Welcome to Thurmond Riverfront Oasis, a private riverfront camping retreat located in the heart of the New River Gorge National Park & Preserve. Family-owned for over 75 years and never before offered as a rental, this unique property provides a peaceful escape along the beautiful New River. Perfect for rafters, kayakers, anglers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts, this campsite offers direct river access and a spacious sandy-grass camping area. Spend your days exploring the Gorge, fishing, floating the river, or simply relaxing by the fire pit in a private setting away from crowded campgrounds. Tent camping only. No RVs, campers, travel trailers, fifth wheels, or motorhomes due to the steep driveway and limited turning space. The gravel driveway is steep in places but is accessible to most passenger vehicles, SUVs, pickup trucks, and vans. Full-size dually trucks can access the property. All vehicles must be parked in the designated gravel parking area on the property. Parking along the roadway or at the top of the hill is not permitted. I own until the back of the porta toilet and no farther. Amenities Include: • Weekly serviced portable restroom • Gated entrance with combination lock • Security cameras on site! On does pan view. • 120-volt electrical outlet access • Pressurized river water for washing and general use • Heavy-duty 360-degree park-style charcoal grill • Fire pit • Free firewood while supplies last. It is cut into logs but we suggest to bring a splitting axe if you want it into smaller pieces. (fire starter logs are available onsite for purchase $7) • Gravel parking area **** KAYAK RENTALS AVAILABLE ON THE EXTRAS **** Water Notice: River water is available on-site but is not potable and not safe for drinking. Please bring your own drinking water. To protect the water system, turn the water off at the faucet rather than at the end of the hose. Ideal location for river trips

Thurmond Riverfront Oasis!
Perfectly located in the heart of the Gorge... very convenient for our river trips. Just parked my raft 50 feet from my tent. Porta potty was super clean and having power and (non-potable) water was a huge plus. Had no problem accessing the driveway with my AWD SUV.

Thurmond Riverfront Oasis!
Awesome campsite — we would absolutely stay again We had an awesome stay at this campsite in Thurmond. The site itself is beautiful, peaceful, and so pretty down by the river. The river access was amazing, and the town of Thurmond was awesome to explore as well. I did read a previous review that mentioned concerns about the security cameras, but our experience was very different. For us, the cameras actually ended up being a positive because they helped us locate our lost dog who went up river instead of down. Add clearly states that there are cameras and it made my veteran husband feel more secure with his PTSD. We still felt like we had a great private outdoor experience, and knowing the site had security gave us some peace of mind. The water at the site worked great, and the host even left us an extension cord, which was really thoughtful and helpful. Jason was a wonderful host, the campsite was well kept, and the location was hard to beat. We would absolutely love to stay here again. I couldn't ever see anyone leave this place nothing less than 5 stars but it is hard to please everyone even the negative Nancy's.

Tranquility on the banks of the New River. Very private and peaceful with great views of the mountains. Definitely a site I will visit in the future.

Thurmond Riverfront Oasis!
This was honestly the best place I have camped at in a long time! The location is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and so convenient to everything around Thurmond and the New River Gorge area. For the price, this is definitely a go-to spot! Definitely worth the price. The amenities were great and made the stay so easy. The portable toilet was extremely clean, which was a huge plus. Having power available to charge phones and anything else we needed was awesome, and the water worked great too. I also felt super secure the entire time with the gated entrance, which made the trip even more relaxing. The host was awesome to deal with and made everything simple. We did not use the grill, but it was extremely impressive and looked like it would be perfect for cooking out. I still cannot get over how beautiful the river is there. Waking up beside the water was amazing, and the trains across the river added such a cool, peaceful, historic feel to the whole experience. This place has everything you need for a great camping trip: great location, great amenities, beautiful views, and a host who truly cares. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it!

AWESOME PLACE DONT PASS IT UP!

Thurmond Riverfront Oasis!
STUNNING!!!! No one should pass this place up. I have tent camped at many other places in Fayette County, but this one was right on the river and absolutely BEAUTIFUL! You pay for what you get, and this place is worth every penny plus more. Waking up right beside the New River and hearing the water moving was amazing. Opening the tent in the morning that close to the river was peaceful and unforgettable. One of the best parts was waking up to a deer walking by the property, which made the whole experience feel even more connected to nature. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and truly one of a kind. The bike riding was excellent, and the location is hard to beat. Thurmond is such a historic town, and while I was there, the Amtrak train even stopped, which was awesome to see. Hearing and seeing the trains across the river added so much character and made it feel like a true New River Gorge experience. I loved that the camp is pet friendly and felt secure with the gate at the top. The porta-potty was a huge plus, the pressurized water worked great, and the picnic table was very well built and sturdy. There also looked to be plenty of free firewood, which is always a great bonus. The host was very responsive, friendly, and easy to communicate with. This is a hidden gem in Thurmond, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to camp here. I would HIGHLY suggest this place to EVERYONE. I cannot wait to come back!
