for the stove in the cabin, it helps a lot. Thanks so much for all the effort you have put into the details of this place.
It was so cozy!! I felt so accomplished building a fire in the wood burning stove! I felt like, yeah, I could like off grid if I wanted!! Haha!
Everything was just perfect for our stay, the cabin, the property (the river rushing just below), the location, even the little outhouse with composting toilet!
It was a perfect Halloween weekend get-a-way! Cozy and inviting inside, and private and charming outside!
I want to help, I do. The hideaway is great. The host is exceptional. I will return. All provided info is accurate and the care and attention to guests’ comfort is of highest quality.
Beautiful spot tucked away and private. Close to freeway but not so close as to be a bother. Silent and beautiful location in the woods. Easy access and a magical little cabin. Very kind and helpful hosts. Highly recommended.
